Chapter 708 Short Hair
She rubbed her forehead and took a few deep breaths. Before she could chill out, her phone started blowing up with notifications, making her nerves go haywire.
Sofia had enough and shut her eyes, then suddenly spun around and snatched her phone, almost ready to chuck it out the window.
'Why is this so freaking annoying?!'
'What's the point of just bugging me?' she thought.
She was totally out of patience and didn't want to deal with anyone. But if those people kept bugging her and Alex found out something was up...
Thinking of this, Sofia's face went a bit pale. She finally grabbed her phone and walked to the window to make a call, snapping, "What is it? Spit it out!"
Meanwhile, Alex had just finished his shower in the bathroom.
While brushing his teeth, he vaguely heard some noise from outside.
He paused and frowned.
'Why does it sound like Sofia is arguing with someone?' he thought.
The sounds from outside were sometimes loud, sometimes soft, but no matter how he listened, it didn't sound good.
Sofia was usually chill and easygoing, rarely showing such a sharp side.
Alex couldn't help but feel a bit worried and sped up.
When he came out of the bathroom, Sofia had just hung up the phone. She leaned against the window, looking disinterested, and was absentmindedly twirling her phone.
"Sofia?" Alex called her.
Sofia was startled by the voice, then turned around and forced a smile. "You done with your shower?"
Alex still felt something was off about her. He walked over and pulled her into his arms, asking, "Hey, what's wrong? You can tell me."
Sofia bit her lip and looked down. "Nothing."
"Really?" Alex lifted her chin in a mock-threatening way, "You don't wanna tell me?"
His voice had a way of melting her heart. She didn't want to lie to Alex, but she also found it hard to talk about those matters.
Her eyelashes fluttered, and she stood on tiptoe to kiss his lips.
"Of course, I was thinking about you."
Her soft voice caressed his skin, carrying a hint of teasing. Alex's eyes darkened, and he turned to press her against the window, his voice deep. "Thinking about me?"
Sofia's eyes were full of him, and she kissed him without hesitation. "Yes. I missed you."
Those words were the final straw that broke his rationality. What followed was Alex's kiss, landing on every inch of skin her eyes could see, making her sink into it.
They tumbled onto the bed, their breaths and heartbeats intertwining, heating up the air.
"Alex."
"I'm here."
In the end, they almost lost control.
Sofia bit Alex's shoulder hard and said in a trembling voice, "Stop it, we're at Sarah's house, and we have to get up early tomorrow."
Actually, she was using this method to divert Alex's attention and it seemed to have worked quite effectively.
Alex indeed forgot his earlier doubts, holding her tightly, and said helplessly, "It's all your fault for tempting me."
The night passed smoothly.
The next day, Sarah got up early to pack and said goodbye to the kids before heading out.
Antonio hit the office super early, getting his work sorted and telling his assistant, "While I'm gone, hit me up ASAP if anything weird goes down at the company."
Just as he wrapped things up, Harold called.
Harold's voice had this edge to it, like he was trying to keep his cool. "I was gonna see you off, but something came up here. Be careful on your way."
Antonio knew what was up. Harold was just trying to check if he was really jetting off to "find his lover."
Antonio smirked, "Alright, Dad. Everything good on your end?"
"Yeah, nothing major."
But Antonio wasn't buying it.
The Harrington Group's tech servers were acting up, and there was a big project that needed signing. Harold had to go personally to smooth things over and buy some time!
Antonio heard a bunch of crashing sounds on the other end and could almost picture Harold's pissed-off face.
After hanging up, Antonio sneered and hopped in the car to the airport.
He rubbed his phone, looking at a message that read [Done.], and his expression softened instantly.
He replied: [BrianTech can take over the project now. Thanks, Brian.]
Yep, all the chaos at the Harrington Group HQ was under Antonio's control.
Ever since he teamed up with Brian, everything had been going surprisingly smooth.
Thinking of the awesome Brian, Antonio felt a surge of pride.
At the airport, Antonio made a beeline for the VIP lounge. By now, Sarah should've been there.
But no sign of Sarah in the lounge.
Maybe she went shopping?
Antonio frowned a bit and called her.
No answer.
'Maybe she didn't hear it because of the crowd,' he thought.
Antonio kept scanning the area, but even when it was time to board, Sarah was still MIA.
He started to get a bit anxious.
Did Sarah change her mind and decide not to go with him?
If so, he wouldn't go either; he couldn't bear to leave her.
Just as Antonio took a deep breath and was about to bail, he got a text from Sarah, telling him to board first and that she'd be there soon.
Relieved, Antonio boarded the plane.
But as the departure time got closer, still no sign of Sarah.
A flight attendant came over, "Sir, our plane is about to take off. Please fasten your seatbelt."
Antonio frowned and looked at the cabin door again, finally spotting Sarah!
To his surprise, Sarah had cut her hair short!
With a neat bob, black sunglasses on her high, delicate nose, and lips like burning flames, she captivated every cell in his body.
He couldn't take his eyes off her.
So, she was late because she changed her hairstyle?
Sarah's seat was diagonally in front of Antonio. As soon as she boarded, she saw his shocked expression and gave a mischievous smile.
Then, under Antonio's amazed and expectant gaze, she sat down without any intention of acknowledging him.
Antonio was confused.
'Did she not see me? No, she definitely saw me. Otherwise, who was that smile for just now?' he thought.
