Chapter 715 Two Benjamins
So, Otis had never shown his face to Harold before, right? Antonio decided to send him abroad on the down-low.
Antonio was like, "I'll shoot you a pic of some chick later. Just stick to the plan we hashed out. Hit me up if anything weird goes down."
"Got it," Otis said.
Antonio added, "And keep tabs on the folks around Harold."
Antonio's fingers drummed lightly on the railing, a smirk curling his lips as he sneered, "My old man’s always been a self-righteous prick. I bet it’s not just about setting me up with some woman. Keep your eyes peeled."
Otis got the message loud and clear, "Understood, Mr. Harrington."
After hanging up, Antonio's gaze stayed locked on the horizon, his thoughts a mystery.
On the balcony, Sarah had her hands clamped over her mouth, having eavesdropped on the whole convo.
She’d woken up parched and went looking for Antonio, never expecting to stumble on such a secretive chat.
'So, he’s got his reasons? Is that woman actually a plant?' she wondered.
Sarah tiptoed back to bed, replaying everything Antonio had just said in her head, trying to piece it all together but finding it hard to swallow.
'So, Harold is the real villain? What’s this trip abroad about? And who the heck is that woman?' she pondered.
The more Sarah thought about it, the more tangled her thoughts got. Even though she now knew Antonio was acting under duress, she was still pissed he hadn’t clued her in. Did he really think she couldn’t be trusted?
It took her a while to piece it together.
If Harold was the bad guy, then Antonio pretending not to know her and all his actions were to protect her, right?
Sarah gasped, unable to fathom how many things were tied to Harold, or if everything was his doing.
She wondered how Antonio had endured the harm from his father and the separation from his family.
She couldn’t imagine, only feeling a mix of heartache and helplessness.
If Harold wanted to mess with her, there was no way she could dodge it. No matter how much Antonio wanted to keep her safe, they were already caught in Harold’s web.
Not just them, even Antonio himself was in deep trouble.
Only by completely breaking free from this mess could they be safe.
Sarah thought silently to herself. Now that she knew, she had to stand by Antonio’s side and not let him face everything alone.
She kept mulling over these thoughts and unknowingly drifted off to sleep. When she woke up, it was already early the next morning.
Sarah looked around, and both sides of the bed were neatly made.
'Did Antonio stay up all night?' she wondered.
She threw on some clothes and got up, heading towards the balcony.
There was no sign of Antonio on the balcony, just a few cigarette butts showing he’d been there for a while.
Sarah was about to call him when she suddenly spotted a familiar figure downstairs.
Antonio, in a dark coat, was walking briskly away.
'Where’s he off to in such a rush?' she thought.
Sarah’s mind flashed to the mixed-race woman’s profile. Even though she now knew that woman was maliciously planted by Harold, she still felt a pang of jealousy. She pursed her lips and turned back to the room.
Just as she was about to plop down, the door swung open.
Antonio strolled in, breakfast in hand, grinning like he had a secret.
Sarah was floored. "You..."
She pointed at Antonio, then at the balcony, words failing her. After a beat, she managed, "Didn't you just go out?"
She had seen him leave with her own eyes! How could he be back in a flash?!
Antonio didn’t miss a beat, just a flicker in his eyes, and said softly, "I just went downstairs to grab you breakfast. Were you sleepwalking or something? Hmm?"
He set the breakfast on the table, walked over, and wrapped her in a hug, planting a light kiss on her forehead. "Go freshen up and eat. Were you wiped out yesterday?"
Sarah’s attention shifted, her cheeks blushing red.
She got up and headed to the bathroom.
Antonio watched her go, the tenderness in his eyes fading as he thought about what had gone down earlier that morning.
Before dawn, Otis had called, "Mr. Harrington, the person has been brought over."
"Okay," he replied.
After hanging up, Antonio got up quietly.
He took a long look at Sarah sleeping, kissed her lips, grabbed some clothes, and slipped out of the room.
Downstairs, Otis and another guy were waiting in an empty fire escape.
The man, Aaron Baker, wore a mask and a baseball cap, hiding his face.
Antonio navigated through the surveillance blind spots to find them, and Otis greeted him respectfully, "Mr. Harrington."
Aaron also lowered his voice to greet him.
Antonio eyed Aaron’s hat and mask, his gaze sharp. "Take those off."
Aaron glanced at Otis, then removed all the coverings from his face.
In an instant, a face almost identical to Antonio’s appeared.
It was all part of Antonio’s plan.
The human skin mask was something Otis had sourced through special channels from abroad. It had to be kept in a solution to look real.
And it worked like a charm.
Since this actor was specifically found to match Antonio, Aaron’s body shape was also very similar. Unless you were super close, you couldn’t tell them apart.
The Margaret that Harold found probably had only seen info about "Benjamin."
Using Aaron to impersonate him would be enough to fool her.
Otis reported, "Mr. Harrington, he’s been practicing your voice for a while now, and it’s pretty spot on."
Otis couldn’t help but admire Antonio’s genius plan.
With the two of them standing there, aside from their vibe, they looked almost identical.
Antonio smirked, "Thanks."
Otis was taken aback; Antonio had never smiled at him before.
Antonio turned to Aaron, "Otis should’ve filled you in. Your job now is to act with that woman Margaret, without blowing your cover or mine. Do well, and you’ll be rewarded."
Antonio’s voice took on a dangerous edge, a smile playing on his lips as he added, "But if you screw up, it’s game over."
