Chapter 505 I Love You
Antonio held Sarah's wrist, his deep gaze piercing her like a sharp knife. His handsome face was adorned with a serious expression, and his eyes were filled with anticipation. Sarah didn't respond. She knew what Antonio meant.
If everything was Serene's design, then were the things that happened in the hotel also fake? Was it all just Serene intentionally trying to drive a wedge between her and Antonio? But even if that were the case, wasn't it Antonio's foolishness that allowed him to be fooled?
"Sarah, can you also trust me? Do you believe that nothing happened between Serene and me? That all those mishaps were deliberately staged by her to destroy our relationship; do you believe me?"
Sarah looked at Antonio but felt that, at this point, it seemed that whether she believed him or not didn't matter. She slowly let go of Antonio's collar, weakly wiping her tears.
"Those are two different things," Sarah looked up at Antonio, who was full of anticipation. "Whether you have a secret relationship with Serene or not, it can't erase the hurt you've caused me."
Antonio felt like he had been stabbed in the heart. Sarah was right; these were two different things. But everything had already happened, and there was no point in explaining it now. He stood there, slowly lowering his head, his tone sincere and earnest.
"I'm sorry, Sarah. I was too impulsive that night; it was all my fault. I know I can’t ask for your forgiveness... Please give me a chance, tell me, what can I do to make you forgive me?"
Sarah didn't want to hear this. She didn't have the energy to listen to Antonio apologize over and over again. But if he hadn’t tried to do any intentional harm, why would there be a need to say sorry?
"Let's find out the truth first."
Sarah was a bit tired. She sat on the sofa, silently massaging her temples. The joy of finding her biological father couldn't make up for the deception her father had suffered over the years, nor could it make her forget the life that had been stolen from her all these years! She would make Serene pay the price!
Antonio sat across from Sarah, picked up an apple from the table, and slowly peeled it, calmly analyzing the current situation.
"The bracelet is now missing, and it's very likely that it was taken by Serene. When I confronted her, she said she had never seen it, which proves her guilt."
Antonio cut the apple into small pieces and handed them to Sarah as he spoke. "Sarah, our priority now is to find that bracelet. That's the only way to convict her."
Sarah nodded but didn't take the apple. "You're right, but I don't know where she could have hidden the bracelet. If it's in her house, we might be able to find it. But if she destroyed or threw it away, there's no way to convict her."
Antonio thought for a few seconds. "No, like you said, she might have dropped the bracelet once before for some reason. But in the end, Brady found it. So, I think she wouldn't throw it away this time. The most likely scenario is that she hid it."
Sarah leaned back silently after hearing this, covering her eyes with her hand in exhaustion.
"You're right, but where could Serene hide the bracelet? It must be somewhere she feels very safe. Where could that be?"
Antonio got up to pour Sarah a cup of warm water.
"Maybe... at her house?"
"Only Serene is at the Jerret home now. If shareholders have important matters, they almost always contact Valencia Inc. Mr. Jerrett is in the hospital, and aside from Serene, no one would go there. Maybe it's hidden in her house."
Sarah nodded, her voice light and airy. She had never felt so exhausted.
Her body and heart were carrying wounds that seemed impossible to heal.
She felt as if she had no strength left and was using her last bit of consciousness to consider Antonio's theory.
"You're right; it must be in her house... I need to go check..."
As Antonio poured the water, he remembered the question he had just asked.
He squeezed the water cup, hesitating to ask, "Sarah, you once said that the bracelet Brady wanted to give you was very important, even a keepsake from your mother. How could you lose such an important thing? Where did you lose it?"
But he received no answer.
Antonio turned around, only to find that Sarah had already fallen asleep on the sofa. Her hand was resting on the edge of the sofa, and her face was etched with exhaustion. Even though she was asleep, her eyebrows were tightly knitted together; she looked extremely tired.
Antonio put down the cup of water and slowly walked over.
He crouched down slowly beside Sarah, gently stroking her tired face.
Thinking about it, Sarah must not have had a good rest these past few days.
How could she possibly sleep peacefully in the room where she had been confined, given the way he had treated her?
She had been tossing around all day today and had hardly closed her eyes.
Add that to the emotional upheaval, it had drained all her energy.
Antonio stroked Sarah's cheek. Her face was extremely haggard, without any of it’s previous glow.
And all this was thanks to him.
He was really a monster!
Antonio clenched his teeth and slapped himself hard, as if it were a punishment. But such punishment was nothing compared to the grievances Sarah had suffered.
Thinking that all this was under Serene's scheming, Antonio clenched his fists even tighter.
He wished he could tear Serene to pieces right now and give Sarah an explanation.
Antonio let out a breath, but regret and sorrow were useless emotions at this time.
He stood up, picked up the sleeping Sarah around her waist, and took her to the rest area of the sickroom.
"Sarah, have a good sleep. When you wake up, everything will be over."
Antonio bent down and kissed her forehead, very gently, as if he were afraid of damaging his treasure.
In her deep sleep, Sarah slightly furrowed her brows, turned over in bed, and unconsciously grabbed Antonio's hand.
Antonio's back stiffened, but his surprise was mixed with a hint of joy.
He held Sarah's hand back and slowly lay down on the bed.
"Is it okay just for tonight? Let me hold you while you sleep... I miss you so much... Sarah, I’m sorry... I love you.”
The next morning, Sarah groggily moved her shoulder.
She had slept so deeply that she hadn’t changed positions all night, causing her shoulder and neck to feel a bit sore.
She turned over, her arm unconsciously flung to the side.
Suddenly, she froze and sat up abruptly.
There was Antonio, lying next to her, sleeping soundly.
A feeling of humiliation suddenly surged In Sarah's heart, and she kicked him off the bed.
"Antonio, how can you be so shameless?"
