Chapter 142 He's Going to Kill the Kids
Sarah's face was a mess of emotions, her brain replaying that freaky scene from earlier on repeat.
This wasn't the first time Antonio had swooped in to save her kids.
Last time, when Harper got snatched by Lusa and took a nasty fall, it was Antonio who caught her just in the nick of time.
And today, when things got dicey, Antonio dashed over to save Ethan without a second thought.
But Antonio had no clue Ethan was his kid.
Why would he do that?
They headed back to their place.
Sarah swiped the card to open the door, and before stepping in, she turned to look at Antonio again.
Sarah hesitated for a sec before speaking, "Thanks for earlier. Your injury... need help with the meds?"
Worried Antonio might get the wrong idea, Sarah quickly added, "No matter what, you got hurt saving Ethan."
Hearing this, Antonio's eyes seemed to darken a bit. He thought for a moment and finally said, "No need, it's just a scratch. I can handle it."
His voice had a hint of helplessness and disappointment.
But before Sarah could figure it out, Antonio had already shut the door.
Sarah glanced at the closed door and then went back to her own room.
After making sure Ethan and Harper were okay, she hugged them tight and comforted them, "Harper, Ethan, you're safe now."
Harper sniffled and weakly said, "Luckily, Dad was there, or what would've happened to Ethan."
Hearing this, Sarah felt a wave of fear again and sighed. "Yeah."
Even though she was still mad about Antonio's past actions, to be fair, it was thanks to him that Ethan was safe today.
But then, Sarah couldn't help but think of something else.
In just two days, this was the third time someone got hurt.
First Ethan, then Alex, and now Antonio.
Why were people around her getting hurt one after another?
And all this started after she came back to the country.
To be precise, after she met Antonio again.
Sarah's face grew even darker.
Suddenly, a knock on the door snapped her out of her thoughts.
Ethan ran over to open the door and, seeing it was Alex, immediately hugged Alex's leg. "Alex."
After all, he was just a kid and still scared by what happened.
Hearing the fear and sadness in Ethan's voice, Alex's expression changed immediately. He squatted down to hug Ethan and asked softly, "What happened, Ethan?"
Looking at Sarah and Harper, who also seemed off, a thought quickly crossed Alex's mind, and he hurriedly asked, "Did Antonio mess with you again?"
Ethan shook his head and then told Alex what happened.
After listening, Alex's face turned serious.
This was the biggest hotel in Silvercrest, so the chances of such an accident should be pretty low.
Plus, it was Ethan and Harper who were in danger.
This made him think there was something fishy going on.
Alex composed himself and gently patted Ethan's head. "It's okay now. Ethan, stay here with Mommy for a bit. I'll go get you and Harper something tasty, okay?"
With that, Alex left.
The moment he closed the door, the gentleness on his face vanished, replaced by a sharp look, and he headed straight to the hotel's surveillance room.
As Alex suspected, the surveillance footage inside the kids' play area during the accident had been deleted, which made him even more sure this was no accident but a setup.
Alex thought for a moment and then told the staff, "Pull up the footage from outside the kids' play area."
He stared intently at the surveillance footage and found a suspicious-looking woman.
The woman, dressed in work clothes, sneaked out from the back door of the play area and then quickly ran away.
"Stop here," Alex said coldly, his face growing even darker.
Whoever tried to harm the kids, he wasn't gonna let them off easy.
Alex stared at the woman on the screen, took out his phone, and made a call. "Find this person immediately."
It didn't take long for Alex's men to nab the woman in the hotel's back office.
"Who are you? Why did you try to harm those kids?" Alex asked directly.
He glared at the woman in front of him, his usual gentleness replaced by a sharp edge.
But the woman, seeing she'd been caught, showed no fear. Instead, she boldly warned, "I didn't expect you to be so quick. Fine, Mr. Philip Valencia asked me to warn Sarah. If she doesn't leave, he'll be ruthless!"
Hearing this, Alex's face filled with anger, but his heart was more worried.
It was Philip.
He would actually do such a thing to the kids!
This time it was an accident, but what would it be next time?
