Chapter 950 Looks the Same
Antonio was considerate of her feelings, which made sense.
But bringing up adopting a child every single time was just absurd!
She took a deep breath. "Let's go home. The kids are waiting for us."
"Alright... fine."
Antonio looked at her with a hint of frustration. "But you gotta promise me, no more contact with Bob, and definitely no meeting him alone."
Sarah couldn't help but smile bitterly at his tone. "I've explained it to you... Can you stop making things harder for yourself? There's really nothing between me and him."
The reason she helped take care of Nia was because she felt the child was innocent.
She had an indescribable feeling towards Nia. Every time she saw Nia, she felt both sad and happy, as if she was seeing Eden.
But this feeling was too strange. Even if she explained it, Antonio would probably think it was due to postpartum hormones.
Even Sarah herself thought so.
So she selfishly used this child to heal her wounds.
Antonio, hearing her explanation, couldn't insist any further and reluctantly turned the car around and drove back home.
When they got home, the scene before them made both of them feel conflicted.
The living room was filled with laughter. The kids surrounded Nia, doing everything they could to make her happy.
"Mrs. Valencia, you're back."
The housekeeper came out of the kitchen, smiling at the scene in the living room. "Mr. Ryan Valencia and Mr. Harper Valencia have grown up. They just asked me to bring Nia out, saying they'd watch her. They've been playing for a while now, and she hasn't cried once."
Sarah and Antonio exchanged a complex look.
It seemed the kids really thought of Nia as Eden.
Ethan saw them at the door and ran over excitedly. "Dad! Mom! Eden just smiled at us! She really likes us!"
Antonio's brows furrowed, and he didn't say anything.
This was the Morrison family's child; he couldn't bring himself to like her.
But Sarah and the kids liked her, which was quite... dramatic.
He took a deep breath. "I have some work to take care of. I'll be busy for a while."
"Dad..."
Ethan pouted in confusion. "Mom, why does Dad seem unhappy?"
Sarah watched Antonio walk towards the study, feeling a bit suffocated. She clenched her hand slightly and forced a smile. "No, Antonio is just thinking about work. You go back and play with... Eden. She's still young, take good care of her."
The kids didn't know about Eden's situation. Revealing the truth now would be too cruel.
Let them be happy for a while.
Ethan's attention was quickly diverted, and he bounced back to the living room.
Sarah stood there for a long time, feeling that the scene was unbelievably beautiful, like a dream that could disappear at any moment, so unreal.
It was unreal.
After all, that wasn't Eden.
She lowered her gaze, not wanting to see this self-deceptive scene anymore, and turned to go upstairs.
The kids were all focused on Nia, not noticing Sarah and Antonio's unusual behavior.
Ryan stared at Nia's little face and suddenly said, "Don't you think Eden looks a lot like Mom? From this angle, she looks just like Mom's childhood photos!"
"I noticed that a long time ago!"
Harper proudly raised her chin. "I saw it in Mom's room last night!"
Ethan tilted his head to look from Ryan's angle. "Really? But I haven't seen Mom's childhood photos. Brian."
"You definitely haven't! Ryan and I saw them alone last time!"
Harper's eyes suddenly lit up. "That album is still in the drawer downstairs. I'll go get it and show you!"
She slid off the couch and walked to the cabinet by the balcony, rummaging through it. Soon, she exclaimed, "Found it!"
Brian, who had been playing with toys to entertain Nia, sat up straight.
"Bring it over, let's see."
"Yay!"
Harper excitedly signaled everyone to gather around. "Grandpa said all of Mom's childhood photos are here. Some of them really look like Eden!"
She quickly found the photos she mentioned. The little girl in the pictures, with her rosy cheeks, indeed looked strikingly similar to Nia.
Ethan laughed. "I didn't know Mom was so cute as a kid!"
"Yeah." Brian continued, "Eden is just as cute as Mom."
Ryan suddenly got inspired and found Antonio's childhood album too. The kids seriously compared which features Eden inherited from Antonio and which from Sarah.
The more they looked, the more they realized Nia had completely inherited their features.
Antonio and Sarah had no idea that the kids, by sheer coincidence, were uncovering the truth...
Until the afternoon, the Valencia Villa welcomed two unexpected guests.
Sarah heard from the housekeeper that someone was at the door. When she came out and saw who it was, she was stunned.
"Mary!"
What was Mary doing here?
Mary opened her arms and hugged her tightly, her voice choked with emotion. "If I hadn't come to see you myself... would you still be telling me you're fine?"
They had kept in touch, and Mary had promised to visit when Sarah had her baby.
But so much had happened in the Northwest, so Sarah didn't let her come and hid the fact that the baby was stolen, not wanting Mary to worry.
But from their conversations, Mary always felt something was off, so she had Timothy ask around.
It turned out there had been so many incidents in the Northwest!
The baby was born prematurely and went missing, Antonio had a car accident and needed a kidney transplant.
Although they had tried hard to keep these events under wraps, Timothy had high-level access in the medical system, so finding out internal information wasn't difficult.
Soon, Mary knew the whole truth.
She was heartbroken, not knowing how Sarah had managed to get through it alone. The more she thought about it, the more worried she became, so she dropped everything and rushed over.
Sarah was deeply moved, her eyes reddening as she gently patted Mary's head. "I'm really fine."
Mary let go of her and pretended to be angry, pinching her cheek. "You've lost weight, and you say you're fine?"
"Well, it's a good way to lose weight."
Sarah held her hand and then looked at Timothy, nodding politely. "Dr. Reed, you're so busy, how did you find time to come along?"
