Chapter 478 Is Brady Awakening?

Just now, she saw it—Brady's eyelashes moved! It was slight, as if a breeze had brushed past them, but she was absolutely certain she hadn't been mistaken!

“Doctors! Doctors!” Sarah couldn’t be bothered to discuss the truth of the matter with Antonio any longer; she hurriedly ran out to find a doctor.

"Doctor, my brother's eyelids just twitched. Does that mean he’s waking up? Is it possible for him to regain consciousness?!"

The doctor looked surprised upon hearing Sarah’s words. There had been cases of coma patients showing physical movement before, but never this soon. Could it truly be a miracle?!

He quickly followed Sarah into the ward and arranged for Brady to be sent to the examination room for a series of tests.

Antonio wanted to tag along, but Sarah stopped him. "I won't allow you near my brother. Who knows what you're really up to!"

Antonio felt an extreme bitterness in his heart, but there was nothing he could do except wait in the ward.

Meanwhile, Sarah anxiously waited outside the examination room.

After thirty minutes, the doctor brought Brady back out. He looked at Sarah regretfully, "Ms. Miller, I'm sorry. After conducting a comprehensive system check on Mr. Miller, there are no signs indicating that he's about to wake up."

However, Sarah was insistent. "But I am sure I wasn't mistaken. I definitely saw my brother's eyelids twitch! Doctor! Can you check again please, but more thoroughly this time?"

The doctor hesitated for a moment before asking, "What were you doing just now when his eyelids twitched?"

Sarah bit her lower lip and hesitated before replying, "I... I was arguing with someone over some issues. But what does that have anything to do with this?"

Understanding dawned on the doctor's face, "Perhaps the content of your argument stimulated the patient's brain, causing him to have a brief moment of consciousness. I have seen similar cases before. There’s one particularly notable case abroad that is very similar to Mr. Miller’s situation, where a person became comatose due to a traumatic injury.

"The family used an advanced technology from overseas to stimulate the patient's brain, targeting sensitive nerves and their perception of the outside world, which eventually led to the patient's awakening."

Sarah's eyes lit up. "Can my brother undergo this kind of treatment now?"

"Given his current physical condition, there should be no problem. However, this technology is only available abroad and hasn’t been introduced domestically."

With a sigh, the doctor continued, "And up to date, that was the only success story. No other similar success stories have been reported. Besides, the treatment process is also very lengthy. It’s not just about stimulation; waking a patient up isn’t so straightforward.

"Ms. Miller, you really need to discuss this with your family first. To be honest, I can't guarantee the success of this technology. It hasn't been introduced domestically partly because there are concerns about potential side effects. You need to think it over carefully."

That was all the doctor could say; the rest was up to Sarah to decide.

Sarah looked at Brady lying on the hospital bed, appearing more lifeless than ever, and fell into deep thought.

Sarah didn't rush to have the nurses take Brady back to the ward. Instead, she stood beside the bed, looking at her sleeping brother.

Her heart was filled with sorrow.

"Brady, you heard us talking just now, didn't you? You heard Serene falsely accusing you, right? That's why you reacted; you want to prove your innocence, don't you?"

However, there was no response from Brady, only the faint sound of his breathing proving that he was alive. Yet that breath sounded so weak.

Sarah fought back the tears in her eyes. "Brady, regardless of the treatment’s effectiveness, I want to give it a try. If it were you, you’d agree too, wouldn’t you?

"If there’s even the slightest hope, I don’t want to give up. I want you to wake up soon so we can spend our days together again, as a family. I don’t want us to be separated again, ever."

Tears streamed uncontrollably down Sarah’s face. She repeatedly wiped away the tears, taking a long time before she could finally swallow back the bitter emotions.

"If we go abroad, it will be for a very, very long time. There is no set duration, and nobody can guarantee anything. Brady, that means I’ll have to part ways with him..."

Even now, Sarah couldn’t deny that she deeply loved Antonio. Holding onto love and letting go of love were equally difficult.

She had no idea how to deal with her relationship with Antonio.

But now, it seemed as if fate had presented her with a choice capable of breaking the deadlock—leaving for a foreign country, thereby slowly severing everything with Antonio.

Sarah let out a deep sigh.

“Brady, I truly, truly like him a lot.”

Holding Brady's hand, Sarah continued, "But no matter how much I like him, I can't accept the fact that he betrayed me. All my choices are based on his feelings for me. If he chooses to give up our love, I won't cling desperately to him.

"Brady, all things considered, I've decided to leave him. I’ll take you and the kids abroad. We’ll forget everything here and start a brand-new life."

Sarah wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes.

At that moment, she finally understood. Nothing mattered more than being with her brother and her children.

With a resolute heart, determination filled Sarah’s eyes.

Meanwhile, back in the hospital room, Antonio was sitting on the sofa. He stared blankly at the ring in his hand, feeling both sour and pained in his heart.

This ring was adorned with many light blue gemstones, resembling a night sky filled with stars.
On the inner surface of the ring, the initials of Antonio and Sarah were engraved in a standard French romantic font. However, to Antonio, these elegant script letters felt like painful needles pricking at his eyes.

Had a nurse not accidentally knocked Sarah’s bag off the bedside table when Brady was being wheeled out earlier, he might never have found this ring…

Antonio knew Sarah and the kids had been preparing a birthday surprise for him that day.

And this ring, Antonio realized, was meant to be Sarah’s birthday gift to him.

His eyes reddened with emotion, but more than that, he was consumed with a poignant sense of regret.

He slammed his fist down on the coffee table. If only he had known, he would never have chosen to see Serene that day—no, he shouldn’t have gone to see her alone at all!

He had been so foolish!

He was supposed to have had a romantic birthday date and a wonderful evening with Sarah, but now...

He had lost everything.

Even this ring, Sarah wasn't planning to give to him anymore.

He had ruined it all!
