Chapter 124 What Right Do You Have to Take Ethan Away
On the flip side, Michael was pacing like a madman.
Yesterday, he tried to talk Ethan out of it, but Ethan was stubborn as a mule. Michael had to back off, but he couldn't shake the worry.
Especially since Ethan was flying solo this time. If things went south, there'd be no one to bail him out.
Michael was a bundle of nerves, constantly checking the clock. "Ethan's been MIA for ages. No texts, no calls."
As the evening rolled in, a gnarly thought hit Michael.
Ethan might be in deep trouble!
Michael's heart was pounding like a drum. After a moment of hesitation, he dialed Sarah.
He had promised Ethan to keep this on the down-low, but given the situation, he had no choice but to spill the beans.
If Ethan was really snagged by Antonio, only Sarah could save his bacon!
Meanwhile, Sarah was brooding in her room, plotting her escape plan.
Her mind was a mess when her phone buzzed, snapping her out of it. Seeing Michael's name, she was puzzled.
Why the heck was Michael calling her?
Could it be something happened to Ethan?
A wave of dread washed over her, and she quickly picked up.
Michael's frantic voice came through. "Sarah, something's up with Ethan!"
"What?" Sarah shot up, her voice urgent. "Be more specific, what happened to Ethan?"
Harper, who was nearby, heard this and her heart skipped a beat. She jumped off the bed and rushed to Sarah's side.
She looked up at Sarah, ears glued to the phone, her little hands twisting nervously.
What the heck? Ethan can't be in trouble!
Michael hesitated before spilling the beans. "Actually, Ethan went to Antonio's company today. He said he wanted to mess with Antonio, but he hasn't come back yet, so I think Ethan might have..."
Sarah's heart sank like a stone. Her hand holding the phone shook slightly.
She had warned Ethan at the airport not to go solo, but she got why he did it—for her.
But Antonio was a beast, ruthless and all. If Ethan was really caught, his cover would be blown.
Antonio might lose it and hurt Ethan!
"I'm heading over there now!" Sarah hung up and bolted out the door.
Harper was freaking out too. Seeing Sarah leave, she instinctively followed. "Mommy, I wanna help save Ethan too!"
But Sarah stopped her. "Harper, you stay put and wait for me."
Seeing Sarah's no-nonsense attitude, Harper thought for a second and then nodded obediently. "Okay, but Mommy, be careful!"
Sarah nodded, her mind laser-focused on rescuing Ethan. She dashed out of the villa, not thinking about anything else.
She floored it all the way to the Valencia Group, her heart feeling like it was in a vice, making it hard to breathe.
Her face was pale, her beautiful eyes filled with worry and rage, and she gritted her teeth.
The cold, heartless words from five years ago echoed in her ears again. "Abort the child..."
That was his kid, yet Antonio had said that without a second thought.
The most heartless person in the world couldn't be worse than him.
The car screeched to a halt in front of the Valencia Group building.
Sarah jumped out and stormed through the front door. The security guards recognized her and bowed respectfully.
The receptionist also recognized Sarah and noticed her grim expression. Not daring to say much, she quickly stepped forward to assist and opened the executive elevator for her.
Sarah had no time for pleasantries. She barged into the CEO's office.
But inside, there was only Antonio, no sign of Ethan.
She glared at Antonio, and in that instant, Sarah knew her suspicion was right.
He had found Ethan!
"Where is he?" Sarah demanded through gritted teeth, her voice as icy as her stare, filled with obvious anger.
Antonio's eyes darkened, but he stayed silent, just coldly staring at the intruding Sarah. 'Is she really that worried about Ethan?' he thought.
Ethan was in his hands, but he wasn't about to let her see him.
Antonio asked, "You wanna see him?"
Sarah was fuming, her delicate face twisted with anger, her eyes sharp as daggers.
"Of course! Antonio, what right do you have to capture Ethan?"
Hearing this, Antonio's cold smile deepened. "What right? Ethan tried to blow up my company."
As he spoke, he stood up from his chair, his sharp, cold eyes still locked on Sarah's face. "He provoked me over and over. I didn't send him to the cops, which is already pretty lenient."
His pride had been stomped on multiple times, and he had been holding back.
But finding out Ethan was Sarah's kid with another man? That was something he absolutely couldn't tolerate!
