Chapter 240 Antonio Makes an Exception Just for Her

"Focus, focus." Seeing Antonio's gaze still on her, she quickly nudged him with her elbow, urging him to concentrate.

In the midst of this ambiguous distance, the two of them collaborated to craft a clay sculpture.

They both struggled to articulate their thoughts about the sculpture resting on the provided base after completing the drying and shaping process.

Originally intending to fashion two cartoonish figurines, they had aimed for recognizable shapes, if not vibrant ones.

However, gazing at the distorted figures on the base, Antonio's expression darkened while Sarah couldn't suppress a smile. It appeared Antonio had met his match!

She seemed to be the sole witness to this facet of his abilities, and in that moment, the gulf between them seemed to narrow.

As Sarah looked at Antonio with a smile in her eyes, her eyes were filled with a radiant glow, and Antonio's dark face gradually returned to normal. There was even a hint of joy in his eyes. After settling the bill, they packed up the clay figurines they made together and left the shop together.

The street was still bustling with people. They continued walking forward, side by side. Their shoulders occasionally brushed against each other, and his slender fingertips would occasionally touch her smooth hand.

Just as her heart tightened from these subtle touches, Antonio suddenly held her hand. His fingertips caressed hers, and his strong palm tightly enveloped her hand as if she were a precious treasure.

“Where are we going?”

Seeing that he had led her past many shops, Sarah realized he had a destination in mind.

"You'll find out soon enough," he replied softly, intentionally maintaining an air of mystery and anticipation.

When they finally arrived, they stopped in front of a temple, and Sarah's eyes widened in surprise.

The Matchmaker Temple? Why did Antonio bring her here?

Looking at their destination, Sarah couldn't believe it and asked, "Do you want to go in?"

He nodded without hesitation. Sarah furrowed her brows in confusion.

"We already made clay sculptures together, isn't that enough? Do we really need to come to the Matchmaker Temple... Um, to pray to the Matchmaker?"

She grabbed Antonio's hand, wanting to tell him that they didn't need to do all this, but she saw him looking at her seriously and nodded.

"Even the prestigious CEO of Valencia Inc. believes in this..." Antonio simply held her hand as if reminding her how much he cared about their long-term future together.

Lost in her thoughts, Sarah found herself being led into the temple by Antonio. At the center of the temple stood a deity statue, with places for buying incense on both sides.

Antonio bought incense and taught her how to light it, following the examples of others, and they walked up to the front to pay their respects.

He stood quietly, holding the incense, closing his eyes, and fell into silence. He bowed solemnly in front of the deity statue for a while, appearing incredibly devout.

She looked at his series of fluid movements with surprise, feeling as if her throat was blocked and finding it difficult to breathe.

In her memory, Antonio was someone who didn't believe in deities. He never sought any help from divine forces to obtain anything. However, this time, he made an exception.

Standing by his side, she engraved his focused expression into her mind, just as captivating as when they first met.

"If we had come here to make offerings years ago, maybe we wouldn't have been separated for so many years." Antonio inserted the incense into the altar, raising his gaze to the statue in front of him, feeling a mixture of emotion and regret.

His words caused Sarah's heart to tighten suddenly, almost bringing tears to her eyes. There was once a time when she thought they would never part, that their love would last forever, but then there was an unexpected turn of events. When they met again, a great divide had already formed between them.

How did he spend those past few years for him to speak such lonely and remorseful words? Did he, like her, not fare well during that time? At least during these years, she harbored a special hatred for him due to misunderstandings.

"Aren't we offering incense now?" she suddenly spoke softly, trying to console him.

Antonio saw that she was trying to comfort him of her own accord, and his deep eyes immediately brightened.

"Let's go, we'll get some red cloth," he said.

Only then did she come back to her senses, remembering that there were other stalls inside the Matchmaker Temple where they sold red cloth for visitors to write their wishes.

And so, she took the red cloth that Antonio handed to her and held the pen absentmindedly.

With the red cloth in his hand, Antonio's gaze filled with affection as he swept it over Sarah.

In the next moment, he swiftly wrote down the contents almost without thinking.

Sarah felt curious, but seeing the red cloth tightly clenched in his hand, she refrained from asking.

As if sensing her desire to know, Antonio explained to her in a low voice near her ear, "It loses its power once spoken aloud."

"I wasn't planning to look." She averted her gaze awkwardly, though her heart was starting to race.

Then he was about to hang up the red cloth.

Sarah hurriedly grabbed him. "No, give me one too."

Seeing how seriously he was preparing to make a wish, she couldn't sit idly and wanted to join him.

Antonio immediately bought another one for her.

She took the red cloth handed to her by Antonio and earnestly wrote down her wish at this moment.

Neither of them revealed what they had written to each other, until Sarah finished writing, and they went together to hang up their red cloth.

Inside the Matchmaker Temple, the tree symbolizing matrimonial ties was already covered in red cloth, a spectacular sight to behold.

Sarah couldn't reach other spots because the lower areas were already filled with red cloth.

"I'll help you." He noticed her struggling and eagerly took her red cloth.

She instinctively wanted to snatch it back but discovered he had no intention to peek, so she let Antonio handle it.

After hanging her red silk up high, he immediately took out his own red silk and prepared to hang it next to hers. She thought she saw the word "Sarah" on his red silk.
