Chapter 966 The Man Who Keeps Himself Pure

"Alright."

Antonio's voice was rough but carried a sense of relief. "I'll handle the project now."

Mary walked over just then. "Don't worry, Antonio. We'll take good care of Sarah."

"Thanks, I appreciate it."

Once he left, Sarah's tense expression finally softened.

How could this happen? Just when they received some news about Nia, the company experienced an inexplicable accident, as if someone was deliberately trying to hinder their investigation.

"No way..." She shook her head. "I can't just sit here."

"Antonio's swamped with the company stuff, and I need to keep digging into Nia's situation. I can't just wait around."

The longer they waited, the more unpredictable things would get.

Mary looked at her pale face, feeling a surge of sympathy. After a moment of thought, she said, "Sarah, you're right. We can't stop investigating. But... your health isn't great, and you have to take care of the kids. How about I help you with the investigation? I have no ties to the Valencia Group, so they won't suspect me."

Timothy glanced at her, unsurprised, but stayed silent.

Sofia frowned. "How do you plan to investigate?"

She wanted to help, too, but there weren't many reliable people around, and Alex had gone back north.

"Tell us your plan. We can work together."

Mary thought seriously for a moment before speaking brightly, "We can pretend to be gossip reporters, looking for some juicy news about the main family. They'll be eager to talk, and we can subtly ask about the kids."

In big families like this, they might maintain a peaceful facade, but behind the scenes, there was always scheming and rivalry.

As long as it didn't harm their own interests, they'd love to see the others' scandals exposed.

Sofia realized this too and playfully nudged Mary. "You've got a good idea, Mary!"

Sarah looked at them, tears glistening in her eyes. "I... I don't even know how to thank you."

Every time she was on the brink of despair, she was grateful to have them by her side.

How lucky she was to have such friends.

"I'm just afraid I won't be able to help you."

Mary shook Sarah's hand gently. "I'm on vacation right now, so leave this to me. The Morrison Family's relatives shouldn't be in the Capital City. You stay here and take care of the kids. If you can, gather some information nearby. I'll handle the rest!"

She had no close family left.

It was Cynthia and Sarah who made her feel warmth again.

She genuinely considered them as her own family.

Sofia was a bit worried. "You... Dr. Reed's work must be really busy. Can you manage on your own? Should I go with you?"

"Really, it's fine!"

Mary didn't feel comfortable leaving Sarah alone.

As for Timothy...

Mary avoided him whenever possible and didn't plan to ask for his help.

"I'm an adult too, you know. Stop treating me like a kid. We'll stay in touch by phone. If anything comes up, I'll let you know right away."

Since she had said this much, Sarah and Sofia didn't argue further. They gave her a few reminders and then had a former assistant from the company look into the Morrison Family's extended relatives.

"Wow..."

Mary's eyes lit up as she looked at the information.

"One of the families had a baby recently in Marshall City. I can go with Timothy and start investigating there!"

Sarah and Sofia checked the information and confirmed it.

"Alright."

Sarah didn't say much, just gave Mary a deep, grateful look. "You handle Marshall City. Sofia and I will check out the Capital City. We'll stay in touch by phone. Be careful, okay?"

"Got it!" Mary nodded firmly. "Leave it to me!"

She immediately sprang into action, even setting aside her previous awkwardness to help Timothy pack and arrange to meet at the airport.

After saying goodbye, Sarah arranged for a driver to take her.

Four hours later, the plane landed at Marshall City Airport.

As soon as they disembarked, Mary couldn't wait to speak. "You go take care of your own business. I'll take my luggage home and then head to the Morrison Family to gather information."

Timothy looked at her serious expression and paused. "You're planning to go to the Morrison Family alone?"

"How else would I go?"

Mary looked at him, puzzled. "We don't have any concrete information yet. I can't just call the police, can I?"

"......"

He was standing right there, and she didn't even consider asking for his help?

Timothy stared at her, his big eyes filled with confusion and a lack of any intention to ask for his assistance.

He felt a lump in his throat, his voice low. "Suit yourself!"

He turned and walked away.

Mary watched his retreating figure, feeling baffled. This man was very stingy. Was he still holding onto what happened that day?

He really was...

Faithful to the one he loved!

She shook her head, took a deep breath, and decided to focus on investigating the Morrison Family first.

Could the baby born to the Morrison Family be connected to Nia?

Mary eagerly hailed a cab, took her luggage home, and then carefully dressed up.

She looked at herself in the mirror, wearing casual clothes and a baseball cap, and nodded in satisfaction.

Now, she looked like a gossip reporter, right?

Time to go!

The Morrison Family's house was located in the suburbs of Marshall City, about a half-hour drive away, in a high-end villa community.

Mary checked the location on her phone and then, taking advantage of the security guard's distraction, pulled her cap down and quickly walked in.

She had just reached the Morrison Family's courtyard when she accidentally bumped into someone.

"I'm... I'm sorry!"

The man brushed off his shoulder disdainfully, as if he had touched something dirty. "Watch where you're going! Don't you have eyes?!"

Mary's gaze swept past him.

This man had just come out of the inside.

A Morrison Family member? What luck!

She felt a surge of joy but kept her expression apologetic, bowing deeply. "I'm really sorry, sir. I just came around the corner and didn't see you."

The man finally took a good look at her. She was clean and pretty, and her outfit suggested she was a regular, decent girl.

His eyes gleamed with ill intent, and he chuckled, stroking his chin.

"You're not from around here, are you?"

"......" Mary tightened her grip, forcing a smile. "Sir... why do you say that?"

"People who live here wouldn't dress like you. You look like a thief."

The man stepped closer, enjoying her anxious and uneasy demeanor, feeling a thrill.

"Tell me, what are you really here for? If you don't, I'll have to call security."

"Please...!" Mary pretended to be very troubled. "You seem like a good person. Could you not call security?"

"Then you need to be honest with me. What's your purpose here?"
