Chapter 319 Sarah's Sadness

Serene felt incredibly embarrassed and looked at Sarah in disbelief. "Does my dad see me as a caregiver?"

Before Sarah could respond, Kevin angrily exclaimed, "Who is your dad? My daughter is sitting right here! You, young girl, how can you mistake someone for your father so casually?"

Sarah hurriedly stepped forward to calm the situation, "Dad, this is my good friend. You watched her grow up, remember?"

"Oh, is that so? Why do I have no memory of her?" Kevin fell into a confused state again and sat in silence on the bed.

Sarah glanced at Serene reassuringly, saying, "This has been happening all morning. Sometimes, he thinks he's still in college, and other times he remembers his current status. Don't take it too seriously."

Serene wiped away a tear from the corner of her eye and replied, "I understand. I just feel a little sad, Sarah. I truly don't know how to thank you."

"It's alright, no need to be too polite." Sarah wiped the corner of Kevin's mouth and suggested, "Dad, why don't we lie down and rest for a while?"

Kevin slowly regained his senses and said, "Daughter, have you had lunch? How about I take you to the amusement park this afternoon, would you like that?"

"Why don't you take a nap first?" Sarah smiled gently, showing no impatience whatsoever.

Kevin nodded and turned his head to look at Serene. However, this time, his behavior slightly changed when speaking to Serene. Just moments ago, he would speak fiercely towards Serene, but this time he quickly put on a polite smile and said, "Miss Caregiver, I am going to take a nap now. My daughter is here, so you can go back for now."

'Great! He mistook me as a caregiver again!'

Sarah sighed helplessly and said, "Leave it to me here. You rest for a while, and I'll wake you up when you're ready."

Serene had no choice but to nod her head. Serene then said, "Alright, I'll trouble you then."

Sarah acknowledged her and continued to attend to Kevin's nap.

Little did she know that he had just laid down but didn't feel sleepy at all. Instead, he started chatting with Sarah about their family.

"Daughter, I've prepared many new dresses for you. Take a look and see if you like them."

As Serene listened to the gentle voice behind her, the resentment and jealousy in her eyes became even more apparent. She turned her head slightly, observing Sarah's smiling face, and clenched her hands tightly.

While conversing with Sarah inside the ward, Kevin's memories seemed to return to his younger days.

"Our school had a large garden, but unfortunately, there were no flowers, only grass. I don't know where those foreigners got their customs from, bringing their pets to school.

"Every time we passed by, someone would scream, and some people would constantly sneeze due to allergies to dog hair. But even with tears streaming down their faces, they still wanted to approach and play with the little dogs and cats..."

Kevin had a longing expression as he spoke as if recalling something that brought him joy.

Sarah suddenly felt a sense of déjà vu.

Throughout this period, Antonio had persistently delved into her mother's academic history.

Sarah had stumbled upon relevant information, recalling that her mother's alma mater permitted students to bring their pets, asserting that it enriched the garden's soil.

Sarah found this revelation astonishing; she had never anticipated that Kevin's school shared this peculiar trait.

"Well, let's go under the big sculpture then. We can see cats and dogs there, and it's also a nice place to cool off with water nearby," Sarah casually mentioned the information she had seen, not expecting Kevin to actually agree and nod.

"You're right, but that big sculpture is just so ugly. I can't stand it. How can such a nice school have such an ugly sculpture?"

The two continued talking and seemed to agree on most things. Sarah couldn't help but wonder if all foreign schools were the same.

Perhaps if fate really existed, for all they knew, maybe Kevin and her mother could be alumni.

If it weren't for Serene and Victor, Sarah might have suspected that Kevin had known her mother.

But now, everything was set in stone. She wouldn't indulge in those meaningless speculations anymore.

It was only when Kevin grew tired that their conversation finally came to a halt.

Speaking softly, Sarah gently lulled Kevin to sleep before preparing to leave herself.

However, her heart suddenly felt a bit sad, unsure when Kevin would be able to return to normal...
