Chapter 753 He Wants Me Dead

Sofia forced a smile and said, "Not yet, I'm out grabbing some snacks."

Alex, flipping through some files, paused and furrowed his brows, but his voice stayed calm. "Alright, drive safe. I might need a bit more time to wrap this up."

"Got it."

Sofia pretended to be in a rush and exclaimed, "Oh no! I can't talk right now! Someone's telling me to move my car. Don't stay up too late, bye!"

Alex heard the busy tone and his frown deepened.

The moment Sofia spoke, he could hear the nasal tone and noticed her voice was a bit hoarse, like she'd been crying.

But she clearly didn't want to tell him what was going on.

And this wasn't the first time.

What was Sofia hiding from him? Alex couldn't figure it out.

The next morning, Antonio got a call from his contact at the hospital.

The voice on the other end said, "Mr. Harrington, Ms. Moore has woken up and wants to see you."

Antonio got up leisurely and asked, "Does Harold know?"

"Not yet. Ms. Moore specifically asked to see you first."

Upon hearing that, a gleam flashed in Antonio's eyes.

Half an hour later, he drove to the hospital.

Most of the monitoring equipment on Isabella had been removed, and the oxygen mask was off. She still looked pale, but a bit more spirited.

When she saw Antonio enter the room, she managed a slight smile. "You're here."

After this suicide attempt, she seemed to have figured out a lot of things.

Antonio's gaze lingered on her for a moment before he pulled up a chair, sat down and asked calmly, "What do you want to tell me?"

Isabella's lips curled into a bitter smile. "I want to apologize to you. I was the one who gave the photos to the media. Did it cause you a lot of trouble?"

Antonio's face remained expressionless. "No."

Sure, Sarah had seen the photos and argued with him back then, but they had already cleared things up. Rather than causing him trouble, it had actually created problems for Harold, which might cause Harold a mess.

Isabella seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. "But I still need to apologize."

When she saw the photos that day, she was so angry and jealous that the resentment in her heart turned into a demon, wanting to destroy everything, including herself.

But looking back now, Benjamin had never said he liked her.

Isabella realized it was all her wishful thinking.

Antonio looked at her face and slowly furrowed his brows.

He had never really looked closely at Isabella's appearance before.

But at this moment, another familiar face suddenly flashed in his mind.

Isabella reminded Antonio of his mother, Carter, especially since he had just seen photos of Carter in her youth at Harold's secret base a few days ago.

No wonder Harold, who could even kill his own son, valued her so much despite having no blood relation!

If it weren't for her face, Isabella would probably have been dead the moment she lost her usefulness.

As he thought of that, the mockery in Antonio's eyes grew heavier.

How ridiculous and disgusting!

Did Harold really love Carter that much? But where did he hide her ashes? Antonio had yet to figure out. Isabella saw his extremely unpleasant expression and mistakenly thought he was worried she might do something again.

She felt a bit bitter inside. But she quickly shook her head and said, "Don't worry, I won't do anything stupid again, hurting myself or you. After this, I've realized that feelings can't be forced."

Antonio snapped back to reality and said slowly, "I know."

He rubbed his fingers together, his eyes deep as a pool. "So why don't we have an open and honest conversation?"

Isabella looked into his eyes. "Alright, what do you want to talk about?"

He said calmly, "Since you've figured things out, there are some things you deserve to know."

Antonio had always understood that Isabella was merely deceived by Harold. She might have lied to him, but she didn't know everything.

In that case, Antonio decided to let her see Harold's true colors.

"I am Antonio."

Hearing that, Isabella felt like her heart was stuck heavily out of the blue.

Her eyes widened in disbelief. "What did you say?"

Antonio!

Wasn't that Sarah's deceased husband, the one who looked exactly like Benjamin?

Isabella knew "Benjamin" had amnesia and that Harold had intervened in his memory with hypnosis.

She also knew that ever since she and Benjamin came to the Capital City, they had heard countless discussions about how the two looked exactly alike.

But she never expected they were actually the same person!

How could that be?

Antonio ignored her shock and continued, "You must have heard about Antonio's accident a few months ago. These things are easy to verify if you want to. Have you ever wondered why it was such a coincidence? Antonio's accident and Benjamin's so-called car crash happened at the same time."

He added, "To put it more clearly, I am indeed Benjamin, but before becoming Benjamin, I was always Antonio. That explosion was Harold's deliberate design to make me return to the Harrington Family. Because of it, I lost my memory and was forced to separate from Sarah and the kids."

As Isabella heard this, the expression on her face was beyond mere shock.

"Harold did all this? He orchestrated an explosion? Wasn't he afraid that if something went wrong, you might actually die?" Isbella asked.

Even though he had lived with the Valencia Family all those years, shouldn't finding his family be a joyous occasion?

Why did Harold have to use an explosion and erase his memory?

Antonio sneered, "That's a question for Harold. I also want to know how ruthless his heart can be."

Isabella stared at Antonio, trying to find any sign of deceit on his face, but there was none.

Besides, she knew he had no reason to lie to her about something like this.

She thought back to when she first returned to the country, how Sarah had repeatedly approached and tested him, as well as Antonio's inexplicable closeness to Sarah.

So, this was the truth?

Antonio saw her dazed expression and calmly took out a file from the side, opening it unhurriedly. "If you don't want to believe me, I have a report here that should be enough to show you Harold's true nature."

He handed it over, and Isabella took it in a daze.

"What... what is this?"

She understood the content but didn't know what Antonio meant.

Antonio explained, "This is what Harold implanted in me to control me, to make me follow his plan completely."

With that, Antonio's lips curled into a mocking smile. "If I discovered this chip and tried to remove it, I would die. If I lost control, he would not hesitate to kill me."
