Chapter 73 Revenge on the Bad Man

Harper still had to chill at the hospital for a bit. That night, when things were pretty quiet, Michael showed up with Ethan.

When the two arrived at the ward, they found Harper sitting alone at the head of the bed, looking pale and forlorn.

After making sure Antonio wasn't around, Ethan pushed the door open and dashed in, "Harper!"

His little face was all tense and worried.

He rushed to her side and asked, "I heard you hurt your head. Does it hurt a lot?"

"Ethan." Harper's voice was all shaky, and tears started welling up in her big eyes.

Seeing Ethan made her feel a bit better, but she was still super sad.

She really wanted to see Antonio.

Ethan checked her out, and seeing she just had a bandage on her head, he felt a bit better but still heartbroken.

He could tell Harper was really down. Thinking she was still scared, his face got serious too.

"Yeah, I'm here," he said, climbing onto the bed and kneeling beside her. He gently patted her shoulder, "Harper, don't be scared. I'm here. If any bad guys come again, I'll totally smash their heads!"

When he heard Harper got taken by that Lusa and got hurt, he wanted to rush over right away, but Michael stopped him, saying Antonio couldn't know he was there.

So he had to wait until now to come.

Luckily, Harper wasn't seriously hurt, or he would've lost it!

Harper had been holding back her sadness.

But now, with Ethan's comfort, she couldn't hold it in anymore and leaned into him, tears streaming down her face.

Seeing this, Ethan's eyes were filled with almost overflowing heartache.

He held Harper, wiping her tears and soothing her softly.

Michael stood aside, watching the kids huddled together. He felt sorry for Harper but was also deeply moved.

His young, sunny face showed a look of relief, with a touch of envy.

The bond between the siblings was really something!

And with Brian being so capable and Sarah so beautiful, he really wanted to join this family too!

As Michael sighed inwardly, he suddenly remembered something. He took a tissue from the table and handed it to Harper, asking, "Harper, where's your mommy?"

Why wasn't Sarah here?

Harper wiped her tears, sniffled, and said with a thick nasal voice, "Mommy went to buy me something to eat."

Michael nodded, feeling a bit disappointed.

He sighed slightly and then reminded, "Ethan, we can't stay too long. Mr. Valencia could come by any time."

Hearing this, Harper suddenly felt even more upset. The tears she had just managed to stop burst forth again.

Ethan, sensing something was wrong, asked anxiously, "What's wrong? Did the bad dad bully you again?"

Realizing this, Ethan's young face immediately showed anger, ready to confront Antonio right away.

Harper shook her head while crying, but then quickly nodded, sobbing, "No, but I got hurt and hospitalized, and Dad didn't even come to see me!"

Upon hearing this, Ethan crumpled the tissue in his hand into a ball.

His bright eyes instantly showed disappointment, and his young face tightened, lips pressed together, silently gritting his teeth.

He was right; Antonio had hurt Harper again!

Daring to bully his precious sister, he was determined to make Antonio pay for this!

Seeing Ethan's expression, Michael was startled, automatically imagining Ethan unleashing a powerful attack, shrouded in black smoke.

Although he knew Ethan was different from ordinary kids, this expression and aura were too terrifying.

After making up his mind, Ethan didn't stay long and pulled Michael away.

Seeing Ethan leaving in a hurry, Michael couldn't help but ask, "Ethan, what are you gonna do?"

"To get back at that bad man!" Ethan's small face was grim.

Michael felt a chill all over, realizing something was wrong, and quickly followed.

The sky had completely darkened, and the cold parking lot was even dimmer, with the overhead lights flickering, making it super creepy.

Antonio's sedan drove into the parking lot.

As soon as the car pulled up, a masked dude popped out from behind a nearby van, crouched low, and made a beeline for Antonio's sedan.

The masked guy quickly opened the car door, tossed something inside, and shut it in one smooth move.

But his hands were shaking like crazy from nerves.

Yep, it was Michael.

He watched as smoke quickly filled the car.

In just a few seconds, the guy in the driver's seat, all decked out in a black suit, was out cold.

Ethan, who'd been lurking nearby, stepped up and handed a burlap sack to Michael.

Michael nodded, opened the car door, slapped the sack over the guy's head, and dragged him into the van.

Just as the van took off, another dude in a black suit showed up at the parking lot.

From a distance, Antonio saw his car was empty and got super suspicious.

He pulled out his phone to call James, but no answer.

Antonio's brows furrowed, eyes filled with both annoyance and a bit of worry.

What the heck was going on?

James would never just vanish like this, and the car wasn't even locked, meaning he left in a hurry.

Could it be an emergency?

Or maybe, an accident?

Antonio couldn't even imagine that James had just been snatched by Ethan!

And even crazier, Ethan's original target was actually Antonio!

The van drove down a small road and finally stopped in a sketchy alley.

Michael roughly dragged the burlap-sacked, tightly bound James out of the van and tossed him into the corner.

Ethan jumped out too and eagerly kicked James.

Finally, the day had come!

He'd been itching to get back at Antonio!

'Messing with Sarah isn't enough; now you're messing with Harper too!' he thought.

But it was Ethan's first time hitting someone, and he didn't know where to hit, so he just kicked James' butt a bunch of times.

The smoke bomb must've been strong, 'cause James stayed out cold despite all the kicking.

Ethan got tired of it and, without looking, stretched out his hand to the side and spoke in his familiar devilish tone, "Michael, bring me my stuff!"

Michael hesitated, "Ethan, are you sure?"

A little payback was fine, but this was Antonio, the most untouchable guy in the city. If they really hurt him, it would be a big deal!

"Coward!" The devilish voice, mixed with Ethan's anger, sounded even more chilling in the dark alley.

Ethan opened the trunk, picked a baseball bat from a pile of tools, and marched menacingly towards the unconscious James.

Michael was freaking out. He liked Ethan and his family, but this was his second kidnapping, and this time it was Antonio. He was scared!

Michael tried to stop him, "Ethan, maybe you should rethink this."

"Get out of my way, don't stop me!" Ethan was dead set. As he spoke, he swung the bat, a cold glint in his eyes.

He was definitely gonna teach Antonio a lesson today!

His mechanical skeleton still needed work and would mess with his performance, so he didn't wear it today.

Michael, afraid of getting hit, quickly stepped aside and watched as the bat landed heavily on James' butt.

Michael's heart sank. Looking up at the cloud-covered moon, he silently prayed, 'Please, just a couple of hits, don't really hurt Antonio!'

If they hurt him, they wouldn't be able to handle the fallout!

Just as he was about to step in, the bat landed heavily on James' butt again.

This time, James suddenly screamed.

The scream made the bat stop mid-air.

For a moment, the only sound in the alley was James' wailing. "It hurts! My butt."

James wailed and squirmed on the ground in pain.

Ethan and Michael, however, stood frozen. They looked at each other and saw their own shock reflected in the other's eyes.

They had gotten the wrong guy!

This wasn't Antonio; it was his assistant James!

They never expected things to go this way.

The person they really wanted to catch was nearby.

In the alley, Ethan and Michael were still figuring out what to do with James when suddenly, two black-suited bodyguards appeared at the alley's entrance.

"Damn!" Ethan was shocked, immediately realizing that Antonio's men had arrived!
