Chapter 399 Antonio's Inevitable Defeat
"Antonio!" Sarah's voice was laced with anxiety. However, before she could finish uttering his name, the man with the scarred face silenced her.
Antonio offered Sarah a comforting smile, then continued, "If I win, you won't suffer any losses. I'll settle Victor's debt to you, and you'll let us go."
Jason readily agreed to this seemingly one-sided wager.
"Mr. Valencia, remember your words. Don't accuse us of bullying you later," he cautioned.
"Every word I utter holds true. You can choose the game. I'm at your mercy," Antonio retorted.
"Good! I admire your courage," Jason applauded. "I heard you were playing dice earlier. Let's start with that. Three rounds, the winner takes two out of three."
Dice was Jason's forte. He was eager to assert his dominance over Antonio from the outset.
"No problem. I'll follow your lead," Antonio agreed.
Shortly after, the scar-faced man returned with the dice and other necessary tools.
"The rules are simple, we'll bet on big or small," Antonio said, a faint smile playing on his lips. He shook the dice cup with a calm demeanor, and Jason followed suit. They both placed their dice cups on the table simultaneously.
"Let's begin!"
Jason rolled first, and all five dice landed on six.
Antonio glanced at the result and then unveiled his own roll. The room fell silent in shock.
There were six dice in his cup!
"Damn it, you dare to cheat in front of me!" The scar-faced man slammed his fist on the table in anger.
"Jason, you prepared everything. My wife and children's lives are in your hands. How could I dare to cheat?" Antonio defended himself.
Jason restrained the scar-faced man. According to the gambling den's rules, if cheating wasn't detected, it didn't count.
"Mr. Valencia, well played," Jason said, his eyes narrowing into slits, radiating a chilling aura.
The second round was Pai Gow.
In this round, Antonio was surrounded by numerous henchmen from the gambling den. Even if he wanted to cheat, he couldn't.
However, Jason didn't face the same restrictions.
Pai Gow was another of Jason's specialties, and with the clandestine manipulations of his subordinates, it was almost impossible for him not to win.
Brian, who was bound, watched the proceedings with a furrowed brow.
This wasn't good. Antonio was destined to lose this round, and Jason would undoubtedly cheat in the next. He felt helpless.
He needed to devise a plan.
As anticipated, Antonio lost the second round.
"Jason, you are truly fortunate," Antonio said, aware of Jason's possible cheating. However, he was in enemy territory and had no means to expose it.
Jason chuckled, "You're too kind. How about blackjack for the third round?"
"I said, I'm at the mercy of your command."
Blackjack, the most prevalent card game in the gambling den.
Each player is dealt cards, and the objective is to get as close to 21 points as possible or reach exactly 21 after revealing their cards.
However, this was also the easiest game to cheat in.
Antonio bit his lip, casting a worried glance at his wife and children in the corner.
He noticed Ethan winking at him from there, urging him on. Antonio seemed to understand something and played along.
Antonio was momentarily stunned, but quickly comprehended.
This was Morse code!
Antonio's heart steadied. From Ethan's vantage point, he could clearly see all the cards in Jason's hand.
As long as he knew what Jason's hole cards were, he would have a strategy!
In the corner, Brian exhaled in relief as he received the signal that Antonio understood.
Thankfully, this man was quick-witted; otherwise, his eye-blinking would have been in vain!
"Deal the cards." With newfound confidence, Antonio was no longer afraid of Jason's cheating.
The scar-faced man dealt the cards himself, and naturally, his hand held countless hidden cards that would guarantee Jason's victory.
No matter what cards Antonio held, as long as he could seize the opportunity to switch cards, Jason would undoubtedly win.
Brian observed every card in Jason's hand, using Morse code to inform Antonio of the total points he had accumulated so far…
