Chapter 931 What is Sarah Hiding?

Antonio looked stern, but then he turned around and poured her a glass of water before calling room service to get some fever medicine.

Just as he was about to hang up, Sarah, who had been eavesdropping, suddenly chimed in, "Hey... I think my throat's hurting too. Could you get some antibiotics as well?"

Her wound was clearly infected, and just taking fever medicine probably wouldn't help much.

Antonio glanced at her before turning back to the phone to add the request.

After hanging up, he turned back to her.

"Sarah, I can let you be for now, but you have to promise me that if the fever doesn't go down after taking the medicine tonight, you have to go to the hospital with me."

He said this very seriously, and Sarah instinctively shrank back, avoiding his gaze. "Well... let's talk about it tonight. I think I'll be fine after taking the medicine."

Antonio wanted to say more, but seeing her weak face, he could only feel pity.

This woman...

He really didn't know what to do with her.

Soon, room service brought the medicine, and after Sarah took it, she began to sweat, and her temperature gradually decreased.

Antonio sighed in relief. "Since your fever's down now, how about I run you a bath? It might make you feel better."

"No... no need!"

Sarah immediately refused, then realized she might have sounded too eager. She softened her tone, "I'm too weak to move... maybe tomorrow. I'll just change my clothes."

Her wound was infected; she couldn't risk getting it wet.

Antonio looked at her with uncertainty, feeling like he was missing something important.

Sarah got up and found some loungewear from her suitcase, heading straight to the bathroom.

"I thought you said you weren't going to bathe? Where are you going?"

"I'm not bathing... but I need to freshen up. I can do it myself. You've taken care of me long enough, take a break."

She quickly walked into the bathroom, closing and locking the door behind her in one smooth motion.

Antonio stared at the bathroom door, the strange feeling in his gut growing stronger, making him increasingly uneasy.

She never used to lock the door at home, even when she took a bath.

But today... she locked herself in just to change clothes. She was clearly avoiding him.

Why?

Meanwhile, back in the country, a nurse at the hospital in the Northwest was tidying up Sarah's room when she accidentally shook out a box from the bedding. It fell to the floor and opened, revealing an expensive diamond necklace.

The nurse was stunned and quickly picked it up.

This was serious...

If it belonged to Mrs. Valencia, she'd be very worried if it were lost.

The nurse didn't dare delay and quickly found Sarah's number to call her.

Sarah had just come out of the bathroom when she received the nurse's call. After listening, she was puzzled, "I didn't bring any diamond necklace, it's not..."

She paused, suddenly remembering the valuable brooch Bob had given her. Could the necklace be from him, too?

"It's not mine, it must be my friend's. I'm not in a position to handle this right now. I'll give you his number, you should contact him directly."

She and Bob shouldn't have any more ties to each other.

The nurse quickly dialed the number Sarah provided.

"Hello, is this Mr. Bob Morrison?"

Bob glanced at the number, confirming he didn't recognize it. "Yeah, this is Bob. What's up?"

"I'm a nurse from Northwest Hospital. We found a diamond necklace in Mrs. Valencia's room and wanted to check if it might be yours."

Something left in Sarah's room?

They must have asked Sarah first... but she didn't contact him herself.

So, she didn't even want to speak to him now?

Bob's lips curled into a self-mocking smile. "Anything in Mrs. Valencia's room belongs to her. You should give it to her."

"Mr. Valencia and Mrs. Valencia have already checked out and left the country. I called Mrs. Valencia, and she said it might be yours."

"They left the country to be with their kid?"

Sarah had mentioned they sent their kid abroad.

"Be with their kid? They need to find the kid first..."

The nurse blurted out, then quickly corrected herself, "I don't know... Mr. Valencia and Mrs. Valencia didn't specify their whereabouts."

Close call!

She almost let it slip!

Mrs. Valencia had repeatedly instructed them not to reveal anything.

But even so, Bob sensed something was off!

To find the kid first? What did that mean?

Could it be that the kid was missing, and Sarah lied about sending the kid abroad?

But the nurse was clearly hiding something, so Bob didn't press further. "The necklace isn't mine. You should check again, it might be Mrs. Valencia's, and she just forgot."

After hanging up, Bob stared out the window, the vibrant scenery reflecting in his deep eyes, making the black in his pupils look like a vortex.

What happened to their kid?

Soon, Sarah received another call from the nurse, who said the necklace wasn't Bob's. But Sarah had no interest in dealing with the necklace, so she told the nurse to handle it and ended the call.

Antonio saw her deep in thought and waved a hand in front of her eyes. "You've been distracted since earlier. What's wrong?"

"Nothing."

Sarah put away her phone. "Let's go out and look for clues. My fever's down now."

"Aren't you tired?"

Antonio felt her forehead again. "The fever's down, but you should rest in the hotel. I'll go alone, okay?"

"No, I want to go with you."

Sarah held onto his hand, not letting go.

"I'll just worry if I stay in the hotel. I'd rather do something with you. Even a small progress will bring us closer to finding Eden."

With her saying this, Antonio couldn't refuse.

The frustration in his heart turned into a deep sense of helplessness. He leaned down and kissed her forehead. "If you feel unwell, tell me right away. No pushing yourself."

"Okay, I know."

It was already evening, the city lights flickering, giving the city a glamorous facade that made the future seem uncertain.

The driver took them back to Loving Arms Orphanage, where Aaron was waiting at the entrance. As soon as they got out of the car, he approached them.

"Mr. Valencia."

"How's the investigation going?"

"This orphanage is very remote, and there aren't many cameras around. But we found a small store with a camera nearby, and there's a small clip that seems to show...Eden."
