Chapter 555 Why Are You Crying

The thought of him caused Sarah's heart to skip a beat. However, the immediate concern was the fabric at hand.

She thought... maybe it was worth a try.

"Since that's the case let's give the Harrington Group a shot first. Get everything ready," she instructed James.

Just as she spoke, her phone rang from her bag. She waved a hand. "Go ahead, I'll take this."

James nodded and left as Sarah pulled out her phone and glanced at the caller ID.

'Ethan?'

She swiped the screen to answer, "Honey, what's up?"

"Mommy... I want to host an exhibition race at the CL Racetrack. Is that okay?"

"An exhibition race?" Sarah sounded puzzled. She hadn't heard Ethan talk about such an idea before, "Have you thought through the details?"

"Mm-hmm!" Ethan replied with a firm and excited voice, "I already have a detailed plan, and as soon as Mommy agrees, we can get started!"

"That's great, as long as you've thought it through," his mother reassured.

Originally, Antonio had bought the CL Racetrack. When the accident happened, Sarah had no will to manage it. Ethan was growing up day by day, and Sarah decided to let her son take over the track, to learn and try managing it with the help of Brian.

This was the first time in months that Ethan had brought up doing something at the racetrack.

Sarah certainly wouldn't oppose such an idea; in fact, she was happy that her child had his own ambitions. "Whatever you need help with, just tell me, and I’ll help you," she offered warmly.

"Okay, thanks, Mommy!" Ethan gratefully responded. "Now you go back to work; I won't bother you anymore!"

After hanging up the phone, he turned to his siblings, who were looking at him with eager eyes, and exclaimed, "Mommy agreed!"

The three kids cheered in unison, "Yay! We can put our plan into action!"

"Daddy will be back with us soon!"

After their lively celebration, the siblings started discussing the details of their plan, going over each aspect meticulously.

Ethan looked at Ryan and said, "Bro, the tough and important task of keeping watch is all yours!"

Harper didn't quite catch on. "Why's that?"

Ryan gently scraped the tip of Harper's nose with affection and explained, "Because last night, when Daddy came, I was already asleep. He doesn't recognize me."

Harper's eyes widened in realization, "Oh, right!"

They confirmed their plan and got straight to work.

Ryan adorned himself in tattered clothes and, at the urging of his younger siblings, applied a layer of dirt to his face.

He waited patiently until a group of individuals in suits emerged from the big building. His heart raced as he focused intently on the man in the middle.

It was really his dad!

Ryan was thrilled. It had been too long since he had seen his father.

But then he remembered what his siblings had told him about their dad's amnesia. He realized he couldn't just approach and recognize him—his father wouldn't know him...

Ryan clenched his fists, silently encouraging himself, 'Soon!'

Once their plan worked and their dad remembered everything, they could finally be reunited as a family.

Ryan stood there, caught between tears and laughter until he finally raised his hand and wiped his nose, getting rid of the sour feeling.

At the entrance of the building, Benjamin had reached the car. His assistant respectfully opened the door, and he stepped in with a long stride.

Seeing this, Ryan quickly hopped into a taxi by the roadside.

His mission for today was to establish a connection with his dad!

Wherever his dad went, he would follow!

Benjamin had an important client meeting scheduled today and, in a show of sincerity, he took it upon himself to visit the prospective partner's company in person to talk business.

Fortunately, the two parties had already agreed on the terms of their collaboration, and the contract signing went smoothly.

It wasn't long before the client escorted them down to the lobby and shook hands with Benjamin at the door to say goodbye.

"Mr. Harrington, please wait here," said his assistant. "I'll bring the car around."

Benjamin nodded and stood still, waiting.

Daniel jogged off towards the parking lot and soon disappeared from sight.

As Benjamin's gaze casually swept over the surrounding area, something unexpected caught his eye—a small, huddled figure on the ground. It was a boy.

From where Benjamin stood, the child's eyes were tightly shut, his complexion pale, and his wrinkled clothes were streaked with dust as if he were a homeless waif who had fainted at the roadside.

Benjamin, typically one to keep to himself, averted his gaze. However, the sight of the small, motionless figure caught his attention from the corner of his eye. The boy appeared as forlorn as a homeless puppy, uncertain whether he was alive or dead, stirring Benjamin's empathy.

With a faint sigh, Benjamin ultimately decided to step forward.

Ryan, aiming to deceive Benjamin, had deliberately made himself look like a little beggar, believing that anyone who saw him would feel compassion. He thought his act was quite successful today!

Hearing the footsteps approaching, Ryan mustered his emotions and kept his eyes shut tight.

Benjamin reached the boy and crouched down. His gaze was solemn, unable to comprehend why this young child lay so pitifully alone here.

After a moment of hesitation, he reached out his hand.

Benjamin was a tall man, and next to him, Ryan seemed as diminutive as a chick, easily lifted into his arms.

The dust from Ryan's body inevitably clung to Benjamin's dark trousers. Benjamin glanced at it and just frowned slightly.

Had he not come over, he wouldn't have felt anything. But now, faced with the boy's plight, Benjamin found himself unexpectedly moved.

"Kid?" His voice carried a hint of chill, yet it filled Ryan with excitement.

It had been too long since he had heard his father's voice! Even though his father sounded a bit hoarse now, it was still very soothing to him!

Benjamin looked at the child in his arms who had not reacted, and extended a hand to check Ryan's breath.

It was steady; the boy wasn't in any mortal danger.

Just as Benjamin was preparing to dial 911 during this gap, the boy in his arms suddenly made a whimpering sound and slowly opened his eyes, heavily laden with exhaustion.

Ryan sneaked a glance at him, and there was no need to pretend. The yearning in his heart began to surge wildly, and the tears he'd been holding back finally broke free as he started to cry loudly.

It had been several months, and Antonio was finally back!

Although Ryan had been consoling his mom and had never expressed his longing for his dad in front of the family, he missed him every day!

Today, seeing him at last, he took the opportunity to let it all out.

Benjamin squinted slightly, seemingly inexperienced in dealing with a child's tears.

In his imagination, confronted with this situation, he would certainly try to get away as quickly as possible, irritated.

However, at the moment, he awkwardly attempted a smile and asked, "What's wrong, why are you crying?"
