Chapter 281 Reluctant Separation
Sarah felt a bit embarrassed. "The child is innocent. He... lacks affection."
Antonio understood Sarah's concern and explained why he didn't bring Ryan out.
"Don't worry, Sarah. I won't neglect Ryan's feelings. We have his measurements, so just take the clothes back home. I didn't let him come mainly because it's quite far from here, and it's hot right now. Ryan isn't suitable to endure such a long car ride."
Ryan had a heart condition, and sometimes, the rising temperature made him feel uncomfortable.
Only now did Sarah feel relieved. "That's good. We'll wait for you to come back."
"Alright."
Harper, who was standing beside Antonio, hurried over when he ended the call. "Daddy, is this one okay?"
Actually, Antonio didn't bring the children here just to measure their height and weight. The main purpose was to prepare a surprise for Sarah.
"It's perfect. My daughter is amazing." Antonio squatted down and patted Harper's head. "Do you remember everything from today's rehearsal?"
"I remember everything. My brother and I are smart!" Harper raised her little face proudly.
Antonio breathed a sigh of relief and waited for the birthday celebration.
The next morning…
Ryan, dressed in custom-made clothes, came and knocked on the door, holding a dress bag in his hand. "Good morning, Sarah. This is what Daddy asked me to give you."
Sarah was still a bit surprised. What was Antonio planning this time, being so mysterious?
When she opened the dress bag, she saw a pure white fishtail gown, handcrafted and embroidered with star-like patterns. Each bead and petal were three-dimensional, meticulously sewn by hand.
This dress was unique, one of a kind in the world.
Sarah was touched. Today was supposed to be the children's birthday, so why did she end up being this grandly prepared for?
"Sarah, change your clothes quickly. We still have to go to the venue."
Ryan smiled shyly and walked away.
Only then did Sarah realize that Harper and Ethan seemed to be not at home.
After changing her clothes, Sarah walked out of the room and found that the house had been carefully decorated. Star-like flower branches were tied to the handrails of the spiral staircase. Following the flower path, a red carpet appeared on the floor.
Ryan was at the front door. "Sarah, let's go."
Following Ryan, Sarah discovered that the red carpet extended all the way to the banquet hall area behind the villa.
Sarah held Ryan's hand and walked along the red carpet. What appeared before her eyes was an arch made of countless star-like flowers.
The doors to the banquet hall slowly swung open, revealing Antonio clad in a pristine white suit. He emerged, clutching a sizable bouquet of star-shaped flowers.
"Sarah, you brought miracles to life five years ago today." Antonio walked over, knelt down on one knee, and presented Sarah the bouquet of star-like flowers. The pigeon egg in the sunlight shimmered with dazzling colors.
The moment Sarah received the bouquet, Ethan and Harper descended from the sky. They were dressed in angelic outfits, each holding a bouquet of stars.
"Thank you, Mommy, for your hard work over the past five years," said Ethan.
Sarah's eyes immediately reddened, and she kissed both children on their faces, saying, "Happy birthday, my darlings."
"Thank you, Mommy. Mommy should be happy, too," Harper replied.
Ethan and Harper embraced Sarah, and petals started to fall from the sky, adding to the already heartwarming scene.
"Antonio, thank you," Sarah said.
Antonio kissed her lips in front of everyone. "Silly, why are you thanking me?"
Ethan felt a little uncomfortable witnessing their inseparable bond as their eyes locked, filled with tenderness.
Why did he have to steal the spotlight? He and Harper had worked just as hard.
While Ethan had these thoughts, he was happy to see Antonio caring much for Sarah.
"Ethan, look! This is the gift Daddy gave me," Harper ran over, holding an exquisite box with a priceless diamond necklace inside.
Ethan had seen it online before—there were only ten of these diamond necklaces in the world, and one was in the possession of a queen in a certain country.
Harper loved the necklace dearly and couldn't bear to wear it.
Ethan made a face and said, "You girls just like these useless things. I don't think it looks that great."
"Ethan, you are a boy.f Of course you wouldn't understand. You'll know when you grow up and have to give gifts to your girlfriend. Don't forget to ask Daddy," Harper winked at Ethan. She knew her brother's thoughts well.
It wasn't that he didn't like it; he just wondered why he didn't receive a gift himself.
Ethan didn't respond. He received gifts like this every year, and besides, Sarah and Brian had already gave him something.
'Who cares about his gift anyway? Well, I don't like it,' Ethan silently thought.
Just then, a roar echoed through the sky, and everyone looked up in surprise—it was a helicopter!
Ethan's eyes widened because it was the exact color and model of the helicopter he loved.
'Could it be…'
Antonio squatted beside Ethan and smiled at him. "Ethan, Daddy didn't know what to give you, but since you mentioned liking helicopters, I decided to give you one,"
"It's mine?!" Ethan could hardly believe it; it truly was his!
Antonio nodded. "Yes, it's exclusively yours. Do you like it?"
Ethan turned his head and looked at Antonio, who was indulging him. "It's alright, there's not really anywhere I can use it."
Although he said that, Ethan's gaze didn't leave the helicopter for a moment.
Seeing Ethan and Harper being showered with such love, Sarah felt guilty for Brian, who was far away in another country.
'I wonder what ihe is doing now…'
"Sarah?"
Just as Antonio was about to call Sarah to cut the cake, he saw her sitting there absentmindedly.
He thought he might have done something wrong and instantly became a little nervous.
"Sarah, we—"
Before he could finish saying the words "cut the cake," someone interrupted, "Excuse me, is Miss Sarah here?"
Antonio turned his head and immediately furrowed his eyebrows.
