Chapter 552 He Must Have Lost His Memory!
Benjamin let out a scoff. 'Nonsense.'
He took out his phone from his pocket, spun it on his finger a couple of times before lighting up the screen, and sent a message to his assistant, Daniel.
Benjamin: [Look into this Antonio guy. I want all his information, including his photo, by tomorrow morning.]
After sending the message, the darkness in Benjamin's eyes grew more intense.
He just couldn't believe it. How alike could they be?
Even Antonio's own wife and children mistook him for their husband and father!
Soon, he arrived at the hospital parking lot. Sarah's driver glanced in the rearview mirror and caught sight of Benjamin. His shocked expression reflected back at him, prompting an unconscious frown as he stepped out of the car.
He didn't even need to ask; he knew exactly what had shocked the driver.
If this continued, wouldn't it mean more complications every time someone who knew Antonio saw him?
Upon thinking about this possibility, Benjamin's demeanor grew even colder as he drove back to his hotel.
As he passed through the lobby, he suddenly paused, then turned in a different direction toward the front desk.
The young lady at the front desk was quite startled by his chilly aura but gathered enough courage to ask, "Good evening, sir. How may I assist you?"
Benjamin shot her a glance and fished out his ID from his wallet, every movement betraying his impatience. His voice was so cold it could send chills down anyone's spine. "A room, please."
"Sir, I'm afraid the presidential suite is no longer available..."
"Just any room then."
The receptionist nervously took his ID. "Alright, sir... Please wait a moment."
In the afternoon, she had noticed that this gentleman, although handsome, possessed a rather disagreeable temper.
Wasn't the lady accompanying him his fiancée? Why did he suddenly require a new room?
But she wouldn't dare voice these questions. They were thoughts securely kept to herself.
It wasn't long before a new room was ready.
Benjamin took the room card with a blank face and strode towards the elevator.
The receptionist watched until the elevator doors closed before finally allowing herself to relax.
'Truly, a Harrington through and through. His presence was as intimidating as that of a top villain from the movies!'
Back at the villa…
Sarah climbed up to the second floor and could hear hushed voices through the door. Ethan and Harper were discussing something quietly, but she couldn't make it out.
Pushing the door open, the two kids immediately pulled the covers over their faces, only to peek out with their eyes at her.
Sarah laughed. "Why are you hiding? Mommy saw you already."
With a pout, Harper sat up. "Mommy... we can't sleep."
Ethan also sat up, his small eyes flickering uncertainly. "Mommy, I was just going to talk to Harper for a bit and then I'd go back to my own bed to sleep."
But how could Sarah be unaware of what they were thinking?
She sighed and sat down between them. "Mommy knows... You're excited because you saw Daddy today, aren't you?"
Ethan and Harper nodded vigorously.
Every time Harper thought about how unhappy their momther had been lately, often staring blankly at Antonio's photo, it broke her heart. "Mommy, now that Daddy is back, you won't have to be sad anymore!"
They missed their father too!
And now he was finally back!
Ethan agreed, "Yeah, Mommy, and Daddy can spend more time with us now. You won't have to be so tired either!"
Hearing their lively voices, Sarah felt a heavy weight on her chest, making it hard to breathe. She lifted her arms and drew both children into her embrace, suppressing the urge to cry. "My sweethearts, you are so good…"
Ethan and Harper, cautious not to hurt the brother or sister in Sarah's womb, didn't lean too heavily on her.
But why did it seem like their mother was still not happy?
"Mommy... why didn't you ask Daddy to stay?" asked Harper, a frown creasing her brow.
Sarah bit her lip hard. "Sweetheart... that man isn't your daddy. He said so himself.
"It's really just someone who looks a lot like your dad," Sarah said, chuckling through sniffles, as if to reassure herself as well. "You see people on TV who look alike all the time, right?"
Ethan and Harper were momentarily taken aback.
They had never considered this possibility...
Sarah knew it was hard for the kids to accept, so she soothingly stroked their hair. "He was not your dad. Your dad hasn't come back yet... So if you see that uncle again, don't call him that, okay?"
Benjamin wasn't known for his good temper, and if the kids annoyed him, it was unclear what might happen.
Ethan and Harper's excitement waned as they hung their heads and mumbled in response, "We get it, Mommy."
Seeing them like this made Sarah's heart ache, but she knew that a prolonged pain was worse than a short one, and keeping them from the truth wasn't a solution either.
"Be good, Daddy will definitely come back. We just need to be a little more patient, okay? Daddy loves us very much. He wouldn't want to be away for too long..."
Harper and Ethan exchanged glances, nodded obediently, and said, "Okay, goodnight, Mommy."
Sarah kissed them on their foreheads, "Goodnight."
She stood up, turned, and left the room.
Ethan and Harper stared wide-eyed and waited until they heard the sound of their mother's bedroom door closing before they began to whisper to each other again.
"Sis, do you really think that man wasn't Daddy?"
Harper thought carefully before replying in a soft, assertive voice, "No! It has to be Daddy! He looks exactly like him!"
Plus, he had listened so intently to everything they said—it was like an unspoken agreement!
Ethan felt the same way. "Mommy said that there are look-alikes in TV shows, but they always turn out to be tricks! They’re either twins or they have amnesia! Daddy doesn’t have a twin, so he must have amnesia!"
