Chapter 327 He Wants to Check the Surveillance!
“Woof! Woof! Woof!"
Century Garden, the family dog, emerged from the study, tail wagging enthusiastically, with a gnawed electrical wire clamped between its teeth. The once immaculate study was now a scene of chaos. Shredded pages littered the floor, and the covert surveillance wires tucked away in the corner had been gnawed and severed by Century Garden. The wire it proudly held in its mouth was the disconnected end of the surveillance system!
"Century Garden!" Antonio's voice rang out sharply, his name echoing in the room. His fists clenched in frustration, but he couldn't bring himself to strike the dog. This was Harper's cherished companion, the one she adored above all else. How could Antonio possibly harm it?
Antonio crouched down, prying the wire from Century Garden's mouth. "Do you comprehend what this is? Aren't you afraid of electrocuting yourself? This is an electrical wire, not a chew toy or a treat!"
Sarah, observing Antonio's helpless and exasperated expression, fought back a chuckle. She gestured towards the nearby blue Ethernet cable. "And there's also the network cable."
"What?" Antonio's head snapped up. The severed electrical wire was not a critical issue since there was a backup power source, but the network cable absolutely could not be damaged as it held the surveillance footage.
Antonio swiftly ordered the servants to tidy up the study before Sarah could enter. Once the network cable was reconnected, Antonio, with Sarah in tow, powered up the computer to review the surveillance footage.
Regrettably, due to Century Garden's destructive antics, only a brief segment of the surveillance remained—footage of Century Garden frolicking wildly before biting off the wire. Nothing of importance was captured.
Antonio was rendered speechless by his frustration.
"Century Garden, from tomorrow onwards, you are forbidden from entering this room!"
He had hoped to uncover something significant, but Century Garden had thwarted his plans!
Sarah couldn't suppress her laughter any longer, settling beside Antonio. "I truly believe you're overthinking this."
From the gift alone, it was evident that Alex's company operated in a completely different sector than Valencia Inc. Why would they pilfer your company's secrets?
" Alex must also harbor some hidden agenda. Who would discuss company matters with a child? We wouldn't even consider such a thing."
Antonio was adamant in his belief that Alex was not as straightforward as he appeared.
There was also the elusive CEO who had never made a personal appearance. So far, no information about him had surfaced, yet he persistently sent them gifts. No one would believe that he didn't have a hidden agenda.
Antonio was determined to expose the true identities of these two individuals and validate his suspicions.
"Achoo!"
Brian, who was also harboring ulterior motives, sneezed in the room.
For some inexplicable reason, he felt a sudden chill.
"Big Brother, aren't you going to join us?"
"Shall we go out and play with the robot? It's currently patrolling inside the house," Harper whispered as he approached. "Ethan said he'll swap with you, so he'll play tomorrow."
"Nah, you guys go ahead. I have something to do," Brian replied, ruffling Harper's hair.
This robot was a product of their own company, and no one understood its capabilities better than him. It was better to let his younger siblings play with it.
Besides, the robot utilized iris recognition, and it wouldn't be ideal if it occasionally scanned and announced his name.
"Alright then, I'll go outside first," Harper chuckled and went to locate the robot.
The three children trailed behind the robot, fascinated by all its built-in functions.
Ethan and Ryan, in particular, were captivated by the robot's every move.
Inside the study, Antonio's frustration intensified upon hearing the children's laughter.
Alex continued to shower them with gifts and toys, endearing himself to the children.
If he had any hidden motives and exploited the children while Antonio was distracted, it would spell disaster.
This man was no less dangerous than Asa.
Observing his demeanor, Sarah found it increasingly amusing. "Antonio, the children are having a wonderful time. Why don't you join them?"
"The robot wasn't a gift from me," Antonio thought, his frustration mounting. Why hadn't he considered getting something like this for the children himself?
It seemed that if he truly wanted the children to accept him and open up to him, he needed to start by connecting with them on a personal level.
"It may not be your gift, but you can still join in," Sarah suggested, flicking Antonio's forehead. Normally, he was quite astute, but why was he so obstinate when it came to the children?
So what if the robot was a gift from someone else? Wasn't Antonio the one who could genuinely be there for the children?
What the children desired was more than just these cold, lifeless toys.
Antonio conceded that Sarah had a point.
"Let's go outside then." Antonio took Sarah's hand and they headed to the garden to join the children.
In the garden, the children were observing the robot as it patrolled.
Surprisingly, the robot maintained a guard stance and didn't overlook any blind spots in its surveillance.
"Harper, Ethan, Ryan, is this robot fun?" Antonio approached with a smile.
Suddenly, the robot halted and swiftly approached Antonio, raising its mechanical arm.
"What's it going to do?" Antonio looked at the robot in astonishment.
Splat!
A moment of stunned silence ensued.
Then, laughter erupted.
The robot had sprayed water all over Antonio's face!
