Chapter 938 Eden is Dead

Earlier, they managed to keep it together because they clung to a shred of hope.

But now, every detail Juan mentioned matched Eden perfectly!

The pink insulated box, and the red string bracelet she wore.

The doctor who examined her had given it to her, saying that in their hometown, the red string symbolized health and safety, and that heaven would surely protect her and Eden.

But now Eden was gone, leaving only these items behind.

Antonio knew this too. He stood there, stunned as if struck by lightning, before tremblingly opening the box.

The contents were simple and clear.

A tiny baby outfit and the red string symbolizing safety.

"Eden..."

Sarah's tears fell silently, her voice choked.

Even when she tried to call out the name, it was just a trembling shape of her lips before she hoarsely whispered, "Eden... Mommy and Daddy are here to take you home."

Juan looked at the devastated couple in front of him, feeling a pang of sympathy, but he said nothing. He waited until their emotions had calmed a bit before speaking.

"I asked to meet you today to return these items. Even though the child was young, I'm sure they would want to be with their biological parents. You should take the urn home."

He sighed regretfully after speaking.

Antonio, holding Sarah's shoulder, controlled his emotions and sincerely thanked him.

"Thank you. If you have any requests, please let us know. We will do our best to fulfill them."

Juan's lips moved, but he shook his head.

"This was your child to begin with. No need to thank me."

With that, he stood up first, nodding slightly. "I've said all I needed to say. My condolences. I'll take my leave now."

Sarah sat there, dazed, as if all the sounds around her had disappeared, leaving only the small box and the tiny outfit in front of her.

Her Eden...

Had been in this world for such a short time.

Did she think they were unfit parents and was disappointed in them? Was that why she didn't want to be their child?

Sarah clutched the tiny outfit to her chest, her restrained sobs turning into uncontrollable wails, as if someone was slicing her heart into pieces.

When Antonio returned after seeing Juan out, he saw this scene and felt a stabbing pain in his chest. "Sarah!"

"Antonio... do you think Eden felt unlucky to have parents like us?"

Her broken voice sounded like a lifeless rag doll.

"Otherwise, why would she leave us?"

"No, she wouldn't."

Antonio's heart ached as he held her, softly comforting her. "Our Eden is an angel. Even if she's left us now, she's surely with us in another way. Sarah, believe me..."

Sarah shook her head, then nodded.

Her mind was a mess, not knowing what to do next or how to face herself.

"Sarah... let's take her home, okay?"

Antonio packed the small box, seeing that she wouldn't let go of the outfit, he let her keep it. "We'll visit Loving Arms Orphanage one more time, then go home."

Their daughter was gone, and he was in immense pain too.

But life had to go on, and his wife needed care.

Sarah was almost dragged to the car, her lifeless state trapped in the world of losing her daughter.

After they left, Juan, who had already walked away, emerged from the corner with a meaningful smile.

He took out his phone and dialed a number.

"Hey, Mr. Morrison."

"Is it done?"

"Yeah."

Even though there was no one around, Juan instinctively covered the receiver, looking like a thief. "They bought it. They're probably heading to the orphanage with the stuff you gave me."

As long as they confirmed a child was buried there, they would completely believe their daughter was dead!

At that moment, Bob was in the nursery, feeding the baby.

The little girl's cheeks had filled out, looking much rounder than before.

As Bob listened to Juan's voice on the phone, he smirked. "Good job. When they get back from abroad, your son can report to the headquarters."

"Yes, yes... Thank you, Mr. Morrison!"

Juan couldn't contain his excitement, repeatedly expressing his gratitude.

Bob listened expressionlessly, then hung up.

Only this way would Sarah and Antonio stop searching for their child, at least for now.

Only this way, when Sarah saw Nia again, she would feel surprised, wouldn't she?

Everything was going exactly as he had planned.

Antonio wouldn't be crazy enough to do a DNA test on the ashes, would he?

Everything would proceed perfectly according to his plan.

The more Bob thought about it, the more pleased he felt. Looking at Nia, his gaze softened, and in a low voice, he spoke, perhaps to the child or to himself.

"Don't worry, it won't be long... Mommy will be back with us, and we'll be a happy family."

Meanwhile, Antonio and Sarah dug up the small grave and saw the tiny urn inside, their hearts breaking.

"Let's take her home."

Holding the urn, Sarah felt utterly exhausted, both mentally and physically. The fatigue that had built up over this time overwhelmed her, almost causing her to faint.

But her rational mind told her she couldn't collapse now.

At least... not in front of this man.

Otherwise, the kidney transplant would be exposed.

Antonio adjusted his position so she could lie comfortably against his chest, his hoarse voice filled with restrained pain. "Okay."

"Sarah, let's go."

They would take Eden home, maybe plant her in a flower pot or in the yard, but at least she wouldn't be so far away.

She would become the wind, the clouds, or a towering tree.

Sarah couldn't hold back, kneeling on the ground, choking out, "Eden... if you can forgive Mommy, can you choose me again in heaven? I'm sorry... Mommy didn't protect you."

Her daughter hadn't had the chance to see this wonderful world, to greet her siblings or even to feel her parents' embrace.

Antonio sat down beside her, tears welling up in his eyes. "Sarah, it's not your fault."

He added, "It's not Mommy's fault. If anyone's to blame, blame me, Eden..."

The couple sat under the tree for a long time, even making Aaron tear up quietly.

As dusk approached, he checked the time.

Aaron said, "Mr. and Mrs. Valencia..."

The two on the ground finally reacted. He hesitated but said, "The flight back home is soon. Are we still going?"

"Yes."

Antonio stood up, feeling dizzy from lack of oxygen. After regaining his balance, he reached out to help Sarah up.

"Sarah... let's go home."

Sarah, her tears dried up, nodded at his words, like a puppet being led away.
