Chapter 771 Antonio Beats Up Harold
Harold shut his eyes, trying to keep the bubbling frustration in check.
A day later, his assistant showed up to bail him out.
Before leaving, Harold straightened his suit and nodded at a few officers. "Thanks for your hard work. But if this happens again, even if I'm wrongly accused, I'll still cooperate."
With a fake sigh, he walked away.
"Mr. Harrington, where to now?" the assistant asked.
Harold's face was stormy as he got into the car. "Get me a flight back to the Capital City as soon as possible! For now, let's head back to the Harrington Villa!"
The Harrington Villa still had Carter's stuff; Harold figured he could use those to ease his longing.
'I bet Benjamin's behind this. He has never been this eager to help me get a plane ticket. How could it be a coincidence? Just as I got to the cemetery, the cops showed up! And the people that cemetery caretaker mentioned must be in on it with Benjamin. I need to deal with that cocky Benjamin, who's so audacious and arrogant! How dare he pull such stunts behind my back!' Harold was lost in thought, not realizing the Harrington Villa in Marshall City had already been taken over by Antonio's people.
Bodyguards stood at the door, looking ready for a showdown.
Harold was livid. "Are you planning a coup?"
Antonio calmly descended the stairs, a cold aura around him. He glanced at the two bodyguards behind Harold and smirked, "Dad, I knew you'd get out on time, so I waited here."
Harold pointed at him. "What do you want?!"
Antonio raised an eyebrow. "Just a few questions; it's up to you if you want to cooperate."
"In your dreams!" Harold wasn't about to be bullied. His anger flared, and he turned to the bodyguards, "He might be having another episode. Take him to a doctor!"
The bodyguards took a couple of steps forward, but Antonio's men appeared from the hallway, and a fight broke out. In the end, Harold's bodyguards were pinned to the ground.
"Dad, was that really necessary?" Antonio glanced at him. "Everyone here works for me; whatever you do is pointless."
"You're too cocky!" Harold flipped a nearby table and roared, "So it was you who tipped off the police about Sarah! You also led me to the cemetery on purpose!"
Antonio sneered, his presence intimidating.
"Don't you think you owe my mom an explanation? Do you really feel no guilt for what you did back then?" Antonio stepped closer, his voice slicing through the air like a blade, "You should be on your knees, apologizing to her!"
Harold was only slightly surprised that Antonio knew about the past.
But then he thought it through; it made sense for Antonio to find out.
"Why should I feel remorse?" Harold felt no shame; instead, he felt a twisted sense of pride. "I loved her, so of course, I did everything to keep her with me! Even if she was unwilling at first, so what? In the end, she stayed by my side willingly."
Harold never thought he did anything wrong and believed anyone who tried to keep him and Carter apart deserved to die!
Antonio found it laughable. "You're beyond saving."
"Was I supposed to be like you?" Harold sneered at Antonio, his eyes full of mockery. "You don't even know what you want, and you can't get the woman you like. You haven't inherited a single trace of the Harrington family genes!"
By the end, Harold even sounded like he was giving fatherly advice.
Antonio took a deep breath, trying to keep his disgust in check. "Where have you hidden my mom's ashes?"
Harold's eyes flickered. "Your mom's ashes are in her grave, of course!"
"In the grave?" Antonio's breathing grew heavier. "Do you think I don't know that the grave is filled with dirt?"
"Then I don't know." Harold wasn't surprised it was discovered, remaining an impassive expression. He sat down on the couch calmly, but his hand habitually reached for his chest, only to find it empty. A trace of annoyance flashed in his eyes.
Suddenly, a pocket watch dangled in front of him.
Antonio sneered, "Looking for this? You left it in the Capital City, so I brought it for you."
Harold's face changed dramatically, and he reached out to grab it. "Give it back to me!"
Antonio casually stepped back and held the pocket watch in his hand. "Hard to believe this pocket watch means so much to you. What's inside?"
'The watch has always been Harold's constant companion. I happened to pick it up. But after examining it, I didn't find anything special. So why is Harold reacting this way? What secret does it hold?' Antonio wondered.
Harold's face darkened. He didn't answer and lunged to grab it. "It's none of your business! Give it to me!"
Antonio didn't expect Harold's reaction to be so intense and instinctively blocked his move.
But Harold was like a madman, only wanting to get the pocket watch back.
Antonio didn't intend to hurt him, but the struggle between them became unavoidable. The pocket watch accidentally fell to the ground and shattered with a crack.
Both of them stopped and looked over.
To their shock, a small piece of bone, like a human finger bone, fell out from the middle of the pocket watch!
Harold's pupils contracted sharply, and he reached out to pick it up, with eyes full of pain. "Carter."
Antonio had never experienced such a shock before; his heart felt as if it were being squeezed tightly, filled with uncontrollable anger and heartache.
'That is my mom. Harold, this sicko, has been carrying mom's bone with him all this time, which means that mom's real ashes must have been with him all along.' With this thought, Antonio had never hated Harold as much as he did at that moment!
Carter had been tormented by Harold in life, and even in death, she couldn't rest in peace!
Antonio couldn't bear it any longer and grabbed Harold by the collar, punching him in the face! "You're a bastard!"
