Chapter 585 Boyfriend's Shirt

Richard looked like he was facing a formidable enemy and said, "It's a blind date set up by my mom. You don't know how annoying that woman is! I told her I had a girlfriend, but she still keeps bothering me!"

Sofia understood. This was indeed a problem for Richard.

"What should we do now? Where is she?" Sofia asked.

"Right over there!" Richard glanced cautiously and realized that the woman had no intention of leaving. He gritted his teeth and said, "How about this? You pretend to be my girlfriend and deal with her for me!"

Without much hesitation, Sofia agreed readily, "Don't worry, it's a piece of cake."

Richard took a deep breath, stood up, and put his arm around Sofia's shoulder. "Try to act more like my girlfriend!"

Before he could finish his sentence, the woman standing by the roadside turned her head and spotted them. She shouted, "Richard!"

Richard cleared his throat and walked with Sofia confidently and proudly towards her.

"What a coincidence, Ms. Anderson," he said.

The other woman stared at him in surprise and then looked at the woman next to him. "You… You..."

"Allow me to introduce you. This is my girlfriend," Richard said, feigning an apologetic tone, though his expression betrayed no hint of remorse. "I mentioned earlier that she tends to be rather attached, which is why I didn't respond to your invitation. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience."

Sofia continued, "Is Ms. Anderson the blind date you mentioned last time? She seems quite knowledgeable and reasonable! Don't worry. She won't cling to you.

"Otherwise, wouldn't it be embarrassing for her father?"

Ms. Anderson was speechless.

Her face turned unpleasant, and she awkwardly forced a smile. "I...I just happened to be passing by here. I didn't expect to run into you."

"Oh, really?" Sofia smiled brightly. "Since that's the case, we won't disturb Ms. Anderson any longer. Goodbye."

With that, she pulled Richard and turned away.

A faint voice echoed, saying, "Let me tell you. Ms. Anderson seems reasonable, but if there's a woman who won't yield easily, I won't be lenient either!"

The voice was gentle and delicate. Yet, Ms. Anderson couldn't help but shiver as she gazed at the graceful figure.

Richard and Sofia walked for a while before finally separating. He pulled at his collar, feeling annoyed. "This is so irritating! Dealing with women is more exhausting than handling a lawsuit!"

"I think this girl is pretty good. Oh wait, I forgot, it doesn't concern you!" they joked around.

Sofia didn't notice the vibration in her bag indicating a new message.

At that moment, Alex sat in his car after assisting Sofia with tidying up the house. Reflecting on earlier events, he felt a tinge of frustration.

Although he hadn't spent much time with Sofia, this was the first time she seemed to be hiding something from him.

After much hesitation, Alex sent a message to Sofia, asking if she needed a ride. But after waiting for a while, he still didn't receive a reply.

Feeling increasingly agitated, he furrowed his brow and started browsing his friends' updates.

Alex scrolled quickly through his feed until a particular post snagged his attention. He initially scrolled past it but then scrolled back to it.

The post centered around a wealthy young woman named Betty Anderson, whom he had only encountered once before.

The post read: [Could it be that our fate isn't enough? I liked someone so much, but they already have a lover. Should I silently give up, or should I continue to persist...]

But what caught his attention even more was the picture attached to the post. Despite being just a silhouette, Alex felt a sense of familiarity at first glance. When he clicked on the picture for a closer look, he was instantly shocked.

This was Sofia!

The two people in the photo seemed extremely close, their arms linked harmoniously, like a loving couple.

He suddenly remembered how anxious Sofia had been when she left earlier. Was she really going to meet this man?

He glanced at her friend's update again.

'Since when did Sofia become someone else's lover?!'

Alex clenched his phone tightly, anger surging through his chest. With no way to vent, the anger seemed to flare into a blaze.

Wearing a gloomy expression, he tossed his phone aside and headed home.

Just as he entered his house, he received a message from Sofia.

Sofia: [Are you inviting me? Do you want me to come over to your place?]

He paused for a moment, then chose not to reply.

'This woman... She might still be with that man right now!'

And yet, she had the audacity to claim that he was inviting her? Shouldn't she first explain where she was and who she was with? Did she truly believe he wouldn't find out?

Alex's expression darkened further as he hastened his pace up the stairs, intending to shower and then sleep.

Sofia had just bid farewell to Richard and was seated in the car, composing a message to Alex. Her gaze landed on the gift box resting on the passenger seat, and a smile played on her lips. She had noticed Alex's interest in the release date of this watch. He would surely adore it!

Sofia waited for a while but didn't receive a reply. She decided to put her phone away and drove straight to Alex's neighborhood.

Alex was clueless about this.

After taking a shower, he glanced at his phone, only to find no messages except for that one.

He stared blankly at the phone screen. After a while, his mood sank to its lowest point. He threw the phone aside and uncovered the bed, going to sleep.

After an unknown amount of time, Alex heard a doorbell in a daze.

He opened his eyes, uncertain, and sat up.

The persistent ringing gradually subsided. Glancing at the time, he dressed before heading to the door.

As he opened it, a figure came into view. Alex's expression soured momentarily. However, upon seeing the woman standing there, utterly soaked as if she'd been caught in a downpour, his demeanor softened. Hastily, he ushered her inside. "What happened to you?"

Sofia pitifully tugged at his sleeve with her watery eyes on the verge of crying. "I didn't expect it to rain suddenly. With your neighborhood's strict security, I could only park the car outside. I called you... but you didn't answer."

Alex held her hand and walked her inside, feeling guilty.

However, thinking about how she had met another man before this, and her tone wasn't particularly soft, he said, "Then you should go back for now. What if you catch a cold in the rain?"

Sofia switched her shoes, believing he was solely concerned about her, which incited his anger. She spoke softly, "But I'm already here. Going back now would be a waste."

Once she changed footwear, she approached Alex and adopted a flirtatious demeanor. "Look at me. I'm already drenched. Can you comfort me a little, Alex?"

Despite his anger, Alex couldn't resist softening at her pitiful sight. He gently removed her hand from around his neck and said firmly, "Go change your clothes first."

Sofia smiled. "Yes."

Alex casually found one of his own men's shirts for her and went to the bathroom to get a fresh towel. The woman in the living room had already changed her clothes and was currently fixing her hair.

Her fair, slender legs were long and straight, devoid of any excess fat. The oversized white shirt barely covered the roots of her thighs, igniting one's imagination.

Alex's Adam's apple rolled uncontrollably, and he walked over. "Turn around. I'll help you dry your hair."

As soon as he finished speaking, the woman by the sofa obediently sat down, and turned around with her back facing him. "Actually, I didn't get very wet in the rain, and my hair isn't that wet either!"

Alex nodded and carefully dried her hair.

Her hair was not very wet.

Only the outer layer was touched by the rain. Alex observed a droplet perched on the end of her hair, silently making its way down onto her collarbone, gliding along her smooth skin, and seeping into her shirt.
