Chapter 460 The Culprit

Serene sobbed, drawing an even larger crowd.

As Sarah geared up to continue, a passing nurse intervened, "Ms. Miller, please, stay calm. Ms. Jerrett can't even stand on her own, let alone make it to the rooftop. And remember, this is a hospital. Your brother is still in surgery right now."

"Sarah, there's no point for me in lying to you. I don't understand why you'd suspect me, but if you truly think I had something to do with your brother's fall, feel free to have the police investigate. My conscience is clear."

Serene sniffled, her eyes retaining their softness as they met Sarah's, making it nearly unbearable to accuse her. Serene wished she could have kept her meeting with Brady a secret, but in a hospital full of prying eyes, their conversation had undoubtedly been noticed by someone.

She just happened to be eavesdropping nearby and caught the moment when Kevin's nurse pointed out the matter.

Serene thought, 'Why not just admit that I know Brady? After all, the most believable lies always have a grain of truth in them.'

"Please quickly take Ms. Jerrett back to her room. Ms. Miller, take a moment to calm down as well."

As the nurse spoke, Antonio hurried over.

"Sarah! How is Brady?!"

At the sight of Antonio, Sarah finally couldn't hold it together any longer! The suppressed pain, despair, and grievance erupted violently in that instant!

"Antonio! Brady... He fell from the building right in front of me… He was right there... covered in blood..."

Sarah clung to Antonio, devoid of strength and relying on him to remain upright.

Antonio's heart ached for her. "Sarah, it's going to be alright. Trust me, Brady will be fine. I'll find the best doctors in the world to save him. He needs to wake up and see you. Remember, I'm here with you, and so are the kids. You can't fall apart, okay?"

Sarah wept uncontrollably, unable to find her voice amid the tears. Meanwhile, witnessing the couple's affectionate display, Serene silently slipped away. Anything more she said would be useless at this moment.

Antonio's concern was solely focused on Sarah; he didn't even notice when Serene left. He eased Sarah into a chair, comforting her over and over.

Other than crying, Sarah was incapable of anything else and soon collapsed, exhausted, into Antonio’s arms.

"Sarah!" he exclaimed, hastily carrying her to a room.

"Mr. Valencia, please try not to worry too much," the doctor reassured him. "Ms. Miller's physical health isn't severely impacted. She's primarily experiencing emotional distress. What she needs most right now is rest, and she'll likely be fine. Currently, there's no new information from the operating room, but I'll promptly update you as soon as there's any news."

"Please, do whatever it takes. Use any necessary medication and consult any specialist needed to ensure my brother-in-law's safety."

Antonio held Sarah's hand, understanding her completely. If anything truly happened to Brady... She would be devastated.

Antonio had no idea why Brady had fallen from the building.

Earlier, when Sarah called him, she was extremely agitated. She had just had a confrontation with Serene as well. At that moment, Antonio didn't know what to do; he could only sit beside her and offer his support.

Suddenly, Sarah woke up with a start, sweat beads covering her forehead, her expression filled with unease.

"Sarah, don't be scared, I'm right here. I'm with you."

Antonio quickly embraced her, soothing her emotions.

Clutching Antonio's collar, Sarah looked agitated. "Antonio, my brother couldn’t commit suicide! He really couldn’t have!"

"I know, I know," he reassured her. "I will investigate everything thoroughly. You need to take care of yourself now, okay? Leave these matters to me."

"Antonio, please, hear me out. My brother inexplicably befriended Serene, and it just doesn't sit right with me. There's something suspicious going on here. You have to seek justice for my brother! I'm convinced Serene is involved!"

Antonio felt immense pity for her as he gently held her in his arms, "Don't worry, Sarah. I won't let anyone get away with this. I will seek justice for Brady, trust me, okay?"

Sarah nodded silently, relying on Antonio more than ever. Her condition remained unstable, with periods of wakefulness followed by swift returns to sleep. Her rest was anything but peaceful; plagued by nightmares, she would sometimes call out for Brady, and other times for Serene.

Antonio stayed by her side the whole time, also keeping an eye on the operating room. His face showed no signs of fatigue, only concern.

He pondered whether Sarah's emotions were heightened or if Serene was truly problematic. Yet, why would Serene harbor ill intentions toward Brady? It seemed inconceivable for those two to be at odds.
