Chapter 712 Get Out with Your Darling

"Sir?"

"Zip it!" Antonio snapped at the receptionist. Realizing he was being a jerk, he softened up and said, "Sorry, but can you give me a sec? Thanks!"

The receptionist pressed her lips together, signaling she wouldn't say another word.

Just as he was about to launch a city-wide search, the phone finally connected, and he almost lost it when he heard Sarah's voice on the other end.

Sarah hadn't planned on going MIA.

Once she cooled down, she knew Antonio would freak out if he couldn't find her. Not wanting to make things worse, she turned on her phone and picked up the call.

When the call connected, Antonio froze, totally speechless.

"If you don't talk, I'm hanging up," Sarah said, clearly annoyed.

Antonio quickly blurted out, "No! Don't hang up!"

He was legit on the edge of panic as he asked, "Sarah, where'd you go? Why didn't you come to the hotel first?"

"I don't wanna stay there." Sarah didn't give any more details and just told him where she was. "I'm fine, staying here now. Bye."

She hung up right after that.

Antonio frowned at his phone, then bolted out to grab a cab.

Twenty minutes later, he was knocking on Sarah's door.

Sarah had just finished changing and took her sweet time opening the door. Seeing him, she wasn't surprised and didn't show any extra emotion. She just asked, "What are you doing here?"

Antonio walked in and shut the door, his fingers still shaking from earlier.

"Sarah, why didn't you tell me you were switching hotels?" he asked, worried.

"What's there to say?" Sarah plopped down on the couch, continuing, "Don't you have your own stuff to deal with? We can go our separate ways."

Her voice was so cold it felt like they were strangers again.

Confused, Antonio asked, "Separate ways? Do you know how worried I was? What if something happened?"

With Harold's goons lurking around, if Harold found Sarah, it would be a disaster!

Antonio's heart had been in his throat since earlier, terrified of losing her. He was still in a funk, and his tone was heavy without him even realizing it.

Sarah, on the other hand, found his anger amusing.

Worried?

He'd been messing around with another woman behind her back, and now he had the nerve to act all concerned?

"In what capacity is Mr. Harrington worried about me?" She asked, her lips curling into a mocking smile. "You're just a lover. Aren't you taking yourself too seriously?"

"Sarah!" Antonio's face was serious and helpless. "Can you stop making a fuss? You're not familiar with this place. What if someone tries to hurt you?"

Hearing that, Sarah's eyes flared up with anger, and she yelled, "So what if someone tries to hurt me? If something really happens, wouldn't it be perfect? I could go find my dead husband! He might even be happy to see me!"

Her angry words hit Antonio like a punch to the gut.

He glanced at Sarah's swollen belly, feeling his heart break.

"You—" He choked up a bit and continued, "Your husband wouldn't want to see you like this, not giving a damn about your own safety!"

"And how do you know?" Sarah sneered. "You're not him, so don't act like you know everything. You know nothing!"

The more she spoke, the more riled up she got, even pushing Antonio towards the door.

She shouted, "Don't stay in my room! Don't think that just because you have the same face as him, you can boss me around! You're not him, and you never will be!"

Seeing her stubbornness, Antonio felt both heartache and frustration. He was genuinely worried about her!

The reason he had been holding back from revealing his identity was exactly to protect her.

What if Harold found out?

What if he wasn't by her side?

What if...

Antonio didn't dare to think further. The more he thought, the more uncertain he felt.

His emotions were pushed to the limit, and under Sarah's relentless pressure, he finally couldn't hold back and blurted out, "I am!"

Sarah suddenly stopped in her tracks.

Even her action of pushing him out the door seemed to freeze.

'What did he just say?'

'He is?'

'He admitted it.'

Sarah slowly raised her head, meeting Antonio's deep eyes. They stared at each other in long silence.

Antonio's heart raced; he hadn't expected to blurt it out in a moment of impulse.

After a brief moment of regret, he felt relieved. He had finally said it, and he wouldn't have to lie to Sarah anymore.

Sarah stared at him for a long time, as if trying to see through him.

Her eyes flickered slightly, and she said, "Don't joke around. I don't believe you."

She turned and sat back on the couch, interrogating, "If you're really him, why are you only saying it now? Got any proof?"

Antonio was speechless for a moment. What proof? His presence was the best proof.

He walked over and sat next to Sarah, trying to explain, "Sarah, I—"

Just as he started to speak, his phone suddenly rang in his pocket.

Instinctively, he took it out and looked.

It was Margaret.

The screen displayed: [Darling, I'm so happy to see you again. I hope you remember everything between us. I miss those times...]

Sarah saw it too and didn't care about the rest of the message.

She let out a cold laugh and said, "Mr. Harrington sure has a lot of darlings. They're all over the world."

Hearing her sarcasm, Antonio was in agony as he uttered, helplessly, "Sarah."

"Get out!" Sarah didn't want to hear his nonsense. "Go find your darling! Get out!"
