Chapter 642 Understanding Benjamin's Intentions

Benjamin's anger surged at Alex's words, and the tension between them was palpable.

For a moment, the entrance of the hotel seemed like a battlefield, and passersby could sense the hostility, instinctively moving away to avoid a potential fight.

In fact, Benjamin was clenching his fists, barely restraining himself from starting a fight.

His icy gaze swept over Alex as he said, "You should be grateful. It is in front of Sarah's hotel."

At this moment, he was in a hurry to see her.

After saying this, Benjamin strode past Alex, their shoulders brushing in what felt like a silent declaration of male rivalry.

Alex was furious, turning his head and shouting, "You may be smug now, but your future doesn't look so bright!"

'Just wait for Brian to come back and see how he deals with you!' he thought.

He glared angrily at Benjamin's back, almost exploding with rage.

But Benjamin remained unfazed. He obtained Sarah's room number from the front desk, rode the elevator upstairs, and now stood hesitating at her door.

'When she opens the door, what should I say first?' he thought.

Benjamin's well-defined fingers lifted and dropped several times, which made him feel a bit frustrated.

He had been eager to see her just now.

So why was he hesitating now?

He didn't want to see her resistant expression again.

He took a deep breath and raised his hand again, just about to knock when the door suddenly opened from the inside, revealing Sarah's plain face.

She looked at Benjamin at the door in surprise, taking a while to come to her senses.

"What are you doing here?"

Benjamin felt awkward, absently scratching his neck with the hand that missed the knock. He smiled and said, "Nothing important, just came to check on you."

Sarah found him a bit strange.

Benjamin had always been proud, never showing such a gentle side.

As the saying goes, you don't hit a smiling face. Benjamin's inexplicably good attitude, with his head still bandaged from saving her today, made it hard for Sarah to lash out without reason.

She nodded politely and said, "Thanks for your concern, I'm fine now."

Benjamin visibly relaxed. Seeing her opening the door, he asked, "Are you planning to go out?"

Sarah was stunned for a moment before reacting. "Yes, I was planning to go out."

It was already late at night, and she hadn't eaten much at the party, feeling a bit hungry. Worried about the baby in her belly, she planned to go out and find something to eat.

Distracted by Benjamin, she almost forgot what she was going to do.

Benjamin frowned slightly. "It's not very safe to go out now. I'll go with you!"

Quick to reassure her, he added, "Don't worry, I won't do anything to upset you."

Perhaps unaware, the dream he'd had earlier filled him with tenderness toward Sarah, his gaze softer than before.

It felt like they had really lived together for a long time.

Sarah gave him a strange look, feeling that something was off with Benjamin today.

She hesitated for a while before looking up and saying, "Then, I'll trouble you, Mr. Harrington."

Benjamin felt a bit secretly pleased but maintained a calm demeanor.

He had to admit, he was afraid of being rejected by her.

They descended the stairs side by side. Sarah browsed the convenience store but settled only on a bottle of water, finding nothing to her taste.

She opened the bottle and took a sip, sighing in frustration.

"Why doesn't this convenience store have anything spicy or sour?"

She mumbled to herself. Ever since becoming pregnant, she occasionally craved strong flavors to settle her stomach.

Raising an eyebrow, Benjamin suggested, "Then let's go out and look around!"

The convenience store at the entrance was attached to the hotel, and the selection was definitely limited.

Sarah felt a bit embarrassed. "Mr. Harrington, maybe you should go back first. I need to go to a food truck to find something spicy to eat."

Given Benjamin's status, it didn't seem like he would go to such places.

But Benjamin stepped forward and opened the glass door.

"I'm hungry too, let's go together."

Sarah was stunned, feeling like she had no reason to refuse.

The subtle atmosphere continued outside, with the cold wind blowing in their faces, seemingly bringing them closer and breaking the awkwardness.

Not far from the hotel, there was a food truck that looked quite clean and tidy.

Sarah happily found Mexican food and, finding the place bustling, they ended up sharing a table.

Sarah ordered two servings of Mexican food and then suddenly turned her head.

"Mr. Harrington, do you have any dietary restrictions?"

She was worried that some rich men might be picky, and she didn't want him to start complaining once the food was served.

But Benjamin shook his head, "No."

Sarah was a bit surprised. After telling the owner her preferences, she sat down next to him, watching as Benjamin placed the utensils in front of her.

Her eyes suddenly felt warm.

This action, Antonio had also made it a habit before.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

Benjamin tilted his head slightly and could see Sarah up close.

In this bustling little eatery, the lighting softened her hair.

His Adam's apple bobbed as he looked away and said, "I actually came here today because there's something I want to explain to you."

Sarah glanced at him without speaking, knowing there must be something he wanted to say. Otherwise, he wouldn't have randomly decided to eat Mexican food with her.

"The revival of issues involving the Valencia family. It wasn't my doing."

Benjamin felt this matter greatly affected his image in her eyes and needed to be clarified.

Sarah took another sip of water, her indifferent eyes showing she didn't really care about what he was saying.

"I've already figured it out. Whether it was you or not doesn't really matter. The fact that it happened means I have to deal with it."

And it wasn't something made up out of thin air.

Since the people from the Harrington Group had already taken advantage of this matter, it didn't really matter who did it.

The emotions in her eyes were inscrutable, but inexplicably exuded a kind of confidence that could look straight into the depths of his eyes.

Benjamin wanted to look away but was reluctant to move his gaze.

Sarah took a deep breath and said directly, "Mr. Harrington, the real reason you came to the capital city is to take over the Valencia Group, isn't it?"
