Chapter 24 Which One is His Illegitimate Son?
Sarah's eyes went wide as she watched him come closer. Then she felt that familiar warmth on her lips, but this time, he was all intense and bossy.
She couldn't figure out what was up with her; she didn't shove him away. But soon enough, she knew something was off and told herself to keep it together!
Maybe 'cause she wasn't fighting back, Antonio let go of her hands, wrapped his arms around her slim waist, and pulled her in tight.
Sarah wanted to slap him but held back. After all, she was the one who snuck into his room tonight.
She shoved Antonio hard, catching him off guard. As he stumbled back, he felt emptiness in his arms and a strange void in his chest.
Sarah quickly put some space between them. Her cheeks were a bit red, and her lips were kinda swollen, but her words were ice-cold, "Mr. Valencia, listen up: you're barking up the wrong tree. Get it together!"
Trying to calm her racing heart, she wiped her lips with the back of her hand. "I just came in to clean, but it looks pretty tidy here. I'm out. Later!"
With that, she bolted from the room.
The door slammed shut, snapping Antonio back to reality. He stared at the door, his eyes darkening as he slowly got his cool back.
She was lying. Did she really think she could get away with such a lame excuse?
Whatever, he had plenty of time to figure out what she was really up to.
The next afternoon, Antonio wasn't home, which made Sarah feel way more relaxed. She planned to use his absence to search the place thoroughly.
But things didn't go as smoothly as she hoped. Antonio left, but an unexpected guest showed up.
A flashy red luxury car pulled up outside the villa, and out stepped the over-the-top dressed Lisa.
Even though it was a gloomy day, she wore oversized black sunglasses, heavy makeup, a striking red dress, and high heels as she strutted into the villa.
She was here to kick out Harper, who had messed up her wedding. Last time, Antonio had protected Harper, and she got booted out with nothing. So this time, she came while Antonio was at work.
Ryan trailed behind her, jogging to keep up. He wore a little suit that Lisa had picked out, but his young face still looked tired.
Lisa ignored Ryan and marched into the villa, where she saw Harper chilling on the living room sofa, watching TV and munching on a bucket of popcorn, looking super relaxed.
The air was filled with the smell of popcorn, which made Lisa feel sick.
Seeing Harper always made Lisa mad.
She clenched her handbag and gritted her teeth, thinking, 'Harper's face looks so much like Antonio's. Who the hell is the jerk behind her?
Thinking about Antonio having Harper with another woman made Lisa's blood boil. She blamed Harper for Antonio's coldness towards her and his refusal to marry her.
Lisa glanced around and, not seeing any servants, sneered and walked up to Harper, blocking her view. "You really think this is your home?"
Harper looked up, frowning. "Why is Lisa here again?"
Lisa struck a pose like she owned the place and called out to Ryan. "Ryan, get over here!"
Ryan flinched at the sudden call. He didn't want to be here but didn't dare defy Lisa.
Under Lisa's glare, he reluctantly moved forward.
Lisa, annoyed by his hesitation, yanked him over and then glared at Harper.
"Ryan's Antonio's kid, you're a nobody. Get lost! Your mom forgot to teach you shame, oh wait, she's shameless. Leave now, or don't cry when I get tough!"
Ryan, held by the collar, hung his head in silence. Even though he wasn't the one being scolded, he was shaking with fear.
Harper's good mood vanished instantly. Hearing Lisa insult her and Sarah, her face darkened.
Lisa was really getting on her nerves!
Antonio had kicked her out last time, and she still had the nerve to come back!
Harper was about to lose it, but then she remembered what Brian had told her: getting angry meant losing. She forced herself to stay calm.
She turned her attention back to the TV and popped another piece of popcorn into her mouth, chewing with a smug look. "Dad's place, my home. Kicked out losers keep coming back to bug everyone!"
Then she seemed to remember something and mimicked Lisa's tone. "Oh, right. Dad didn't marry you. You're not his wife, so Ryan isn't his son!"
Harper's words made Lisa's blood boil. How dare Harper insult her!
Today, she would make Harper understand who the real lady of this house was!
"I'll beat you to death, you little brat!" She lunged at Harper, but just then, Sarah, who had heard the commotion from upstairs, recognized Lisa's voice.
She rushed downstairs, and seeing Harper about to be bullied, she stepped forward and forcefully pushed the rampaging Lisa away. "Keep your hands off her!"
Lisa twisted her ankle but managed to grab onto a cabinet to avoid falling. She thought the person who pushed her was just a regular servant and started to curse without looking. "Damn it, do you know who I am? How dare you lay a hand on me. I..."
She turned her head and saw Sarah, instantly stunned, unable to finish her sentence.
Lisa didn't know that the woman in front of her, Luna, was actually Sarah, but she knew Sarah was the woman Antonio had brought home the night of the wedding.
Lisa tore off her sunglasses, her eyes bulging. Although they had only brushed past each other that night, she was sure it was Sarah!
Because she looked so much like the deceased Sarah!
Lisa stared intently at Sarah's face, then looked at Harper, who was being protected by her. Her eyes darted between them, and the next second, Lisa realized something, almost grinding her teeth to dust.
Could Harper be Sarah's daughter?
