Chapter 826 Is She Courting Death?
She originally thought that the jewelry in the safe was of no use; she couldn't wear them usually, and most of them were auction pieces, so even if she resold them, she wouldn't lose much.
Antonio raised an eyebrow. "Sarah, what are you talking about? We're married. Your business is my business." He smiled a bit sheepishly and reached out to grab her hand. "Sarah, can you stop being mad about what happened before?"
Sarah's heart softened a bit, but she still snorted coldly.
He had lied to her so much before, and now he thought a few sweet words could make everything go away.
She didn't say anything, but her phone rang, and she received two photos from Alex.
The first photo showed a man and a woman's hands clasped together, each wearing a ring on their ring finger.
Sarah finally felt relieved.
Since Alex had decided to crash the wedding, he must have made thorough preparations. So far, no one from the Newman Family had tracked them down, but Sarah was still a bit worried.
But now that they were even wearing wedding rings, it meant they were safe and very happy.
The second photo was a handwritten thank-you note from Sofia. She hadn't wanted to trouble Sarah before, so she hadn't mentioned the messy family issues.
But Sarah's actions today gave her the courage and confidence to want to go crazy for herself, without any reservations.
Antonio came over just in time to see the smile on Sarah's face and asked ingratiatingly, "Sarah, did Sofia and Alex contact you?"
Sarah nodded and then turned to look at him. "Why are you so close to me? Antonio, your memory isn't that bad, is it? Do I need to remind you? Just a short while ago, on the morning of your surgery, we were still arguing. Do you think that just because Francis came back and Sofia got married, I would be so overwhelmed that I'd forget all the stupid things you did before?"
Antonio felt miserable, his eyes showing some hurt. "Sarah, can we just move past that? I promise I'll listen to you from now on and never hide anything from you again."
Sarah didn't say anything but expressed her stance through her actions.
Seeing her start to pack her clothes, Antonio panicked. "Sarah, what are you planning to do?"
"Nothing." Sarah glanced at him. "I think if I continue to stay here, you might not understand some things, so it's better to get a new room."
They had just arrived yesterday, so their luggage was barely unpacked and was quickly packed up again.
"You're still pregnant, and you're going to stay alone? How can I be at ease?" Antonio pressed down on the suitcase, his tone almost pleading.
"Sarah, stay with me, okay? I promise I won't do anything! If you really don't want to talk to me, then I... I won't say a word, okay?" He even sounded a bit aggrieved towards the end.
The past couple of days had been so harmonious that Antonio reflexively thought the previous issues were resolved. Who would have thought Sarah would get mad at him again?
Sofia and Alex's issues were resolved, but their marital issues were starting all over again!
Sarah's current demeanor clearly showed she was still angry and would definitely find other ways to punish him.
"What are you worried about?" Sarah's smile was cold as she lifted his hand off the suitcase. "When you planned to leave us and even wrote a will, weren't you quite at ease?"
With that, she walked past him without mercy, turned around, and asked the staff to help with the luggage. She got a new room.
Antonio followed her the whole time, only relaxing when he saw she hadn't left the hotel. "Sarah, the air conditioning in this hotel is a bit cold. Remember to use a blanket at night. If you feel cold, ask the staff to adjust the temperature. Also..."
He followed behind, nagging about every little detail, making Sarah feel very uncomfortable.
He could be so patient in caring for her, so why couldn't he take good care of his own health? Why did he always like to lie? Didn't he realize that a big part of her anger was because she was worried about him?
'Antonio, you idiot!' She thought.
"Enough!" She suddenly interrupted him, her face cold. "I'm not some clueless idiot who needs you to fawn over me. Before you came back to life, didn't I live just fine on my own?"
With that, she entered the room and slammed the door shut.
Antonio was silent.
He kept a stern face and finally let out a heavy sigh.
It seemed Sarah's anger wouldn't dissipate anytime soon.
The next day, Antonio got up early to buy Sarah's favorite breakfast and went to her room to ring the doorbell. But after ringing for a while, there was no response.
He leaned against the wall, thinking he shouldn't disturb her sleep.
Just then, a housekeeper passed by and asked curiously, "Sir, are you looking for Ms. Miller who stays here?"
She asked because she had seen them together yesterday and thought they must be acquaintances.
Antonio frowned slightly. "Yes."
"Oh, then you probably won't find her this morning. Ms. Miller went out."
"What?" He suddenly looked up. "Where did she go?"
The housekeeper was startled by his reaction. How could such a handsome man like Antonio have such a bad temper? She replied timidly, "Ms. Miller said she went bungee jumping, you..."
"Bungee jumping?" Antonio interrupted her sharply, thinking he had misheard. His heart skipped a beat, and his whole body tensed up.
Sarah was pregnant, and she suddenly wanted to go bungee jumping.
After a moment, he asked in a cold voice, "Do you know where she went bungee jumping?"
The housekeeper glanced at him with a complicated expression and gave him an address. Luminara had a famous tourist spot, a high tower on the edge of a cliff, where the most popular activity was cliff bungee jumping. That was where Sarah went.
Hearing the word "cliff," Antonio almost fainted. He blamed himself for not getting up earlier to keep an eye on her and for not being honest from the start.
He truly felt the depth of regret once again!
He couldn't think about it anymore!
Antonio practically sprinted out the door, heading for the bungee jumping site.
He arrived quickly. The activity was too extreme, so there were many onlookers but very few participants. There wasn't even a line, and Antonio rushed straight to the base of the high tower.
He looked up and saw a small figure on the high platform—it was Sarah!
She was already strapped in and was stretching her arms and legs, looking like she was warming up and ready to jump at any moment.
Antonio gasped, his heart almost leaping out of his chest!
