Chapter 930 Can't Do Anything About You

Sarah and Antonio exchanged a glance, their eyes brimming with tears of joy.

"Can you... Director, could you please take us to see her?"

"I'm sorry."

The director shook his head, "That baby was adopted just yesterday by a couple who couldn't have children. I can give you their address, and you can try your luck."

With the address in hand, Antonio thanked her sincerely and then hurried off with Sarah to the couple's home.

Standing at the door, Sarah hesitated, clutching Antonio's arm tightly. Her voice trembled. "Do you think... it could be Eden?"

It had to be her!

Their Eden... had been away from them for far too long.

Please, God, let her come back to us soon.

Antonio gently squeezed her hand, comforting her softly, "Let's go in and ask. We'll find her, trust me."

Maybe it was his unwavering belief that gave Sarah a bit of courage, and the helplessness she felt began to fade.

"Okay..."

The driver stepped forward and knocked on the door. The couple was home, and the woman was holding a chubby, healthy-looking baby.

"Hello, can I help you?"

Sarah didn't speak, her gaze fixed on the baby. The light in her eyes dimmed, turning gray and desolate.

It wasn't...

It wasn't Eden!

How could this be?

If this wasn't the child, then where was Eden?! She was so small, where could she be?

Antonio sensed Sarah's distress and quickly asked the couple a few questions before thanking them and leaving.

There was no need to ask; it was clear at a glance that the baby wasn't Eden.

Eden was a premature baby. The doctor had said she needed to stay in the incubator for at least two weeks. She weighed less than eight pounds at birth. How could she have grown so much in such a short time?!

"Sarah!"

He held her shoulders, looking at her pale face and the dazed, confused look in her eyes, as if she was on the verge of breaking down.

This feeling...

It was like when she had her mental breakdown not long ago.

Antonio's heart ached, almost suffocating, as he pulled her into his arms, "Don't give up, okay? We'll find Eden, we will!"

Sarah knew he meant not to give up on herself.

How could she?

Last time, her mental breakdown had caused Antonio to have a severe car accident. She couldn't let herself fall apart again.

She just felt... so tired.

She wanted to rest.

"I know... Don't be sad. Look at this couple, they're so nice. Maybe Eden was adopted by people like them, and she's healthy and waiting for us."

Antonio felt a weight lift from his heart at her words, holding her tighter, as if he wanted to merge her into his body.

"Eden is waiting for us... We'll find her, right, Sarah?"

Sarah was already weak, and being held so tightly, she accidentally touched the wound on her waist.

In that instant, the pain made her gasp.

"Let... let go of me."

Antonio didn't understand, but he stepped back, his hand still on her waist, "What's wrong, Sarah?"

Sarah's face turned pale, and she pushed his hand away, moving aside, "Nothing... I'm just tired. Don't touch me."

Her movements were too obvious, and her body arched uncontrollably, as if hiding something.

Antonio reached out to her, "Sarah, are you feeling okay?"

Before he could touch her, Sarah got into the car.

She tried to make her expression look natural, "I'm just tired. Don't you know it takes a long time for a mother to recover?"

Antonio watched her for a while, not seeing anything unusual, and got into the car. "Let's head back to the hotel and rest. We'll figure out the next steps."

Since Eden wasn't at the orphanage, there were only two possibilities: either she was adopted by someone else, or she never made it to the orphanage.

Either way, finding her would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.

For now, they could only stay in Shadow City and see if they could find any clues.

Antonio planned to take his wife back to the hotel and then return to the orphanage.

But as soon as they got upstairs, he realized Sarah had a fever.

As soon as she entered the room, sweat broke out on her forehead and neck, her face pale as a sheet, and her breathing labored.

Antonio was heartbroken, quickly grabbing a warm towel to wipe her face.

"Honey... you were fine before, how did you suddenly get a fever?"

Sarah struggled to open her eyes and look at him, "Maybe... It's the change in environment. I haven't traveled this far in a long time."

Actually, it was probably an infection...

She could feel the burning pain from the wound on her lower back, radiating heat.

Antonio wiped her sweat, his hand lingering on her forehead, his brows furrowing deeper, "No, your temperature is too high. We need to go to the hospital."

He put down the towel, ready to pick her up.

Sarah panicked, pushing him away, "No... I don't want to go to the hospital. Just get me some medicine."

Seeing Antonio's face stiffen, she softened her tone, "I've already spent so much time in the hospital, I really don't want to go back. Please understand."

The main thing was that if she went to the hospital, the wound on her waist would be exposed.

At this point, with Eden still missing, it wasn't the right time to talk about it.

Antonio watched her for a while, then sighed, "Not liking hospitals is one thing, but being sick means you need to see a doctor. Your temperature is so high, how can you not go to the hospital?"

"We won't stay, just see the doctor and come back. I'll be with you, okay?"

Sarah bit her lip, not speaking.

But her stubborn expression made it clear that she wasn't going.

Antonio was truly anxious, reaching out to hold her, "Sarah, please? Look at you, sweating so much but not getting better. How can this go on?"

"I said I'm not going!"

Sarah sat up on the couch, her eyes showing a hint of defensiveness, "Antonio, don't push me, okay?!"

He just wanted to persuade her to see a doctor; how was that he pushing her?

Antonio looked at her in disbelief, then sighed deeply, pacing a few steps, feeling like she was driving him crazy.

"Sarah, I never realized you were so stubborn. I really..."

Hearing him call her name, Sarah felt a bit nervous, still feeling guilty, "What?"

"I really don't know what to do with you!"
