Chapter 79 Tightly Pressed Together Underwater
Sarah swatted Antonio's hand away like it was a pesky fly.
Antonio was caught off guard by her fierce reaction. His grip loosened, and Sarah slumped back into his arms.
"Sarah," Antonio's voice had a rare edge of panic as he reached out again. “What are you going nuts for?”
His eyes went cold as he took a deep breath and dove back into the water, quickly grabbing Sarah and pulling her close again.
Sarah tried to push him away, but his arm around her waist tightened like a vice.
At this point, Sarah's face was all scrunched up from lack of oxygen, bubbles streaming from her mouth.
Antonio's brows knitted together as he held her tight.
Then he lowered his head, pressed his lips to hers, and gave her some serious mouth-to-mouth.
Sarah was stunned for a split second, then felt a wave of anger.
Antonio, always taking advantage of her!
Even now, in this situation, how shameless!
But Sarah had been without oxygen for too long, her body was weak, and she gradually lost the strength to fight back.
Sharon was pulled out of the pool.
Her makeup was a mess, black smudges around her eyes, and her wet hair stuck to her face. She started coughing violently as soon as she opened her mouth.
But Lisa didn't have time to worry about the nearly drowned Sharon.
She saw Sarah and Antonio underwater, clinging to each other, her eyes practically shooting daggers, her whole body shaking with rage. 'Damn it! Why is Sarah always so lucky!'
She swore she would make Sarah pay!
By the time Antonio finally dragged Sarah ashore, Sharon had mostly recovered.
Seeing Lisa coming to help her, she immediately gave Lisa a look, and Lisa got the message, not stepping forward.
John's face was like a thundercloud. What were they doing, jumping into the pool for no reason? "What the hell is going on here?!"
Sarah was still gasping for air by the poolside, while a sly glint flashed in Sharon's eyes. She seized the moment to complain first, "She pushed me in!"
She pointed at Sarah and looked up at John, playing the victim. "John, I saw Sarah get mad, tried to intervene, but she shoved me into the water instead."
Sharon coughed a couple more times, looking all weak and pitiful.
Her act made Sarah want to puke.
Sarah stood up abruptly, took a few strides to Sharon, and without a word, kicked her in the shoulder!
With a splash, Sharon didn't even have time to scream before falling back into the water, sending up a huge spray.
Sarah thought, 'Since you said I pushed you, I might as well do it for real!'
The water splashed onto John's face, and Sarah's kick was a direct hit to his pride!
John's face turned as dark as thunder, and he couldn't keep up the act of a kind father anymore.
He roared at Sarah, "Are you out of your mind?!"
John was furious and raised his hand to hit Sarah, but Antonio quickly stepped in between them.
He was soaking wet, looking a bit more disheveled than usual, but his cold aura was still strong.
Even though John was an elder, he couldn't help but feel intimidated by Antonio's warning glare.
Seeing this, Lisa immediately put on a pitiful face and spoke up for Sharon, "Sarah, I know you're mad at Lusa, but you can't treat us like this! Dad and Mom are getting old; they can't handle this kind of stress. Just take it out on me. You can hit me or scold me, and I won't fight back!"
With John around, Sarah knew Lisa was safe from any real harm. But that didn't mean she had to put up with her crap. Sarah's eyes narrowed as she looked at Lisa and John. "I never wanted to come to this house. Every time I do, it makes me sick. I'm warning you, don't mess with me again!"
She turned to leave, but Antonio grabbed her wrist. "Hold up."
Meanwhile, the maids were dragging Sharon out of the pool for the second time. She was coughing and pointing at Sarah, "I just wanted to be nice to you, why did you do this?"
She took a few deep breaths, clutching her chest dramatically. "Lusa has already died. Do you want to kill me too?"
She looked at John, accusingly. "She's doing this for money. To steal my necklace, so she wants to kill me!"
She pulled down her collar, showing off some fresh red scratches on her neck.
John's eyes flashed with anger as he looked at Sarah. "Sarah, apologize to your mother immediately and give her back the necklace!"
Sarah sneered, her eyes cold as ice, her hand gripping the necklace tighter. "Mother? Her? This necklace belongs to my real mom, Carol. Why should I give it to Sharon?"
These people never ceased to amaze her with their shamelessness.
Carol's belongings would never fall into someone else's hands!
Lisa jumped in, "Sarah, just apologize to Mom and return the necklace. Then this will all be over, and we can still be a family."
"Right," Sharon added, trying to sound all forgiving. "Even if you don't accept me, I've always treated you like my daughter! Just admit your mistake, and I won't hold it against you. Besides, that necklace, I bought it recently, not Carol's. You're mistaken."
Sarah's eyes grew colder, a familiar sense of suffocation washing over her.
She felt like she was back in her most helpless childhood, when these three women would oppress her and Brady at will.
When John came out to "uphold justice," they would shift all the blame onto her and Brady.
When John got angry, they would play the good guys on the side.
She couldn't even remember how many times this had happened.
But she wasn't a helpless kid anymore. She wouldn't let them trample over her again!
Sarah's icy gaze pierced into Sharon's eyes, and she gritted her teeth, "Lies."
Sharon was startled but quickly retorted, "Oh, you really are mistaken. I bought it recently!"
Lisa chimed in, "Yes, I helped pick it out!"
John's face grew even darker, his chest heaving with anger.
Sarah had never defied him like this before, but today she had repeatedly embarrassed him in public!
His dignity was being severely challenged. He was still the head of this family and would not allow anyone to challenge his authority!
John was about to say something when Antonio, who had been silent, suddenly spoke coldly, "High-end luxury items like this are custom-made and have the buyer's initials engraved on them."
In other words, the owner of the necklace could be easily identified with a simple inspection.
