Sarah frowned. Since getting in the car, Antonio's eyes had been fixed on her, and she wondered what he was looking at. Though she had never driven like this before, the situation was urgent, wasn't it? What if something really happened to Serene?
"Alright, Mrs. Valencia," Antonio quickly straightened up and called Serene's secretary for the address. He then kindly provided Sarah with navigation.
Sarah drove quickly and skillfully, parking the car neatly in front of Serene's house.
Once at Serene's doorstep, Sarah got out of the car and knocked on the door. "Ms. Jerrett, are you home? It's Sarah."
Sarah called out for a while, but no one came to open the door. The house was eerily quiet, as if nobody was there.
"She's not at the office, not at the hospital, and not at home. Where could she be?" Sarah grew increasingly worried. "Should we call a locksmith and go inside to check? What if something unexpected happened at home and no one noticed?"
"No need for that," Antonio said as he took out a device resembling a fingerprint lock from his pocket. He then placed the device directly on Serene's door lock, entered a series of codes, and scanned his own fingerprints. The tightly locked door opened.
"What is this?" Sarah was taken aback. When did Antonio have such equipment?
"This is a convenient lock opener, specifically designed for locks like these. Fortunately, Serene's house has a smart lock," Antonio explained, removing the device and putting it back into his pocket.
"Wife, Brian gave me this gadget. High-tech stuff. Believe it or not, that little fella's mind is filled with all sorts of peculiar things. He said this invention was meant for security purposes, and he's planning to collaborate with the police after perfecting it."

"Serene, are you home?" Sarah called out in the living room.

Antonio and Sarah exchanged a glance, a sense of foreboding filling their hearts. They rushed toward the sound and forcefully pushed the door open.

Serene was lying quietly on the bed, pale and motionless, appearing as though she had lost all signs of life. Meanwhile, an empty medicine bottle had toppled over on the bedside table, and white pills were scattered all over the floor, a chilling sight to behold.

"Serene!" Sarah's voice trembled as she ran over, checking for her breath. She exclaimed, "She's still breathing! Antonio, quickly take her to the hospital!"

She scanned the bedroom and noticed a handwritten letter from Serene on the table. It must be a farewell letter... Without hesitation, Sarah picked it up and hurriedly followed Antonio outside.
