Chapter 910 Even Sadder

"I will tell him he needs surgery to replace a kidney." Sarah bit her pale lip. "As for the rest, I'll tell him myself later. Please, you must keep this confidential for me."

Before the surgery, Antonio's condition needed to remain as stable as possible. If he knew the kidney he was getting was hers, how could he go through with the surgery? He would refuse it even if he had to force himself to leave the hospital!

In fact, the hospital and Sarah had been trying to find another suitable kidney donor during this time. If there was someone more suitable than Sarah, that would be great.

Unfortunately, they found nothing.

Only her kidney could save him, and she was willing.

Sarah was helped to the ICU door. She had changed into sterile clothing, and the mask covered her frail face, leaving only her eyes, which were barely holding up. She hadn't even seen Antonio yet, and her eyes were already brimming with tears.

She took a deep breath and pushed the door open, her steps somewhat unsteady.

Antonio was still on a ventilator. His handsome face had become much thinner, making his deep-set features even more pronounced, exuding a kind of sickly fatigue and pallor.

"Sarah." Sarah's name came weakly from his lips, his breath fogging up the mask.

At that moment, Sarah could no longer hold back her tears. She cried as she stepped forward to hold his hand, trying to sound as light-hearted as possible. "Antonio, you finally decided to wake up."

Antonio's eyes paused for a moment. He could tell at a glance that the Sarah in front of him was different from before the accident. Then, an uncontrollable joy spilled out. "Sarah, have you remembered everything?"

"Yes, I remember." Sarah tightened her grip on his hand. "I'm sorry, Antonio."

"It's all my fault. Eden's disappearance was already troubling enough, and I caused you so much more trouble, even making you lie here now. I..." She felt deeply guilty.

As she spoke, she couldn't help but cry. She was really scared, scared that Antonio would never wake up again.

Antonio frowned tightly, struggling to lift his hand to wipe her tears. "Silly, why are you crying? I'm fine now, aren't I?"

"Don't worry, I won't die."

With his words of comfort, Sarah's nose tingled even more, but she didn't want him to worry. She nodded and said, "Yes, I know you'll be fine. When you get better, we'll find Eden together."

Antonio's breathing was heavy. After a while, he continued, "I can't take care of you right now. You must take good care of yourself and recover quickly so Eden can see a healthy you, okay?"

"Yes, I know."

"Then you mustn't cry anymore."

"Okay." Sarah sniffled, her eyes flashing as she lifted her head. "I will take good care of myself. You need to get better quickly. Your body is mostly fine now, just some internal kidney damage that needs surgery."

"But it will definitely be successful! Don't worry, the kids and I are waiting for you to get better."

Antonio looked at her serious expression and smiled slightly. "I'm not worried. With you all here, how could anything happen to me?"

"I will definitely get better, I promise. I'll recover quickly, so don't be afraid."

Sarah felt a deep ache in her heart. Even at a time like this, Antonio was comforting her.

She placed his hand on her face, a gesture that made them feel infinitely closer, making her heart, which held a secret, not so cold. "With you here, I'm not afraid of anything. Antonio, I love you too. In this lifetime, I only love you, love you the most."

Antonio smiled gently, his eyes squinting as if hearing Sarah's words made everything worthwhile.

The couple talked for a while longer. Seeing that Antonio was getting tired, Sarah put his hand back under the blanket and said softly, "Get some good sleep. After this surgery, everything will be better."

After leaving the ICU, she leaned against the wall by the door, took a deep breath to calm herself, and then returned to her ward.

Her body was almost ready. Next, she just needed the doctors to finalize the surgery plan, and then they could proceed.

The longer they waited, the worse it would be for Antonio's health.

Maybe because he was awake now, Sarah felt full of courage and hope. While she was in good spirits, she called Sofia and James over.

"James, tomorrow you will take the four kids back to Capital City. For the next while, I'll need you to take care of them. Also, make sure to arrange for bodyguards to ensure their safety."

James responded, then asked worriedly, "Mrs. Valencia, what about you?"

Sarah was silent for a moment. She had deliberately kept the kidney transplant a secret from James, fearing that loyal James would tell Antonio.

She didn't answer him immediately but turned to Sofia. "Sofia, I'll need you and Alex to help during this time. James will take them back to Capital City, and you should go handle the Harris Family matters. We can't keep delaying things there."

She had already caused them enough trouble and couldn't delay important matters.

Sofia held her hand. "What are you talking about? You've done so much for me before, and I never even thanked you. Now you're being polite to me? If we start thanking each other, it will never end."

Sarah felt warmth in her heart, both sour and touched. "Okay, I won't say it."

Sofia, mindful of the children, didn't say much more. "Just take good care of yourself and Antonio. I'll go to Luminara and handle things quickly, then come back to Capital City to take care of the kids. Alex will handle the company, and I'll take care of the kids. Don't worry."

This solved a big problem for Sarah.

She couldn't help but hug Sofia. "Sofia, I'm so lucky to have you as a friend."

"Me too."

They smiled at each other.

The children, seeing they had finished talking, came over one by one, their voices soft and sweet. "Mommy, can't we stay here with you and Daddy?"

"Yes, we all want to stay with Mommy."

How long had they been reunited, and now the family had to separate again?

Brian and Ryan didn't say anything, but their eyes were full of reluctance.

But they also knew very well that with Antonio in trouble, Sarah needed to stay and take care of him. She couldn't also take care of them. Going back to Capital City was the best choice.

Sarah was also reluctant but helpless. "Be good. When Daddy gets better, we'll come back. I'll bring you gifts as compensation, okay?"

Ethan and Harper pouted, trying not to cry.

They should be good. But they really didn't want to be separated from Sarah and Antonio.

Sarah's heart ached as she kissed each of them on the forehead. "You are the best. You have your own things to do. Staying here every day isn't fun, and you can't see other kids. I want you to be happier, so go back, go back to our home in Capital City."

If they stayed here, they wouldn't be able to hide it from them.

Besides, these kids were so smart. It would only add to the sadness.
