Chapter 234 This Is On the Plane!
Antonio's deep, sexy voice rasped in her ear, and his breath tickled her sensitive neck.
An indescribable blush began to spread from Sarah's fair neck up to her cheeks.
"Antonio, go away. Can't you stop being a nuisance?"
Her heart raced erratically, disturbed by Antonio's sudden move, leaving her slightly disoriented.
"You must come with me."
His voice was low, teasing her so that Sarah couldn't resist.
"Fine, I'll go... Can't I?"
Helplessly, she pushed him away, a hint of red still visible on her face.
Antonio watched that faint hint of shyness on her face, and the tiredness of the past few days seemed to diminish.
On this day, Sarah didn't refuse Antonio. They went home together after work.
The three kids were already at home after finishing school.
Looking at Harper, Ethan, and Ryan sitting quietly on the couch, Sarah suddenly felt a pang of bitterness. The children must have been sad during the days of her cold war with Antonio.
She sat next to them, gently stroking their heads. "Mommy and Daddy might have to go on a business trip these few days. You all have to behave at home, okay?"
The kids had different expressions. These few days of the cold war between their parents, and now they're going on a business trip together? If something happened and they had another conflict while not being around, what should they do?!
…
When Sarah was packing her luggage at night, there was a gentle knock on the door.
"Mommy?"
She turned around and saw Harper standing anxiously at her bedroom door.
"What's wrong?"
She tenderly embraced Harper and sat on the bed, her eyes filled with softness.
Harper tightly pursed her lips and hesitantly asked after a while, "Mommy, are you and Daddy going to separate?"
Hearing Harper's question, Sarah's arms holding her suddenly stiffened.
Harper was still young; she couldn't even grasp the concept of divorce. She longed to provide Harper with a warm, stable home, but her optimism dimmed as she contemplated the strained relationship between herself and Antonio.
Briefly, she lapsed into silence, unable to offer Harper any reassurance.
…
Sarah and Antonio got into the car together and headed to the airport the next day. They remained silent throughout the journey. The air within the car seemed to stand still, quiet and stifling.
Both boarded the plane with their small suitcases. While putting away their luggage, Antonio tried to help Sarah place hers in the overhead compartment, accidentally touching her slightly cold skin.
Sarah immediately furrowed her brows and rubbed her clothes, seemingly wanting to erase the touch of his hand.
This gesture from Sarah made Antonio struck him like a stab to the heart. His deep eyes narrowed slightly, and the hand holding the suitcase grew stiff.
Sarah didn't know what was happening; she just felt that she couldn't be as close to Antonio as before.
Sensing his displeasure, she restrained herself, and Antonio looked away, his face darkened, as he placed the suitcase in the overhead compartment. Once settled, they sat side by side, sinking into silence.
As the plane flew smoothly at high altitude, Sarah couldn't help but feel restless and decided to stand up. "I'll go to the restroom for a moment."
Little did she know that as soon as she unfastened her seatbelt and stood up, the entire plane began to shake violently, causing her to stumble directly towards Antonio.
An announcement echoed through the cabin, "Ladies and gentlemen, due to significant air turbulence, please remain seated and fasten your seatbelts. The use of restrooms is temporarily suspended. Thank you for your cooperation."
Sarah regained her senses only to find her head buried in Antonio's abdomen, her face flushing instantly. An inexplicable irritation pulsed in her heart. Eagerly, she attempted to regain her balance and return to her seat, but another abrupt jolt sent her reeling.
"Don't move. Hold onto my hand." Antonio's arms encircled her, pulling her close, his warmth seeping through.
She clung to him, the aircraft continuing to jolt.
The warmth from Antonio stirred her repressed emotions. Instinctively, she wanted to pull away, but with the plane still shaking, she reluctantly leaned into his chest.
A faintly familiar scent enveloped her, one that had always brought her comfort in the past. Yet, in this moment, it stirred a mix of complex emotions.
The aircraft gradually regained stability as it emerged from the turbulence.
Despite the lingering tremors, Sarah pulled away from Antonio, clutching the armrest before retreating to her seat.
Even amidst the shaking, she refrained from any intimate contact, a fact not lost on Antonio. His gaze darkened, reflecting a profound sense of disconnection. Determined, he embraced Sarah, causing her to release the safety belt she was securing.
"What are you doing? Let go, we're on a plane!" Sarah protested as Antonio held her close, unable to bear her distant demeanor.
He couldn't bear to witness her suffering, her pain resonating deeply within him. Clumsily, he clung to her, fearing her disappearance before his eyes.
Angered by Antonio's forceful actions, Sarah sunk her teeth into his shoulder while still wrapped in his embrace.
