Chapter 862 Stay Away from Sarah
Isabella had no idea that Antonio had already undergone surgery to remove the chip. Hearing this, she was utterly shocked and immediately began to worry.
'That system, does he actually have a backup? Wouldn't that make Antonio very dangerous?' She thought.
She clenched her fingers but felt that agreeing immediately would arouse Harold's suspicion, so she pretended to be very hesitant. "This could indeed control him, but..."
"But what?" Harold knew she wouldn't agree right away.
But Isabella's current attitude clearly showed she was wavering.
"Isabella, do you want to see both of us being suppressed by Antonio, unable to rise? I'm a cripple now, but what about you? You're still so young. I can't protect you anymore, and I absolutely can't let him hurt you! So, for the sake of both of us, get that system, and let me protect you one last time, okay?" His feigned plea actually seemed somewhat genuine.
If she hadn't already seen through him, Isabella might have been moved.
She put on a hesitant look, and after a while, as if making a decision, she said, "Alright then, thank you, Mr. Harrington, for always thinking of me."
"You're my daughter. If I don't think of you, who will?" Harold, looking like a loving father, finally showed a gratified smile.
In reality, he was laughing inside, thinking Isabella was such a fool.
But thanks to her, he might see the light of day again and kill that ungrateful son, Antonio!
Isabella pretended to be moved but was actually panicking inside. She had to continue talking to Harold and only left after showing a lot of concern.
She hurried out of the visiting room and stopped in front of a prison guard.
"Hello." Isabella called the guard, confirmed his badge number, and then said seriously, "Could you please keep a close watch on Harold? Don't let unrelated people contact him."
The guard confirmed her identity and asked a few questions before agreeing. "Don't worry, we'll keep a close eye on him and won't let him have any opportunity to pass messages."
"Okay, thank you." Isabella felt a bit relieved.
Just as she was about to leave, she bumped into a group of people coming in. The man leading them, Efren Britton, had a conspicuous mole below his mouth.
She stepped aside to let them pass and heard a respectful voice say, "Ah, Mr. Britton, it's so kind of you to come and check on the rehabilitation of these prisoners despite your busy schedule. You truly care about the people!"
Efren chuckled softly and said, "It's good that they can correct their mistakes. They need some comfort too."
Isabella couldn't help but glance at him, catching his insincere smile.
She raised an eyebrow silently. It seemed like another hypocrite.
But this had nothing to do with Isabella, so she didn't think much of it and quickly left.
Her visit to Harold in prison had already been reported to Antonio as soon as she arrived. He had people monitoring Harold's every move.
Today's behavior didn't surprise Antonio, but he was curious about Isabella's reaction.
"Mr. Valencia, we don't know exactly what they talked about, but Ms. Moore didn't look too good when she came out."
"Okay," Antonio responded thoughtfully. "Keep an eye on them."
He put down his phone and glanced at Sarah, who was still eating in the dining room. Should he tell her about this?
Isabella's private meeting with Harold was probably not that simple.
Sarah had completely let her guard down around Isabella, even letting her work at the Valencia Group, seeing her as someone who had been deceived and had no one to rely on. So, Antonio hadn't said anything.
But if Isabella was swayed by Harold and tried to disrupt their happy life, he wouldn't allow it.
As he returned to the dining room, Sarah gave him a curious look. "Why do you look so distracted after taking a call?"
"It's nothing serious," Antonio reassured her, patting her head. "I'll tell you later."
After dinner, Sarah took the kids upstairs for a bath, while Antonio stayed downstairs with his phone, wondering if he should call Isabella first.
Just then, a servant approached. "Mr. Valencia, someone is here to see you at the front gate."
Antonio raised an eyebrow and went to meet the guest, only to find that the visitor was Isabella, the very person he was worried about.
Could she really be planning to help Harold do something bad?
He scrutinized Isabella and asked in a low voice, "Why are you here so late?"
Isabella ignored his cold attitude and glanced at the villa behind him. "I have something to tell you, but I won't go inside. If Sarah gets upset, it won't be good. Can we find a place to sit and talk?"
Antonio stared into her eyes for a moment, seeing no malice. He was also curious about what she wanted, so he nodded. "Okay."
There was a café right by the entrance. Once seated, Isabella took out a voice recorder from her bag and handed it to him. "I went to see Harold today."
Antonio leaned back lazily on the sofa, tapping his fingers on the table.
He glanced at the voice recorder, waiting for Isabella to continue.
Isabella took a deep breath and began, "I got a call from the prison this afternoon. Harold wanted to see me. I wanted to know what he was up to, so I went."
"I thought he just wanted me to get him out, but he mentioned the chip inside you. He still has a backup plan! I recorded our conversation. You should listen to it."
Antonio frowned and turned on the voice recorder with his distinct fingers.
As she said, it contained their entire conversation.
Harold was indeed cunning. Did that system really have a backup?
Fortunately, he had planned ahead and had Timothy remove the chip from his body. Otherwise, he would be in a passive position now.
Antonio looked up, his fleeting coldness hidden, and said sincerely, "Thank you for this. If you had sided with him, we would have had a lot more trouble."
Seeing that he didn't seem worried, Isabella couldn't help but ask, "That system..."
"It's okay. I've already dealt with it."
"Good," she sighed in relief. "I thought it might be dangerous for you, so I came to tell you right away."
"Yes, although it's been dealt with, the information you brought is still very useful to us."
At least they knew that Harold, even in prison, hadn't given up. Once he realized Isabella was of no use, he would definitely try something else.
Antonio looked at Isabella, her face sincere and kind, genuinely worried for a friend.
Maybe he had misunderstood her. Isabella had indeed changed.
"Yes, I'm glad you trust me," She said with a faint smile. "If he contacts me again, I'll let you know immediately."
Antonio's eyes flickered slightly. He didn't say he didn't trust her, but he didn't fully trust her either. He said frankly, "Thank you for thinking of our family, but Sarah is close to giving birth. I don't want you to disturb her. I hope you understand."
His words meant that Isabella should stay away from Sarah.
