Chapter 251 He is Willing to Sacrifice for Sarah
"Want to challenge me in swimming? If you lose, Sarah will belong to me. Do you dare?"
Richard's mother noticed her son's unhappy expression when he caught up with Antonio and felt worried. Yet, she never expected to see her son actually gambling Sarah with Antonio!
She slapped her son's back heavily in shock, thinking he had gone mad.
"Richard! You're crazy, don't talk nonsense!"
"Mom, stay out of it. This is between us!
"Antonio, tell me if you dare or not! Will you or won't you?"
Richard pushed aside his mother, showing a strong determination that he wouldn't stop until they had a competition today.
Upon seeing his seriousness, Antonio's lips tightened. His eyes filled with piercing coldness, as if they were embedded with sharp thorns, staring directly into Richard's eyes.
He spoke in a deep, authoritative voice, his words carrying a natural aura of oppression, "She was mine from the beginning. Comparing with you? Are you qualified?"
Richard was frightened by Antonio's sudden imposing presence and was left speechless.
He knew Antonio was right. They were already married and very intimate. Judging from the marks on Sarah's neck, they were intimate last night as well.
Thinking this, Richard glanced at Sarah's back, full of unwillingness.
Antonio noticed his gaze, and his face immediately became extremely dark, his eyes even more terrifying.
Seeing that Antonio still hadn't agreed after a long pause, Richard swallowed his saliva, gathered his courage, and pressed on, "If you refuse, it implies you're scared, right? I don't care if she was originally yours or not. But now, someone else is interested in her and wants to vie with you.
"However, you reject it, thinking it's confidence. Yet I perceive it as nothing but laziness! Are you certain Sarah shares your perspective and not mine?""
Antonio didn't need this foolish competition to prove his love for Sarah. He believed she could see all the efforts he had made for her.
Antonio subconsciously turned his head and looked at Sarah's charming figure by the coastline, where the campfire illuminated her. His whole being softened.
He thought, 'Maybe sometimes love needs this kind of childish sacrifice?'
Suddenly, Antonio changed his mind. "Let's compete."
He wanted Sarah to know that for her sake, even if it was this kindergarten-level game, he was willing to give his all and enjoy it.
Seeing that the two of them were really going to race, Richard's mother's face turned particularly ugly.
Their family grew up in a fishing village, spending their childhood immersed in the water. The water was like their second home.
Now Richard actually wanted to compete with his own expertise, not to mention Sarah already belonged to someone else—what kind of situation was this!?
...
Sarah had just finished setting the campfire and was heading back when she noticed the lively scene by the coastline on the other side.
Out of curiosity, she walked over and was surprised to see Antonio and Richard preparing for some kind of sport by the beach, surrounded by villagers.
"What's going on?"
The villagers excitedly exclaimed, grabbing her, "Richard is having a swimming competition with your husband! We rushed over when we heard the news."
Upon hearing that the two were going to compete in swimming, Sarah's eyes filled with surprise. Antonio wasn't someone who liked to showcase his abilities through competitions, so why was he suddenly swimming competitively?
Just as she was wondering, Richard pointed towards the sea ahead. "How about we see who can swim to the reef on the other side and back first?"
Children who grew up in the fishing village would do this almost every day, swimming from the shore to the reef on the other side. There was even an undercurrent that made it more challenging for those who hadn't swum this route before.
Richard's father's face darkened. "Richard! Antonio still has injuries!"
Richard's eyes gleamed, ignoring the concern. He continued to stare at Antonio while gritting his teeth. "Are you going to compete or not? If you're scared, just say it already."
Antonio coldly glanced at him with a hint of displeasure. "Let's begin."
Seeing that Antonio remained calm and composed, Richard became even more defiant. How could someone who spent every day in the water lose to someone who was accustomed to life on land in swimming?
"Let's go! I'll count down from three, and then we jump."
He raised his head, oozing confidence. Then, both of them plunged into the water before everyone, creating two large splashes.
At the start of the race, Richard pulled ahead, leaving Antonio trailing behind. When Richard turned his head to take a breath, he noticed that Antonio was gradually closing the distance. He became more convinced of his victory.
Yes, he wasn't inferior to Antonio in any aspect!
However, when they reached the reef, Antonio suddenly made an agile turn and, using the momentum of the reef, swiftly caught up with Richard!
Richard hadn't reacted yet when Antonio's speed suddenly increased. He created splashes in the water, adorned with dazzling light against the backdrop of the sun.
Richard desperately tried to catch up but saw Antonio reach the finish line before him. Startled, Richard paused, and his muscles cramped. He grimaced in pain, flailing for a moment before starting to sink.
Antonio, who was about to go ashore, noticed Richard's condition and reluctantly turned back. Just as Richard felt like he was suffocating, he suddenly felt someone grabbing his neck. Shortly after, he was pulled back to the surface.
Due to the cramp, Richard couldn't exert any strength and allowed Antonio to swim to the shore with him in tow.
Once they reached the shore, everyone hurriedly ran over.
"Are you alright?"
Sarah nervously held his hand but then looked up and saw Antonio's extremely pale face. “What’s wrong with you? Your face looks awful!”
She crouched down, her thoughts solely focused on Antonio. His forehead was covered in a fine sheen of sweat, the previously injured wound now gradually leaking a strikingly red color.
“Your wound has reopened! I’ll take you to see a doctor!”
Sarah anxiously wanted to help him press down on his bleeding wound, but she hesitated, urgently wanting to support him and take him to the doctor.
Antonio quickly grabbed her hand to comfort her, "It's okay, it just looks scary but not serious. We'll stop the bleeding and rebandage it later."
Seeing his reopened and shocking wound, Sarah teared up slightly, "Does it hurt?"
Her voice trembled slightly, as she knew how Antonio had narrowly escaped danger before—she was genuinely afraid of him getting into trouble again.
Antonio's thin lips trembled, torn between wanting to reassure her that he was fine and not in pain, yet when he caught a glimpse of Richard, who had been staring at Sarah all along, his gaze shifted. His shoulders drooped, and he slowly spoke, "It hurts."
Someone who had never shown their vulnerable side suddenly displaying it in front of you was undoubtedly a tremendous shock...
