Chapter 392 Who dares to do this!

The figure on the bed trembled, ensnared in the throes of a relentless nightmare.

Brian, locating the switch on the mattress, promptly deactivated the nightmare mode. With a quiet flick, he adjusted it to the more soothing sweet dream setting. He further enhanced the tranquility by lighting an incense stick on Antonio's bedside table.

The aromatic smoke wafted through the room, aiding sleep and granting Antonio, who was still recuperating from illness and injury, a dreamless slumber that would last until dawn.

"I'm not accepting you, I'm merely repaying you for your heroics tonight. Don't overthink it," Brian muttered to the sleeping Antonio, his tone a blend of awkwardness and stubbornness.

Unaware of the world around him, Antonio was deep in sleep. The nightmare had dissipated, replaced by a profound tranquility that invited him into an even deeper slumber.

Once a person is ensconced in comfort, the blankets often become the unwitting victims of restless slumber.

Brian watched as Antonio kicked the blanket onto the floor. His initial plan was to make a swift exit, but the chill of the autumn nights gave him pause. He knew that a blanket-less sleep could lead to a rude awakening in the middle of the night.

After a moment's hesitation, he picked up the discarded blanket and draped it over Antonio.

Having completed his tasks, Bria n felt a flush of embarrassment. He retreated hastily, returning to the sanctuary of his own room.

Antonio, the unwitting recipient of such special care, remained oblivious to the night's events. When he finally awoke, the world outside was bathed in the soft glow of morning.

The chirping of birds and the playful sounds from Century Garden filled his ears, lifting his spirits considerably.

"Mummy, I'll go wake Daddy up," Harper's voice echoed through the door. Antonio, smiling knowingly, rose to open it. His gaze fell on the burned-out incense on the nightstand.

Odd, who could have lit it?

Could there be something amiss with the house?

Before he could ponder further, Harper had already knocked and entered the room.

"Daddy, good morning! Oh, Daddy, why did you change your hairstyle?"

"It's all thanks to Mommy," Antonio replied, lifting Harper into his arms.

"Daddy looks handsome no matter what hairstyle!" Harper praised him generously.

Having enjoyed a restful slee p and now basking in his daughter's enthusiastic compliments, Antonio was in high spirits.

He carried Harper out of the bedroom, took a seat at the dining table, and greeted his sons.

"Ethan, Ryan, good morning."

"Good morning," Ethan responded, his lips pursed.

His discomfort wasn't due to awkwardness, but rather confusion. He couldn't understand why his older brother hadn't emerged that morning.

It was a known fact that when Antonio was home, Brian always took care of things. So why the sudden change?

The morning breakfast had been a delight, a rare occasion of tranquility that Antonio hadn't savored in what felt like an eternity.

Upon finishing his meal, he found himself yearning to prolong the moment, to bask in the joy of his children's company.

However, Sarah, ever the pragmatic one, had already consulted the day's schedule and promptly nudged him, "Antonio, it's time for work."

"No rush, let Harper and I finish this first," Antonio responded, a hint of reluctance in his voice.

Sarah's eyes sparkled with amusement as she observed him engrossed in assembling LEGO puzzles with Harper. "But don't you remember the meeting this morning? You stayed up so late yesterday and forgot to sign in!"

She continued, "Oh, and you have an important meeting in the southern suburbs today. The CEO called yesterday to remind you. Hurry up and get ready. "

A sigh escaped Antonio's lips. Despite being the owner of a vast business empire, he couldn't afford the simple pleasure of playing LEGO with his daughter...

He rose from his seat, his heart heavy with the reluctance of leaving this precious moment of bonding. He gently caressed Harper's face.

"How about we continue playing together when Dad comes back from work?" he proposed.

Harper nodded in understanding. "Then make sure you come back in the evening, Harper will be waiting for you at home."

"Don't worry, sweetheart." Antonio planted a kiss on Harper's forehead, then proceeded to kiss Ethan and Ryan's faces.

For reasons he couldn't fathom, parting from his children today felt particularly difficult.

Ethan and Ryan were surprised by Antonio's sudden display of affection. Feeling slightly awkward, they bid the adults goodbye.

Harper sighed, "Oh brother, come out already. Mom and Dad have already left."

Brian finally emerged and asked, "What's with the sighs?"

"Mom and Dad left, and I feel a bit bored. I want to go play on a roller coaster," Harper replied, resting her chin on her hand.

"Then let's go play," Brian promptly arranged for a car to pick them up.

"Hooray for big brother!" Harper leapt off the couch in excitement, packing her things with a sense of satisfaction.

Ryan had a medical appointment that day, so he couldn't join Harper in her adventure. "Have a great time, and I'll be waiting for you to come back home," he said.

"I'll bring you something yummy when I return. And don't forget to cheer up for your doctor's appointment today!" Harper hugged Ryan, treating him like a younger brother despite knowing that he was older.

Ryan blushed slightly and urged Brian and the others to have a good time, reminding them to come back early.

After bidding farewell to Ryan, the three children climbed into the car parked outside their front door.

Brian had an extensive collection of cars, and he wasn't sure which one had been arranged for him, but seeing as they were all parked there, he boarded without a second thought.

"Why did they send such a big car today?" Brian, sitting in the backseat, was unaccustomed to the business car.

Little did he know, as soon as he uttered those words, a small knife was pressed against his neck!
