Chapter 504 Dad Will Love You
Antonio's eyes widened, feeling utterly wronged. Even now, she still thought he was having an affair with Serene? Sigh... Antonio felt desolate about his future. He could only let out a helpless sigh and patiently said, "Alright, alright, I'll listen to you. What do you want me to do now?"
Sarah extended her hand towards Antonio. "Give me your phone."
Antonio obediently handed his phone to Sarah. After receiving the phone, Sarah immediately turned it off and conveniently put it in her pocket.
"I'll keep the phone here. You won't be able to tip anyone off. Now, take me to the hospital."
After saying this, she straightened her collar and took the lead. With a pressing matter at hand, Sarah felt that any romantic entanglements were no longer important. Antonio was a criminal for forcing himself on her; this was already a settled fact. She was tired of fighting and arguing.
Since he was unwilling to give her up no matter what, she would make use of Antonio. The rest could wait until she had figured out her origins. She didn't believe Antonio could trap her for a lifetime.
Behind her, Antonio pursed his lips, feeling extremely wronged, yet he was unable to defend himself. His credibility in Sarah's heart had plummeted. He had done it to himself; he deserved it.
"Are you coming or not?" Sarah saw that Antonio hadn't caught up and asked in a cold voice.
"I'm coming!"
The two of them set off by car. When they arrived at the hospital, Kevin was still asleep. Sarah asked the nurse, who told her that Kevin's condition had been stable and there were no abnormalities during her absence. Sarah finally felt relieved and sat by the bed, gently calling Kevin.
"Dad, wake up."
With all the evidence that Kevin might be her biological father right in front of her, Sarah felt particularly bitter when she called him 'Dad.'
"Dad, wake up. I have something to ask you," Sarah said, her voice trembling slightly.
Kevin slowly woke up and, in his daze, mistook Sarah for his biological daughter, Serene. "Serene, you're here."
Sarah bit her lip, reluctantly responding to the name Serene. "Yeah, Dad, I want to show you something."
She took out her phone, found the picture of the bracelet, and showed it to Kevin. "Do you remember this?"
Kevin slowly sat up in bed and squinted his eyes. After a long time, he finally reacted, laughing a little. "Silly girl, are you teasing your dad again? Didn't I tell you? I made this bracelet for your mother. We recognized each other because of this bracelet. Have you forgotten?"
Kevin's eyes were full of laughter, staring intently at the picture of the bracelet on the phone, seemingly very nostalgic. But Sarah's breathing became rapid, her hand holding the phone trembled, and her eyes turned red and sore.
So, it was really like that...
Kevin sighed, "When your mother left, she didn't take anything with her except this bracelet. I've been searching for her for so many years. I found you, all thanks to this bracelet."
"Serene, why did you suddenly ask about this?"
Sarah's tears flowed down her cheeks. Kevin was really her father! Her throat felt dry and soar, and her vision was blurred. Kevin was still a patient; she didn't want to stimulate him, so she quickly turned around, wiped away her tears, and pretended to laugh.
"Nothing, I just wanted to test you."
Sarah's eyes and nose were red, and although there was a smile on her face, her appearance made Kevin feel distressed.
"Do you miss your mom? Even though your mom is no longer here, Dad will still love you and make up for the love you’re missing from your mom."
Sarah couldn't hold back any longer and began to cry.
Kevin lovingly stroked his daughter's head, "Don't cry, my dear Serene. Your small face is all tear-streaked. When I found you back then, you were also such a crybaby. You even protested about going to the hospital because you were afraid of injections. It scared me so much that I couldn’t even think about taking you to the hospital when you were sick. I could only call a family doctor to try to avoid giving you injections."
Sarah understood. Back then, Serene must have been protesting about going to the hospital because she was afraid of Mr. Jerrett doing a paternity test, right?
"Dad, when you found me back then, didn't you ever think about doing a paternity test with me? You believed I was your daughter just because of a bracelet?"
Sarah asked tentatively.
Kevin, however, waved his hand nonchalantly, "The proof of a paternity test isn't as important as this bracelet. I made this bracelet by hand, and it even has your mother's initials on it. Isn't this more real than a piece of paper?"
Sarah was filled with anger. Serene had really deceived Kevin for so many years!
Antonio, who was listening to their conversation, was also shocked. Serene was really an imposter! Mr. Jerrett had been deceived for so many years!
Kevin, who was now enjoying top-level medical resources, was old and seriously ill. After chatting with Sarah for a while, he became physically exhausted and fell into a deep sleep.
Sarah covered him with a blanket and watched as he gradually fell into a deep sleep. The expression on her face slowly changed from heartache to firm hatred.
Antonio asked, "Sarah, do you want to do a paternity test with Mr. Jerrett?"
Sarah was silent for a moment, then leaned down to comb a few hairs from Kevin's head into a bag, along with some of her own hair.
"Let's go together."
The two quickly went to the paternity testing center. Using the expedited process, the results came out quickly.
"Parent-child relationship is 99.99%... 99.99%..." Sarah repeated over and over, her face covered in tears.
So, her biological father was right in front of her. The biological father she had been searching for so hard for so many years was right by her side!
No wonder she felt so close to Mr. Jerrett when she first met him. She thought that Mr. Jerrett had mistaken her for someone else because of his illness. Now it seemed that some things couldn't be perfectly explained even by science.
"Sarah, are you okay?" Antonio wanted to wipe the tears off Sarah's face, but she slapped his hand away.
Sarah grabbed Antonio's collar, trembling as she asked, "Do you believe what I said now? There's something wrong with Serene. She's the one who hurt my brother! My intuition was not wrong!"
Sarah choked back a sob, "She stole my identity, and for some reason threw away the bracelet, which my brother accidentally found. So, she chose to kill to keep her secret!"
Antonio clenched his fists. As he looked at Sarah, who was so close to a full-on breakdown, he couldn't express how much he hated Serene!
If it weren't for Serene, he and Sarah would never have ended up where they were now, and they wouldn't have had so many trials. From the original Victor Edwards to the later kidnapping, to the recent incident; it must have all been her doing!
"Sarah, I believe you. To be precise, I never doubted what you said. I just thought at the time that Serene and Brian were people with no intersection. I didn't know there was so much hidden behind this! I've been having James investigate Serene all this time, to verify your suspicions."
"Sarah, I believe everything you say; can you also believe me?"
