Chapter 245 How is Antonio?!

The individuals below immediately grasped his intent, nodding in agreement as the butler escorted Ryan away.

After the butler left, Harper and Ethan could still hear footsteps above their heads, causing both of them to feel nervous with every breath they took.

Suddenly, Harper recalled her bow tie, which could contact someone, but despair washed over her as she realized she didn't have it with her.

As the night wore on and the cellar grew quiet, sleep eluded Harper. Seizing an opportunity while Ethan was distracted, she quietly slipped away on her own.

She had to find the bow tie—only then could she contact someone!

Summoning courage, she sneaked back to the villa, feeling her way through the darkness, careful and cautious, until she found her own room upstairs.

She searched around and just as she discovered the bow tie she had placed under her pillow and reached out to grab it, she suddenly heard the sound of footsteps approaching.

Harper grabbed the bow tie and clenched her teeth, swiftly rolling under the bed.

A split second later, the door swung open, revealing two sets of legs stepping onto the floor, while Harper remained concealed beneath the bed.

"Mr. Valencia Sr. is truly merciless, wanting to dispose of two children as well—"

Another person quickly covered his mouth and whispered, "Don't say such things! All we need to do is catch those two children. We know nothing about the rest."

With the reminder, the other person instantly reacted, "Yes, yes. But it's still so cruel, they are just children."

"What can we do? We are just doing this for the money. Besides, where can two children run to? We've searched the entire villa."

"Well, let's go check elsewhere..."

As the voices faded into silence, Harper's terror surged. Her eyes widened, sweat tracing a chilling path down her body. These people intended to kill her and Ethan!

They were so evil!

Confirming that the two had completely left, Harper finally let out a sigh of relief. She quickly put the bow tie in her bag and crawled out from under the bed.

Then, in a fluster, she sneaked past the patrols and returned to the cellar.

Once she got back, she immediately told Ethan about what she overheard in the villa.

Ethan was furious; they were actually planning to kill them!

Furrowing his brow, he pondered deeply. Neither of them knew anyone in this unfamiliar city, so even reaching out to Briaj wouldn't solve their immediate problem.

Who else could help them...

After pondering for a while, Ethan suddenly widened his eyes, remembering someone—Michael!

...

Sarah felt her eyelids particularly heavy, as if invisible hands were pressing down heavily on them, plunging her into a terrifying darkness.

Then, a figure suddenly appeared in the darkness—Antonio.

She wanted to call out to Antonio, but suddenly a gunshot rang out, causing him to fall.

Panicked, she attempted to rush to him. However, at that moment, the ground violently shook, splitting apart, and Antonio's body plunged into the abyss.

"Survive, Sarah!"

She heard Antonio's final words.

"No, no! Don't!"

She woke up suddenly!

The glaring daylight pierced her eyes. Sarah shielded them with her hand for a moment. Once she adjusted, she realized she was in an unfamiliar wooden cabin. Sitting beside her was a tanned and simple young man.

Seeing her wake up, he quickly showed concern and said, "You're awake! Hello, I'm Richard. I saved you. Are you feeling okay?"

Sarah shook her head. Her head was actually a little dizzy, but her anxiety didn't allow her to pay attention to that. She looked around and realized that Antonio was not there. She anxiously grabbed the young man next to her.

"What happened to the man I was with? How is he?"

She looked extremely worried, with her beautiful eyebrows lightly furrowed.

Despite just awakening from illness, her eyes remained so beautiful that Richard couldn't help but gulp unconsciously.

"He's seriously injured and hasn't woken up yet. You should rest for now, until..."

He hadn't finished speaking when Sarah heard that Antonio was seriously injured. Immediately, she sat up in a rush.

"Can you take me to see him, please?" she pleaded, grabbing Richard's arm.

Richard saw how worried she was and quickly explained to calm her down, "He's fine! He's in the next room. Although our fishing village is isolated, we still have a retired military doctor who has seen the battlefield. The doctor saved him, so he will be alright with the doctor around."
Upon hearing that Antonio had been rescued, Sarah sighed in relief but her nose tingled with sadness, and her eyes welled up with grief.

Just thinking about how they had fallen off the cliff together, and how he had protected her no matter what, made her heart ache.

At that moment, she finally felt it completely—he had long been in love with her, to the very core.

Otherwise, why would he protect her until the end, even at the cost of his own life?

Her back slumped, and sadness engulfed her, making anyone who looked at her feel a pang of heartache.

Out of his instinct as a man, Richard couldn't help but feel that the man who was washed ashore with her had a close relationship with her.

He initially wanted to hold back from asking, but the more he resisted, the more he couldn't contain himself. So, he tentatively asked, "May I ask who he is to you?"

Sarah raised her head, cautiously locking eyes with Richard, and fell into silence.

She didn't know where she was right now, and she wondered if this young man who called himself Richard was involved with the person who had tried to assassinate her.
