Chapter 428 Antonio Valencia, the Unsung Hero...
However, Antonio couldn't bring himself to say it out loud. He had already left such a bad impression on Brady, and admitting that the food wasn't good would only make things more awkward. Thus, Antonio had no choice but to silently endure.
Seeing Antonio eating alone in silence, Sarah quickly called everyone to start eating. "Alright, stop talking. The dishes will get cold."
Brady snorted. "It's not that the dishes will get cold. It's more like they'll disappear if we don't eat them soon."
Antonio clicked his tongue and thought to himself that only he could eat so much of this dish...How miserable.
"Bro, there's still so much left, isn't there?" Sarah quickly tried to mediate and took a bite first, but she froze in place immediately!
It was just too awful...
Seeing Sarah's expression, the children also took a bite, and their faces revealed the same indescribable emotion.
Harper was even about to cry!
Only then did Brady sense that something was wrong. He took a bite, and his facial expression changed dramatically as he spat it out!
What on earth was this? How did his cooking skills deteriorate again?
Brady looked unbelievably at Antonio, who had already eaten half a bowl of rice. He felt a mix of admiration and astonishment.
'Wow, Antonio can even eat this?'
Seeing Brady looking like he had lost faith in life, Antonio found it somewhat amusing.
'Now he knows how bad his cooking was, right?'
But Antonio didn't show it. Instead, he asked with concern, "Are you alright, bro? Everything okay?"
"I'm fine," Brady replied in an annoyed tone and somewhat embarrassedly said, "Uh... you don't have to eat anymore.
"I'm almost full, and I just ordered takeout. It'll be here soon. You guys can continue chatting."
Antonio smiled slightly and finished the last bit of rice in his bowl.
Brady suddenly felt guilty as he looked at Antonio. He never expected him to protect his dignity.
From what he had remembered, Antonio would at least flip the table at the worst. Yet, he silently finished all this food!
Antonio put down his chopsticks with a smile.
Just as the takeout arrived, he got up to get it. "Enjoy your meal, I'll wash the dishes."
Antonio then collected all the dishes and utensils before heading to the kitchen to wash them.
Brady looked at the table full of takeout food and then glanced at the busy figure in the kitchen, furrowing his brows slightly.
"What are you thinking, bro?" Sarah asked with a smile.
"I'm wondering if the sun will rise from the west," he replied, still finding it hard to believe what he was seeing.
Antonio was a skilled actor, and it was highly possible that this was all just a facade he put on.
Sarah didn't explain either; she changed the subject and started talking to Brady about other things.
After finishing their meal, the family chatted in the living room for a while before it was time to rest.
Sarah had just finished talking with Brady in the kitchen and naturally wasn't willing to share a room with Antonio under his watchful eyes.
Sarah had just wrapped up a conversation with Brady in the kitchen and was understandably reluctant to share a room with Antonio, given his watchful demeanor.
She shot Antonio a glare.
Taking the hint, Antonio cast a longing glance at Sarah and uttered, "I'll head upstairs to sleep."
Sarah nodded. "Go ahead, goodnight."
Antonio had no choice but to return to his guest room.
Brady was also satisfied; after a long flight, he was already incredibly tired and went straight to his own room.
Upon hearing Brady's sleeping sounds from his room, Antonio opened his door and walked towards Sarah.
"What are you doing? Go back to sleep." Sarah lightly patted Antonio's shoulder, deliberately lowering her voice to prevent others from hearing.
Antonio knew that his desires tonight couldn't be fulfilled, so he quickly kissed Sarah on the lips and said, "Goodnight, wife."
Sarah's face turned slightly red. "Hmm, goodnight."
Only then did Antonio contentedly return to his room.
However, during the latter part of the night, he was awakened by a severe stomachache.
Turning on the bedside lamp, he clutched his stomach as he sat up. He had a pre-existing stomach condition, which had recently begun to worsen due to illness and hospitalization.
Previously, he had been able to endure and had grown accustomed to it without experiencing excessive pain. After consuming Brady's experimental cooking, his stomach condition flared up.
Antonio got off the bed, his legs weakened by the pain, with small beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
Leaning against the wall for support, he moved slowly towards the door, mindful not to disturb his sleeping family. Descending the stairs quietly, he searched for medicine in the darkness, opting not to switch on any lights.
The medicine kit was filled with the children's usual medication, which Antonio rarely opened. But now, he couldn't find the stomach medicine.
Suddenly, someone spoke, "What are you doing?"
Antonio jumped in surprise and looked up, only to find it was Brian.
"Why did you come down?" Antonio sat on the carpet, not showing any signs of abnormality.
Brian held a flashlight in his hand. "I came out to use the bathroom."
He glanced at the scattered medicine on the floor. "What are you looking for?"
"Some stomach meds." Antonio propped himself up on the sofa. "You should go back quickly."
In that instant, Brian thought of tonight's dark cuisine. With the help of the flashlight, he could also see the sweat beads on Antonio's forehead, knowing that he must be in pain.
"Is there anything else?" Antonio asked.
Brian shook his head, turned, and entered the bathroom.
When he came out, he saw that Antonio had already found the stomach medicine and was slowly moving towards the dining table to pour water.
Without thinking much, Brian quickly walked to the table and poured a cup of warm water for him.
Only after pouring the water; did he realize what he was doing and feel the sadness in his heart.
Brian never expected that he would feel a little heartache when he saw Antonio with a stomachache.
Antonio's eyes were filled with surprise and joy. "Thank you, son. You don't need to worry about me. It's an old problem. I just need to take the medicine."
Brian pressed his lips together, thought for a moment, and then said, "Actually, you don't have to pretend to be strong."
"Huh?" Antonio was momentarily stunned.
"If you're feeling uncomfortable, don't hesitate to speak up. Suffering in silence only causes inconvenience for everyone involved, including yourself. Since we share the same living space, feel free to reach out whenever you need assistance or support."
A wave of warmth surged in Antonio's heart. He reached out and ruffled Brian's hair, "I understand, thank you, son."
Brian sat down on a chair and watched as Antonio as he finished taking the stomach medicine.
After taking the medicine, Antonio didn't leave immediately. Instead, he sat on the chair and asked Brian, "At such a young age, you've established a multinational corporation. Do you have any goals?"
Brian nodded. "Of course. My goal is to ensure that Mommy, as well as my younger siblings, have a good life. They will never have to worry about money and can do whatever they want. I want them to be the happiest and most joyous people in this world."
Antonio couldn't help but feel touched. He reached out and rubbed Brian's head. "I see, thank you, son."
His eyes lit up.
"Before meeting your mother, I had no goals or aspirations. But after meeting her, my only wish was to make her happy and bring her joy."
