Chapter 208 I won't force you anymore
Sarah was lost in thought, almost revealing Brian's name.
Fortunately, Antonio's phone rang loudly at that moment, drowning out Sarah's unfinished sentence.
Antonio answered the call and agreed to something on the other end after a moment of silence. He composed himself, hung up, and turned to Sarah as if he wanted to continue their conversation.
She concealed her longing and shook her head. "It's nothing. I just feel a bit sentimental. We have a group photo now..."
The whole family had a great time at the aquarium, seeing all the marine creatures and feeding penguins together.
Ethan occasionally showed a happy look and would sneak glances at Antonio. It seemed that Antonio's unwavering trust in him had deeply moved Ethan.
…
It wasn't until they were tired of playing that Harper finally agreed to go home. Ethan sat in the back seat without saying a word. Seeing him with his head down, lost in thought, Harper couldn't help but cover her mouth and quietly chuckle.
Feeling Harper's gaze, Ethan glanced up and found himself locking eyes with Antonio behind her. Antonio's gaze held a gentle and indulgent smile, a look Ethan couldn't help but interpret as doting.
Unconsciously, Ethan flinched, feeling the chill in his own eyes dissipate. He had never expected Antonio's approval. With his mother choosing to reconcile with Antonio for the time being, Ethan resolved to keep a watchful eye...
With a touch of arrogance, Ethan deliberately looked away.
Realizing that the timing was right, Antonio reached out and held Sarah's hand. "You've been thinking of changing jobs recently, right? Why not come to my company?"
Sarah's smile instantly faded from her face, and Antonio's grip on her hand tightened momentarily. However, his expression remained inquisitive and somewhat nervous, waiting for her response.
Sarah furrowed her brows. She had already told Antonio many times that she didn't want to work in his company. Why did he bring it up again?
"I'm just suggesting it. If you really don't want to, I won't force you," Antonio explained cautiously, sensing her displeasure.
Sarah lowered her gaze and pondered for a moment. She had indeed resigned and couldn't go to the company where Asa worked, nor could she stay idle at home forever. Even though she didn't want to, she had nowhere else to go for now...
After wrestling with her thoughts, she looked at Antonio, who had a hopeful yet forcefully suppressed expression, and nodded. "Okay, I'll go."
"Really? Sarah..." Antonio couldn't contain his excitement and pulled her hand, involuntarily kissing it lightly.
This gesture made them both feel a bit awkward. Sarah saw the joy in his eyes, like a child who had finally gotten the candy he longed for.
Sarah stood there, staring at Antonio, her cheeks slightly flushed.
Antonio had previously offered her a position at his company, but she had hesitated due to various concerns and declined his offer. Antonio respected her decision without pressuring her. Little did she realize that her willingness to compromise would bring him such joy.
"Really."
It took her a while to come back to her senses, and she affirmed softly, with a hint of blush in her ears.
Antonio's eyes grew even more passionate, and he held her hand, allowing her to lean against his embrace.
"Don't worry, I will never force you again. After the last time, I have thought a lot and will respect your wishes more."
His voice was filled with masculine magnetism, sliding over Sarah's neck like a feather, making her heart uncontrollably pound.
Antonio seemed to be truly changing.
Although she didn't know why he cared so much about Asa, the thought of him changing for her softened her heart.
Soon, the car drove back to the villa.
After entering the house, everyone went to wash up. Antonio came out first and instructed the service staff to prepare some food for the two children.
Just as he was about to find Sarah, his phone suddenly rang.
The caller was Serene.
Antonio stared silently at the contact displayed on his phone for a moment before ultimately furrowing his brow and answering.
"Hello, Mr. Valencia. I thought you had deleted my number."
On the other end of the phone, Serene sounded a bit sad.
Antonio's deep eyes slightly dimmed, "What's the matter?"
Serene sighed, feeling a little melancholic. "Mr. Valencia has become so distant all of a sudden. Is it because of what happened last time we worked together?"
Upon hearing her mention it, Antonio also pondered the matter. The primary cause of his previous unhappiness stemmed from Asa's involvement. Recognizing that it wasn't Serene's fault, he tempered his coldness accordingly.
"No, Ms. Jerrett misunderstood. I just don't know why you're calling so late."
"Well, I acquired a racecourse recently and wanted to ask if you would be interested."
Antonio directly declined, "Sorry, I'm not very interested. Thank you for the invitation, Ms. Jerrett."
"Ah, Mr. Valencia, please wait. I know our previous collaboration fell through, but I still hope we can be friends and not sever our previous connection over one collaboration..."
Serene hurriedly stopped Antonio, speaking with sincere regret in her words.
Antonio couldn't directly refuse when she mentioned their past. After all, Serene had once saved his life.
"Okay, I understand. If there's anything I can help with regarding the racecourse, I won't refuse."
Antonio set his phone down, rubbing his temples in exhaustion. He struggled to articulate his emotions, but a profound weariness weighed heavily upon him.
Suddenly, a light knock interrupted his thoughts. It was Sarah at the door.
Turning, he caught sight of her familiar, elegant features and felt the tension in his furrowed brows begin to ease.
Sarah noticed that he had just hung up the phone and didn't look very well. She approached him with some confusion.
"What happened? Why do you seem so tired?"
