Chapter 100 Don't Mess Around Here
Antonio wouldn't pull a stunt in front of all these folks, right?
Seeing Sarah's worry, Antonio's eyes lit up, and a cheeky grin spread across his thin lips. He got up with her.
He raised his hand, making her spin around, then smoothly pulled her into his arms, whispering in her ear, "No matter how far we're apart, we're still meant to be."
Sarah was caught off guard and crashed into Antonio's solid chest. She frowned and tried to push him away, but his grip on her waist was like a vice.
Antonio's warm breath tickled her skin, sending a shiver down her spine. Then, something cool touched her earlobe. Realizing what it was, Sarah stiffened, her eyes widening in shock.
Jerk!
Antonio's lips brushed against her earlobe, maybe on purpose, maybe not. He smirked, spinning her around the dance floor before she could even think to resist.
He looked down at her flushed cheeks and neck, satisfaction gleaming in his eyes.
To Sarah, the dance felt like it lasted a century. Finally, as the last note played, she let out a long sigh of relief.
The crowd erupted in applause. Amidst the fake flattery, Antonio led Sarah off the dance floor, a hint of lingering desire on his handsome face.
Once the show was over, everyone went back to their own thing.
Taking advantage of the moment, Sarah shook off Antonio's hand and walked away with a cold expression.
She found a quiet spot on the rooftop, the cool night breeze whisking away the warmth from her face.
Just as she started to calm down, Antonio's voice came from behind her. "Who said you could dance with another guy?"
Sarah frowned, not wanting to deal with him, but Antonio marched right up to her, his sharp-featured hand grabbing her wrist. "Sarah, don't forget your role tonight."
Sarah found his questioning laughable. She yanked her hand away and snapped, "Stop causing trouble. If you've got an issue, talk to the host and ask why they set up such a dull part! I followed the rules and danced the first dance with my partner. Why are you making a fuss?"
Antonio's face turned icy. Damn it, her partner was supposed to be him, and only him!
Sarah glanced at Antonio's darkened face, indifferent, and even let out a cold snort. "This is a setup by Mr. Cox. I just paired up according to the number on my wristband."
The mention of the "wristband" made Antonio's anger flare. His handsome face tightened. "Alex took my wristband. Number 13 was mine. Someone switched the numbers secretly. That's how he lucked out to dance with you."
Hearing the word 'stole' infuriated Sarah. Clearly, Antonio's words had angered her, and she glared back at him.
Even if Antonio was pissed about the host's setup, he shouldn't be throwing shade at Alex!
She trusted Alex; he wouldn't pull a stunt like that.
Plus, if Antonio had forced her to show up as Mrs. Valencia, why was he dancing with Lisa earlier, stirring up gossip?
Why could he dance with Lisa, but she couldn't dance with Alex?
Her anger flared up, and Sarah snapped, "Are you out of your mind? Who'd be dumb enough to steal this?"
Before Antonio could clap back, she fired off, "You said number 13 was yours. The wristbands were handed out randomly, and the draw was random too. How could Alex know your number, and how could he know I'd be the winner tonight?"
To Antonio, her words sounded like she was defending Alex. His eyes darkened, and the rage in his eyes seemed ready to burst into flames.
He had rigged the wristband numbers in advance, but after being bumped by that kid, number 13 ended up in Alex's hands.
Antonio instinctively wanted to spill the truth, but his pride held him back, and he pressed his lips tightly together, saying nothing.
Seeing his reaction, Sarah felt even more frustrated. She had no time to care why he was hesitating and assumed he had no argument left.
She had had enough of his bossy and unreasonable behavior, and she wasn't gonna put up with it anymore.
Her repeated compromises had only made Antonio more aggressive, threatening her with Brady and now slandering Alex. It was shameless!
Sarah felt disgusted by Antonio's actions and didn't want to deal with him anymore. She turned and walked away.
In the shadows, Philip and Lisa watched the scene unfold.
A gleam of satisfaction flashed in Lisa's eyes, and she smiled smugly.
Meanwhile, Sarah quickly left the rooftop and headed back inside.
Away from Antonio, her anger still hadn't cooled off. Seeing the restroom ahead, she went in and splashed some cold water on her face.
Too much had gone down today. Harper was wrongly accused by Antonio early in the morning and ended up in tears. Sarah, furious, confronted Antonio about it, only to have him insult both her and Harper. Later, he even used Brady to threaten her, forcing her to attend this banquet.
She had thought she could endure until the end, but she ended up meeting the last person she wanted to see.
Then she became the lucky one, which should have been a good thing, but Antonio couldn't stand Alex being her dance partner and came to question her, causing a scene and even accusing Alex of stealing his wristband.
It had only been a day, but it felt like a week to her.
If it weren't for Antonio, she wouldn't have had to endure so many absurdities.
When would Antonio finally give her some peace?
At that moment, a female server came in to wash her hands. Sarah noticed her out of the corner of her eye but didn't pay much attention. She dried her hands and turned to leave.
As Sarah turned, the server abruptly straightened up and, from an angle Sarah couldn't see, grabbed a wooden stick and swung it directly at the back of Sarah's head.
