Chapter 605 Had He Fallen in Love with Her

But he was not Antonio.

This man had never been the one in her dreams. Sarah quickly lowered her eyes to stop the tears from falling, but her red nose and the area around her eyes betrayed her sadness.

Benjamin was stunned for a moment, then swiftly grasped the situation.

He slowly withdrew his hand, still feeling the lingering sensation of the movement. This sensation inexplicably stirred excitement within him. He knew it was the baby's movement.

A sign of life within a woman, a baby completely unrelated to him.

Why was he excited?

Benjamin suddenly felt a headache coming on. He cleared his throat, "Are you hurt?"

Sarah shook her head slightly, "Nope."

The urge to cry had already subsided. She knew that the man in front of her was not Antonio. Even if this body really was Antonio's, he had no memory of Antonio, nor did he have any love for her and the children.

He would never be him.

Thinking of this, Sarah suddenly felt annoyed and didn't want to talk to him.

She wiped her face, moved a little to the side, and took out her phone to make a call.

"Why is there no signal?" She muttered to herself, frowning as she raised her phone high.

However, after checking for a while, the phone still displayed no signal.

Benjamin frowned and looked up. Although he could see the top of the cave entrance, it was several meters high. Climbing up without equipment was obviously impossible, especially in Sarah's condition, it was not convenient.

He reached out to lower her raised hand. Benjamin offered, "Let me try."

Sarah awkwardly avoided looking at him and pulled her hand back, "My phone signal is very weak. The call definitely won't go through. Benjamin, check your phone first."

"Okay." Benjamin felt her avoidance and responded heavily, feeling a bit upset. He took out his phone from his pocket and couldn't help but say, "You rest for a bit. I'll figure something out."

After speaking, he got up and walked a few steps away to make a call.

Sarah watched his broad back and curled up in the corner. The sadness she had suppressed began to resurface, and she had to remind herself repeatedly.

He was not Antonio.

In this repeated struggle, she fell into a hazy sleep.

Benjamin managed to contact the rescue team, but they had already gone deep into the mountains, making it difficult to pinpoint their location.

The sky in the mountains quickly darkened. When he put away his phone and returned to the cave, he saw Sarah sleeping in the corner.

Her brows were furrowed, and she looked uncomfortable.

Benjamin quickly took off his coat and walked over to cover her with it.

"So cold," As he approached, he heard the woman's weak murmur.

He squatted beside her and saw that her forehead was covered in fine sweat, her lips were pale, and her cheeks were slightly flushed.

"Sarah?" Benjamin tried calling her, but there was no response. He hesitated for a moment before reaching out to touch her forehead, feeling the heat beneath his fingers.

She had a fever.

But the rescue team didn't know how long it would take to arrive. For the first time, Benjamin felt helpless. He gritted his teeth in frustration and decisively pulled Sarah into his arms, covering her with his suit jacket.

Benjamin pleaded, "Sarah? Wake up."

He was concerned that her condition might worsen if she continued sleeping, so he softly urged, "Sarah, wake up."

Sarah was in a daze, vaguely hearing Antonio's voice. She panicked, reached out to grab him, and said, "Don't go."

"I'm not going anywhere." Benjamin was relieved to hear her speak, and said, "You have a fever. Are you feeling very uncomfortable?"

Sarah's eyelids fluttered, and she opened her eyes. The person from her dreams was right in front of her. The face she had longed to see countless times in the middle of the night was now filled with worry. In the dim light, his eyes seemed to glow.

It was him, her Antonio.

Sarah said, "You're finally back."

Sarah couldn't help but reach out to touch his face. Long-suppressed grief and longing overwhelmed her, and her tears flowed uncontrollably.

Sarah said, longingly, "Antonio, do you know how much I miss you?"

Benjamin froze, realizing she was feverish and confused, mistaking him for her ex-husband. He had to admit once again that she truly loved him.

"I'm so tired," Sarah remarked and moved slightly in his arms, feeling both aggrieved and helpless.

She added, "Every day, I wait, knowing it's hopeless, but I still believe you'll come back. You love me so much. How could you bear to leave me and the children?"

She continued talking to herself, then suddenly smiled, "I'm glad I waited. Please don't leave again, okay? Never leave us again."

Benjamin didn't dare move, unsure of how to respond. He could only be cautious not to harm the woman in his arms.

He didn't know what he was feeling—shocked, but more than that, a bit jealous.

How deep must that man's imprint be in her heart for her to miss him so much?
Sarah, not getting a response, seemed dissatisfied and pouted, "Why aren't you talking? Are you planning to leave me again?"

She seemed on the verge of tears again.

"Or are you really not Antonio?" Her voice dropped as if losing the last bit of hope.

"I am," Benjamin quickly replied.

But after he said it, he felt a strange, indescribable feeling. It was odd, yet he didn't feel repulsed.

Could he be willing to be a stand-in?

The thought was too absurd and was quickly dismissed. All that remained was concern for Sarah.

Benjamin assured her, "I won't leave you and the children again, I promise."

The woman seemed unsure, gripping his arm tightly.

Sarah doubted, "Really?"

Benjamin coaxed, "Really. Be good, don't cry."

Her tears made him anxious. At that moment, Benjamin realized deeply that he indeed had an extraordinary feeling for this woman. She had inexplicably found her way into his heart, and he was deeply entangled.

Sarah smiled and nodded, "Okay, don't leave, I won't cry."

Her mixed expressions of tears and laughter made her unexpectedly more beautiful than usual, making Benjamin feel needed by her.

Could this feeling really be love?
