Chapter 593 Watching Sarah
The rooms were allocated, and Benjamin and Isabella were the first to return to their suite. Both had a lot of work to do and after handling their respective tasks, they realized it was already late.
"Let's call it a day," Benjamin said, putting away his laptop and glancing at the time on his wrist. "You should rest early; tomorrow will likely be busy."
With that, he stretched his neck and walked further into the room. Isabella watched his tall figure, suddenly pausing her actions, feeling a sense of loss. It seemed like he always left her with just his back.
Isabella bit her lip, feeling a deep sense of hopelessness. Could such a proud and noble man ever become gentle and lower his head for someone? Could she be that person? Or could that person be Sarah?
She had been present the entire time Benjamin and Sarah met today and hadn't noticed anything unusual. Yet, she felt an unprecedented sense of crisis.
No matter what, Isabella had finally gotten another chance to share a room with Benjamin. It would be a waste not to make the most of it.
Taking a deep breath, Isabella made a decision. She quickly tidied up the table, then called the front desk to order a good bottle of red wine and have it decanted.
She then turned and went into the bathroom to take a shower. By the time she finished, the wine should be ready.
Benjamin was unaware of all this.
After finishing his work, he intended to go downstairs to the gym. When he came out of the inner room, he didn't see Isabella. The bathroom door was closed, so she was probably washing up.
Just then, there was a knock on the door. Benjamin assumed it was room service that Isabella had called and opened the door. But there was nothing at eye level. He looked down instinctively and saw Ethan standing at the door, frowning.
"Why are you here?" he asked, squatting down. "What's wrong?"
Ethan was hunched over, looking extremely uncomfortable. His small face was pale, and his weak voice sounded like a mosquito's buzz.
Ethan said, "Benjamin, I think I'm sick. I don't feel well. Can you help me?"
Benjamin frowned and helped him up. The child did look very unwell, clutching his stomach. Could he have eaten something bad?
Benjamin inquired, "Where's your mom?"
"I knocked on my mom's door," Ethan said, pouting, "but no one answered."
Benjamin's face darkened, upset. Seeing Ethan's increasingly pained expression, he picked him up and brought him inside. "Did you call her?" he asked Ethan.
Sarah didn't seem like someone so irresponsible. It was unlikely she would go out without any explanation. What could have happened?
Ethan nodded, and said, "No one answered the phone either. I feel so bad, but I'm also worried about Mom. Benjamin, can you help me?"
Benjamin settled Ethan on the bed, gave him a glass of warm water, and checked his forehead. Thankfully, there was no fever. But if it was food poisoning, a thorough check-up was necessary.
Glancing at the time, Benjamin put on his coat and said naturally, "All right, I'll take you to the hospital first and then find someone to contact your mom."
"No!" Ethan quickly objected from the bed. Realizing his voice was too strong, he immediately softened it, sounding pitiful.
He claimed, "Benjamin, I've been afraid of hospitals since I was little! Can we not go?"
Tears started to flow. Benjamin, feeling helpless, rubbed his temples and tucked Ethan in. he comforted Ethan, saying, "All right, we won't go. Just stop crying."
He had no experience comforting children. Regardless of whether they went to the hospital, they needed to find Sarah first.
Benjamin told Ethan, "I'll call your mom."
"Benjamin," Ethan sniffled, "I have my mom's room key. Can you go check if she's there?"
Benjamin paused, holding his phone. "If you have your mom's room key, why didn't you go in and find her yourself?" he asked.
"I..." Ethan felt a bit guilty and couldn't admit it was intentional. He said, "I was feeling too sick and forgot."
He took the key card out of his pocket and handed it over. Ethan said, "Thank you, Benjamin. I'm too weak to get up now, so I have to trouble you."
Looking into his big eyes, Benjamin couldn't say no. After all, a child in trouble would naturally seek help from an adult.
Taking the key card, he quickly called the front desk to request some common children's medicine and instructed Ethan, "Rest well. I'll go find your mom."
"Okay!" Ethan urged him to hurry. Benjamin turned and left, heading to the room number Ethan had given.
At the door, remembering Ethan said he had knocked with no response, Benjamin didn't knock. He swiped the key card and entered. "Sarah?" he called out to her.
The room was dark. His deep, magnetic voice echoed and then fell silent. No response. Had she really gone out? Or was she sleeping too deeply?
To find out, he walked further in. Each room in this hot spring resort had a private courtyard and a hot spring pool. As Benjamin walked forward, he saw the scene in the courtyard.
Under the dim lights, steam rose and dissipated. In the black hot spring pool, a woman's fair skin was clearly visible. Benjamin's eyes narrowed. Sarah was soaking in the private hot spring, oblivious to everything else!
He stopped in his tracks, standing in the dark room, gazing at the only light outside. The woman's skin was smooth and white, her rounded shoulders glistening with water.
She had been soaking for a while, her face flushed from the steam. Even with only half of her profile visible, he could see her eyes were brighter than the hot spring water.
The sight was a strong visual impact, hard to describe in words. Benjamin's Adam's apple moved uncontrollably, feeling a surge of heat. His eyes seemed to hold a dark vortex, deep and endless.
Since waking from his car accident three months ago, this was the first time Benjamin had such a strong reaction to a woman.
His fiancée, Isabella, always made him uncomfortable when she got close. But now, facing Sarah, what was he feeling?
At that moment, Benjamin felt a bewildering sense of grievance. Why? What magic did Sarah have? It seemed that everything had changed since he met her here.
Frowning, Benjamin suppressed the heat in his heart and took two uncontrollable steps forward.
