After hanging up, Sarah walked out of the room and happened to see Ryan sitting in the living room, quietly playing with blocks.
Ethan and Harper had gone with Antonio to try on clothes. Since it was not Ryan's birthday, he naturally wouldn't go along.

"Ryan, why are you alone here? Didn't you go out with Harper and Ethan?" Sarah walked over and sat down next to Ryan.
Ryan pursed his lips. "It's not my birthday. Daddy didn't let me go."
After saying that, he was afraid Sarah would think too much, so he quickly forced out a smile. "I'll just wait for them to come back. Harper said she would bring me some delicious candied chestnuts."
Sarah knew Ryan was sensible but didn't expect him to be this mature. Was this smile trying to please her?
"That doesn't sound right. I recall your dad mentioning yesterday that he'd take all three of you together. Let me check if we're supposed to wear matching outfits as a family." Sarah gently touched Ryan's head, contemplating giving Antonio a call to confirm.
Unexpectedly, Ryan grabbed her hand, hesitated for a moment, and looked at her with uncertainty.
"What's wrong?" Sarah asked in surprise.
After hesitating for a long time, Ryan asked in a low voice, "You said we're family, so... can I call you Mommy?"
After asking, Ryan quickly withdrew his hand, clearly regretting his impulsiveness, "I was just asking casually, don't mind. Thank you. It's okay if I don't wear matching outfits. It's not my birthday anyway."
Knowing Ryan had never experienced a mother's love, Sarah felt even more heartbroken. Warmth seemed impossible for him to feel. He must have pondered this question for a long time.
Sarah had always believed that Ryan was Antonio's illegitimate child, which colored her perceptions of him. Consequently, Ryan was extra cautious around her, fearing she might kick him out.

After a while, she replied, "Ryan, if you want to call me Mommy, I'll be very happy."
Sarah touched Ryan's head, "But I am also Ethan and Harper's Mommy, so I have to consider whether they are willing or not. So, wait for me to ask them, okay?"
A flash of joy crossed Ryan's face, and he quickly asked, "If my younger siblings don't agree, can I secretly call you in my heart? I don't want to make them unhappy."
Sarah's heart softened at the sight of this poor child. "Well then, you can call them in your heart, and I won't mind."
Later, Antonio received a call from Sarah and was given a good scolding. "How could you not bring Ryan along?! He's a sensitive child, and these days, our attention has been focused on Harper and Ethan. It's making Ryan feel uncomfortable."
Faced with Sarah's scolding, Antonio was somewhat surprised. "I was just afraid that you would mind..."
Sarah was speechless. "If we're talking about it, it was you who kept it from me back then, and you were the one at fault, right? I didn't even bother you about it, and you still use it as an excuse. Are you trying to argue?"
Antonio quickly apologized and finally said, "Sarah, thank you."
