Chapter 763 Retaliating One by One
The next second, Carter was hit with a wave of fear, her breath catching in her throat.
When Carol and Cynthia got back, they saw the room door wide open and no one inside!
"It must be Harold!"
"He must've taken Carter!"
Carol was shaking with anger, "How could that jerk Harold be so bold?"
Cynthia was freaking out too, "What do we do now?"
"We'll figure something out."
Carol said, "If we saved Carter once, we can do it again. There's gotta be a way!"
But before they could come up with a plan, both she and Cynthia ran into trouble, and even Kevin's company got turned down by a potential partner.
"Why are we so unlucky lately? Everything's going wrong!"
Kevin tried to calm her down, "It's okay, things will get better soon."
Carol nodded, "Cynthia got grazed by a car and is still in the hospital. She's supposed to be discharged today, so I'll go pick her up."
She had almost been hit by a car before, but nothing happened. Unexpectedly, Cynthia got hit by a car instead.
However, when she went downstairs, Carol found someone smashing her car in broad daylight!
She yelled, "Stop! If you don't stop, I'll call the cops!"
She was shaking with anger, pulling out her phone to call the police.
At that moment, the person smashing the car stopped, and she heard the sound of a car door closing behind her, followed by footsteps getting closer and stopping behind her. Then a sinister voice reached her ears.
"Hello, Ms. Miller."
Hearing that, Carol shivered, almost dropping her phone.
"No need to call the cops. I had your car smashed. Just name your price."
Harold's smile was full of amusement, like a beast that had caught its prey and was fascinated by its resistance.
Carol instinctively stepped back, "What... what do you want?"
"What do I want?" Harold's expression looked puzzled, "Ms. Miller, don't you think this question is strange? You took my wife away and expect me to do nothing?"
Not only that!
He also lost three fingers!
Everything that happened to him was because of Carol!
Harold wanted to kill Carol!
But he wasn't in a hurry. Killing her right away would be no fun. He wanted to torment her bit by bit as he had plenty of time.
Seeing the increasingly fierce expression in his eyes, Carol felt her fear grow heavier. She looked around and said, "If you really like Carter, you should set her free! If she willingly stays with you, I won't stop her! On the contrary, I would bless you both!"
"Bless?" Harold laughed, "Do you think I need your blessing?"
He continued, "Ms. Miller, you seem to be living quite well. Your husband must love you a lot, right? In that case," he grabbed Carol's wrist, forcing her to look at him, continuing, "In that case, you should leave him, go far away! Never appear again! Otherwise, I'll make Kevin die!"
Then he added, sneering, "Do you know how Carter's ex-boyfriend died?"
Listening to his chilling voice, Carol felt that Harold was truly insane!
But she knew Harold meant it. Carter had said that her ex-boyfriend was killed by Harold!
Seeing her expression, Harold knew she understood, and his smile grew wider. He continued, "Otherwise, I'll make Kevin die as miserably as he did!"
After saying this, he left, leaving Carol standing there in a daze. She tried hard to ignore Harold's words, but she knew too well that Harold was a total psycho!
If he really did something to hurt Kevin, Carol couldn't even bear to think about that.
She had thought about seeking help from her family, but Carol had cut off contact with them. Besides, knowing her family's nature, they would probably be eager to send her away.
Thinking of this, Carol resigned herself to fate.
She loved Kevin, but given Harold's nature, she couldn't just watch Kevin get hurt.
So Carol decided to leave temporarily. She left Kevin and married someone else to hide her identity.
She planned to return quietly to find Kevin once things calmed down.
At that time, little Sarah was already in her womb.
After settling down, she contacted Cynthia.
"Cynthia, you should leave Marshall City, and don't provoke Harold anymore. As for Carter, Harold won't harm her for now. We'll rescue her when we have the means."
Cynthia was still confused, "Why?"
Carol replied, "Because Harold is a psychopath!"
Carol got very emotional when she mentioned him, "He will retaliate against everyone! You must leave! Be careful!"
"Carol, Kevin has been looking for you everywhere. Are you really not coming back?" Cynthia felt very sad, "No matter how capable Harold is, he can't always..."
Carol interrupted her, "Don't worry about that."
Carol missed Kevin too, but she couldn't go back.
She closed her eyes in pain, stating, "Just listen to me, move to another city, and never see Harold again."
Hearing the seriousness in her voice, Cynthia agreed, "Okay."
Soon, she left Marshall City.
They thought this matter would gradually settle down.
But they didn't expect that Carter, who returned to Harold, her emotions would become so extreme, even to the point of being uncontrollable.
She committed suicide when Benjamin was only four months old.
Carter originally wanted to die with Benjamin, but after hesitating for a long time, she left him behind.
When Harold received the news and rushed over, Benjamin, who was placed on the bridge, had already been taken away. The ripples in the water below indicated that someone had recently disappeared from there.
Carter's body was retrieved, and Harold went completely mad. He didn't even think about looking for the stolen Benjamin, holding Carter's body for three days and nights until the faint smell of decay made him let go.
It was all because of Carol and Cynthia!
If it weren't for them, Carter would be with him now! How could she have committed suicide?
Harold hadn't slept for days, his eyes bloodshot, with only one thought in his mind. He wanted revenge! He wanted to destroy everything Carol and Cynthia had!
But he turned Marshall City upside down and couldn't find them!
Then he suddenly realized Carol had already run away.
Harold remembered, he had told her that if she had the guts, she should never appear again, or he would make her life a living hell!
Although he didn't find Carol, Harold found another accomplice who helped Carter escape, Cynthia.
Coincidentally, she was Carol's cousin.
Harold decided to let Cynthia bear the pain for Carol!
"Tell me! Where is Carol?"
Cynthia had been beaten to the point where she couldn't speak, only able to protect her belly as she was pregnant and shake her head.
