Chapter 231 Are You Both So Indecisive?
"Not here."
James shivered, but he still bravely reminded Antonio, "She has been waiting all morning."
Antonio furrowed his brow immediately, feeling annoyed and sighing heavily.
"Tell her to wait in the reception area."
He spoke while tiredly massaging his forehead. After all, she had saved his life. Although he had promised to repay her efforts before, because of his argument with Sarah, he had made her wait all morning.
While Antonio went to meet Serene in the reception area, Sarah coincidentally had a document that needed to be signed.
However, when she went to the office, she found no one there. Looking at the empty office, she felt strangely empty inside.
She found James and asked just as James was coming from the reception area,"Where is Mr. Valencia?"
"He is meeting with a guest in the reception area."
James frowned, not expecting Sarah to approach Antonio at this time. Feeling that the situation could be complicated, he subconsciously showed some avoidance in his expression.
Upon sensing his peculiar gaze, Sarah's eyes narrowed.
"Who is he meeting?"
Seeing that he couldn't hide it anymore, James could only answer truthfully.
In an instant, he felt Sarah's expression turn cold.
"Alright, I understand."
She uttered a cold response and returned directly to her own office without going to the reception area to find Antonio.
Watching Sarah, who was obviously upset, James couldn't help but complain in his heart about being caught in the middle of these two every day. Why couldn't they just talk it out? Clearly, they both cared about each other!
Moreover, wasn't he already promoted to department manager? Why did he still have to act as a messenger between these two?
In the reception area…
When Serene saw Antonio enter, his astonishingly handsome face made her momentarily lost in admiration, instantly evoking memories of last night when he had embraced her after she sprained her ankle. But after a brief moment of absent-mindedness, she regained her composure.
"Mr. Valencia, thank you for yesterday. I am much better now," he apologized softly, her voice clear and gentle.
However, Antonio furrowed his brow. He thought about Sarah's concerns about Serene and the things she had said, his expression resolute. If he had to choose between Sarah and his past benefactor, the answer was obvious.
"Ms. Jerrett, I am truly grateful for saving my life, but let's not meet again in the future."
His deep eyes revealed his unwavering decision.
Serene's heart instantly contracted, feeling a bit hurt as she looked at him, but she didn't behave as if she wanted to entangle him further. She simply asked calmly, "Is it because of Sarah?"
Antonio didn't answer, but his serious expression had already conveyed everything.
About half an hour later, Antonio came out of the reception area and returned to his office. From afar, he saw Sarah standing at the door, holding a document as if she was waiting for him. His heart suddenly skipped a beat. As Sarah took a step forward, Antonio thought she was about to start a conversation with him, and a hint of gentleness naturally appeared in his eyes.
"Why are you here? Why didn't you come inside?" He walked briskly to Sarah's side, but before he could finish his sentence, he noticed her chilly gaze.
"Sign this," she said in a freezing tone, dragging him back into the icy abyss.
Antonio furrowed his brows
"Come inside and let's talk first," he said.
As he spoke, he tried to lead Sarah into the office to explain everything that happened yesterday.
However, Sarah deftly avoided his grasp and remained cold-faced. She even pushed the documents directly into his arms.
"Sign it quickly; it's urgent," she said, clearly unwilling to hear another word from him, her attitude reaching an extreme level of coldness.
Antonio's heart sank heavily.
"Come inside first!"
He forcefully grabbed Sarah's wrist, not allowing her to struggle, and brought her into the office. Unable to free herself from his grip, she had no choice but to follow him inside.
Once the office door closed, Antonio loosened his grip on Sarah's wrist, but she immediately snatched it back.
Antonio figured that she probably knew he was going to meet Serene in the reception room.
Furrowing his brows, he said, "Can you stop torturing yourself? I've said it many times before, there's nothing going on between me and Serene."
Antonio was feeling tired, and his tone reflected it.
Sarah felt a surge of fury rise within her, as if someone had thrown fuel on a burning fire.
"Torturing myself? Who is really torturing whom? Don't you have any sense of self-awareness?" she yelled, causing Antonio's anger to ignite as well.
"I've already explained what happened yesterday, and as for you and Asa, you promised to keep your distance from him. But the moment I left, he went in to provoke and manipulate you. As your husband, am I not allowed to say anything about it?"
Suppressing his rising anger, Antonio's voice grew heavy, making Sarah's expression progressively darker.
She forcefully pushed Antonio away, creating distance between them. She looked at him incredulously. "Hmph! First explain the situation between you and Serene, and then we can talk about anything else! Why did she come looking for you again today? Why is it so hard for you two to let go?"
