Chapter 81 Dad Finally Got It
Antonio's head snapped to the side, and he bit down on his cheek, trying to keep his cool.
But Sarah, still not done, swung her arm and slapped him again!
James stood nearby, frozen like a statue.
Damn, Sarah was fierce!
Sarah shot Antonio a death glare, her face all red, and stormed off.
She burst into the house, just in time to see Harper chilling in the living room, glued to the TV.
Her hand hovered over the buttons, feeling all kinds of uneasy, her cheeks burning up.
Harper was happily munching on popcorn. When she saw Sarah, her eyes went wide, and she mumbled, "Mommy, why are your clothes all wet?"
She glanced at the clear sky outside, tilting her head in confusion. It hadn't rained today.
Sarah looked troubled, hesitating on how to brush it off.
To keep them out of it, she never told the kids about her drama with the Miller family. She didn't want her kids getting mixed up in that mess.
Just then, Antonio walked in. Harper saw he was also soaking wet and looking rough. A knowing glint flashed in her big eyes, and she stifled a laugh, saying nothing.
Sarah heard footsteps and instinctively turned to look. She saw Antonio holding a suit jacket, his wet white shirt hanging open, buttons undone.
Her eyes flickered. Remembering what had just happened, her cheeks heated up again, and she quickly turned away, not wanting to look at him.
Antonio, having been slapped twice, looked seriously pissed.
But when he glanced at Sarah's flushed cheeks and her still dripping hair, a flicker of warmth appeared deep in his eyes. He sighed almost inaudibly and reminded her, "Go take a shower. Don't catch a cold."
Then he told the maid to get some hot drinks to warm her up.
Harper sat on the armrest of the sofa, hugging the popcorn bucket, her legs swinging happily, her eyes darting back and forth between Antonio and Sarah.
It looked like there was hope for their reconciliation.
Harper was daydreaming when she suddenly lost her balance and fell backward!
Her eyes widened in terror, instinctively reaching out to grab something, forgetting she was holding something in her hands. "Oh no!"
They both were startled and reached out simultaneously, but everything happened too quickly. Harper's small hand flung up, and the large bucket of popcorn in her arms spilled all over her.
Harper climbed up from the sofa, popcorn hanging from her hair and clothes. She pouted and said with a face full of grievance, "My popcorn!"
Sarah couldn't help but laugh, looking at Harper with amusement, her voice trembling with laughter. "Harper, Mom said no sitting on the sofa arm! You didn't listen!"
Fortunately, Harper wasn't hurt, and Sarah felt relieved.
She forgot about the earlier unpleasantness, her delicate face filled with a doting smile as she went over to help Harper pick off the popcorn.
Antonio was also amused by Harper's comical appearance, his thin lips curling up, but he quickly remembered Harper wasn't his child, and the smile faded from his lips.
Harper, seeing herself being laughed at by Sarah, wasn't angry. Instead, she was overjoyed.
She laughed along, even picking a piece of popcorn from her hair and popping it into her mouth, looking at Antonio with her big, sparkling eyes.
She thought she saw Antonio smile just now, making him look even more handsome.
For a moment, the entire villa was filled with an unprecedented harmony.
Sarah turned her head and locked eyes with Antonio, who was looking at her with a soft, amused expression.
With Harper's antics, she had momentarily forgotten her current mess.
Antonio didn't know Harper was his kid, yet he stubbornly refused to let her go.
And she had almost lost it in the car, but she had sworn never to see Antonio again in this lifetime. She planned to leave with the kids after rescuing Brady.
Sarah's mind was a whirlwind, not understanding what was happening to her. Her face turned pale, and she turned to leave.
Antonio noticed the change in her expression, watching her retreating figure.
He kept his gaze on her until she disappeared upstairs, the smile in his eyes gradually fading, replaced by a deep, contemplative look.
Sarah, feeling agitated, finished her shower and pushed open the door, only to be startled by the sight of the floor lamp on and someone sitting on the sofa.
She hurriedly tightened the collar of her bathrobe, warily looking at Antonio. "What are you doing here?"
Sarah noticed that Antonio seemed to have just showered as well.
He leaned back on the sofa, a dark silk robe draped over him, the collar slightly open, revealing his chiseled collarbone and part of his firm chest.
The dim light cast mysterious shadows on his angular face, and his slightly messy wet hair added a touch of lazy charm.
Sarah frowned, turning her eyes away from Antonio.
Antonio didn't answer her question, his deep eyes fixed on her, not missing a single change in her expression.
A glint flashed in his eyes, and he suddenly stood up, striding towards Sarah.
Seeing him approach, Sarah moved towards the door, trying to maintain a calm tone as she coldly warned, "Just 'cause I live here doesn't give you free access to my room. Get out!"
She yanked the door open, but Antonio quickly reached out, pushing the door shut and grabbing her shoulders, pinning her against the door.
Antonio's towering figure loomed over, exuding a freshly showered scent and an undeniable masculine presence, causing Sarah's body to tense up instantly.
She quickly raised her hand to push him away. "What do you want now? Let go of me."
In the car, she had almost been...
Now, being alone with him in a room, she was terrified something beyond her control might happen.
This was completely against her plan!
Her mind was in chaos, not knowing what to do, on the verge of breaking down.
Antonio looked down at Sarah, seeing her pale face and conflicted eyes.
His gaze softened, and he gently caressed her cheek, his voice softening. "What's bothering you? Tell me."
For a moment, Sarah felt like she was back a few years ago.
Whenever she showed a hint of sadness or difficulty, he would always ask with such tenderness and concern, then help her analyze and solve the problem.
However, she couldn't say it.
Five years ago, what happened with Lisa was a hurdle she couldn't get over.
She still couldn't bring herself to tell him that she had given birth to his child.
Sarah casually brushed it off. "I'm fine, you don't need to worry about me."
Antonio knew she was lying but didn't press her. "I can stop asking you, but don't resist me anymore."
Hearing this, Sarah closed her eyes, feeling it was laughable.
What good was his gentle and considerate behavior now?
As she was thinking this, she felt Antonio's warm breath on her skin.
She looked up to see Antonio lowering his head, his warm breath on her neck, making her shiver.
"Then let's continue what we didn't finish earlier."
