Chapter 775 What's the Child's Name?
In the dead of night, at one of the tunnel exits, Harold's right-hand man, Patrick Elliott, waited in the shadows with his crew.
Last night, Patrick got word that Harold was supposed to show up here today. He was skeptical but didn't want to risk it, so he showed up three hours early. To his surprise, Harold actually appeared.
"Mr. Harrington!" Patrick rushed over. "I've got a suite ready for you." His voice choked with emotion, and his face showed genuine concern, making it hard to tell if he was sincere or not.
Harold looked at Patrick and pushed him away, his expression cold. "Patrick, I've kept you in the branch office all these years. Do you resent me for it?"
Patrick's smile froze on his face, but he quickly adjusted his expression, showing what seemed like genuine loyalty. "Mr. Harrington! Ever since you promoted me, I swore to serve you for life and never betray you."
Patrick made his stance clear.
Harold, still doubtful, gave a faint order. "Don't make a scene. Find a nearby place without cameras to stay. This is..."
A low-profile black car rolled up, and just as Harold was about to get in, police sirens blared in the distance.
"Who leaked the info?" Patrick's face twisted with anger, his eyes fierce. As the sirens got closer, Patrick didn't waste any time. "Mr. Harrington, I'll cover your escape. Please hide again."
Harold's cold eyes were filled with murderous intent, and he laughed bitterly. "Benjamin, you really are something."
Harold had never been in such a tight spot before. He thought he was cautious and cunning enough, but he was found so quickly, showing Benjamin really wanted him dead. However, Benjamin was indeed capable!
Although angry, Harold turned around without hesitation and went back into the tunnel.
Almost as soon as Harold disappeared, the police car screeched to a halt at the tunnel entrance. "Stop! Hands on your head! Don't move! Get down!"
Patrick smiled, "Sir, we're just having a meal here. We haven't broken any laws, right? Aren't you afraid we'll file a complaint if you treat us like criminals?"
"Shut up! Take them away!"
Meanwhile, at the Harrington Group, in the chairman's office.
Antonio was sitting in Harold's chair, his sharp and cold eyes icy.
After a moment, James pushed the door open and entered.
In an emergency, Antonio had quickly told James the whole truth and brought him to Marshall City.
James was filled with disbelief and a mix of emotions, almost in tears upon seeing Antonio for the first time!
Who would have thought that Benjamin was actually Antonio!
But there was no time for James to engage in small talk; he immediately took control of the situation.
With so many people, Antonio still found James the most reliable and trustworthy.
"Sir, Harold has gone back into the tunnel, but it's hard to search underground. It's a maze with many traps, so the search may have to proceed at a slower pace." James reported.
The atmosphere in the room was tense.
Antonio sneered, his hand clenching tightly, veins bulging, "Fine, I'm curious to see just how long he can drag this out! I'll ensure he understands that all his efforts are futile."
"Yes, sir. We'll do our best." James nodded, shot Antonio a concerned look, but ultimately kept quiet and left the room.
The door clicked shut, and Antonio glanced around the office, his eyes dark and brooding. He caught his reflection in the window and froze for a moment.
In his daze, Antonio thought he saw Harold staring back at him. He blinked, and the reflection was just his own.
Staring at his face in the glass, Antonio tightened his lips, and a scary red glint flickered in his eyes. No matter how much he hated to admit it, he was still Harold's son. They did look a bit alike.
Antonio sighed, feeling the weight of it all. He just wanted this to be over.
The phone on the desk buzzed, snapping him out of his thoughts. It was Sarah calling.
He picked up, and Sarah's cheerful voice came through. "How's it going today? Any updates with The Harrington Group?"
Her laughter quickly lightened Antonio's mood. "Yeah, everything's smooth at The Harrington Group. Harold ran off. There are a bunch of big projects waiting for signatures, so I'm swamped."
Antonio walked to the window, opened it, and let the breeze cool him down.
He couldn't tell Sarah the truth; she was pregnant and didn't need the stress.
Sarah didn't seem to suspect anything.
But then another male voice came through the phone. "The prenatal checkup results are all normal. You need to be extra careful now and pay attention to every fetal movement. This is a critical period."
Hearing Timothy's voice, Antonio was taken aback. "Sarah, you had a prenatal checkup? Are you feeling okay?"
Sarah reassured him. "No worries, it's just time for my checkup again. Since we're not in Capital City, I asked Dr. Reed to help me schedule it at their hospital. Everything's fine."
As Antonio heard this, his grip on the phone tightened, his fingertips turning white, and a flash of guilt crossed his face. "Sarah, I'm sorry. I forgot about your checkup date."
Only a lousy husband would miss such an important event and not be there for his wife!
Sarah chuckled softly, her gentle voice soothing him. "It's a special time now. I understand you're busy."
She changed the subject. "By the way, did you see the picture I sent you?"
Antonio then opened the picture with his long, straight fingers.
Seeing the image of the baby embryo, Antonio felt his tense heart finally soften. His lips curled up into a smile, his sharp features looking like a satisfied lion, his narrow eyes gentle.
This was his child.
Even though he and Sarah already had three smart and adorable kids, this felt different.
Back then, because of misunderstandings, Sarah had gone abroad to give birth, and missing out on their three kids' early years was his biggest regret.
Now, this baby filled that void in his heart.
Sarah's voice grew softer in his ear. "Have you thought of a name for the baby?"
