Chapter 300 Antonio is Furious

For two consecutive days, Antonio and Sarah found themselves immersed in the affairs of the Valencia family. The imminent departure of Antonio necessitated a reshuffling of responsibilities within the company. Consequently, Antonio had arranged to rendezvous with Serene at the Jerrett residence three days hence.

As their anniversary dawned, the majority of the handover within the Valencia dynasty had been accomplished. Sarah had anticipated a moment of respite, but Antonio abruptly suggested a joint inspection of some company operations.

The CEO's surprise inspections were not uncommon, so Sarah harbored no suspicions. However, her astonishment was palpable when she saw the extravagant dress Antonio had selected for her.

"I'm inspecting work, not attending a fashion show. Why the grandeur?" Sarah queried, unable to comprehend Antonio's intentions.

"Isn't this your inaugural inspection as the CEO's wife? I can't allow the employees to think I'm neglecting you," Antonio responded, his lie delivered with casual ease.

Sarah glanced at her tailored suit, wondering who could possibly believe Antonio was mistreating her.

"Alright, change into this. I'll wait for you in the car," Antonio ushered Sarah towards the dressing room, instructing James to begin preparations.

Emerging from the dressing room in the opulent dress, Sarah scrutinized the address. "Why is it so remote? I've never heard of our business extending there. Are we venturing into the tourism industry?" The location was a burgeoning tourist hotspot, renowned for its expansive flower fields. When had Valencia Inc. begun dabbling in tourism? Even if it was an acquisition, how could she have been kept in the dark?

Antonio cleared his throat. "I just want to survey the area. If it's as appealing as they say, we might consider development."

"Such a move could bolster Valencia Inc.'s reputation and provide us with a delightful weekend retreat."

"The boss of Valencia Inc., always the opportunist. Even a potential weekend getaway is seen as a business prospect," Sarah quipped, not giving it much thought.

In truth, the flower field was not open to the public. Antonio had reserved it beforehand. Soon, they arrived at the prearranged location. The serene landscape and the superior air quality were a refreshing change from the city's hustle and bustle. Sarah inhaled deeply, "This place is indeed lovely," she remarked.

As she spoke, her eyes fell upon a field of cosmos flowers in the distance, sparking her excitement. "Antonio, look! Are those cosmos flowers?" Sarah hadn't anticipated encountering her favorite flowers during their inspection, and her face lit up with a smile.

However, the surroundings were thick with bushes, devoid of any paths for pedestrians. "Did we take a wrong turn?" she wondered aloud.

Antonio gently brushed Sarah's hair. "Let's go and see."

"But how do we get there?" Sarah asked, her lips pursed in confusion.

In response, Antonio signaled behind him, and a fleet of colorful hot air balloons ascended from the ground. The largest of them descended slowly before them.

Sarah was awestruck. "What... what is happening?"

"Perhaps it's a surprise from the locals for the tourists. Let's go up first," Antonio teased.

Thrilled by the unexpected turn of events, Sarah clasped Antonio's hand, ready to board the hot air balloon.

However, their plans were abruptly interrupted as a uniformed security guard rushed towards them, brandishing a water hose.

He activated the hose, dousing the flames that fueled the hot air balloon. "Hey, what are you guys doing? Open flames are prohibited here. Don't you have any common sense?" he yelled at Antonio.

"We didn't do this. Isn't it a special feature of your attraction?" Sarah responded, taken aback.

"Do you think we're insane to implement such a feature?" the security guard retorted. "Look at you young folks. How can you be so reckless? No fires are allowed in the mountains to ensure the safety of the forest."

"This might not be a forest, but it's a flower meadow. Since you didn't do it, let us leave. I'll find someone to handle this!"

Antonio was flabbergasted. He had previously confirmed with the administration that hot air balloons were permitted. Why was it now forbidden?

However, he couldn't confess his plans in front of Sarah. It would spoil the surprise, so he swallowed his indignation.

Although disappointed, Sarah knew they couldn't flout the rules.

"Alright, let's leave. Thank you, sir," she said, guiding Antonio back to the car.

"I think we might have taken a wrong turn. Shall we detour and find the tourist entrance?" Antonio suggested, his fingers brushing against the engagement ring in his pocket, his frustration almost palpable.
