Chapter 285 You've Been Bought by Antonio!
Brian spoke as he untied his clothes, "I will take on your identity for the test."
"We can't let him know I exist. Otherwise, we'll have to pretend."
Ethan finally understood Brian's meaning and quickly changed clothes.
"Kids, time for a midnight snack!" Sarah shouted towards the children's room.
Soon enough, Harper and Ryan came out first, followed by Brian, who had already assumed the new identity.
"It smells so good! I didn't eat enough at the party earlier. Thanks Mommy!" Harper affectionately kissed Sarah's cheek.
"Ethan" also approached. "Mommy, are you feeling better?"
Sarah paused for a moment. "I'm much better now. I haven't had a fever for a long time. Did you forget? Thanks for your concern, sweetheart."
"That's good." Brian finally relaxed. He had been really worried listening to Ethan speak.
At that moment, Antonio walked over and ruffled "Ethan's" hair. "Son, are you starving?"
"Who's your son? Don't you know you shouldn't touch someone's head without permission?" Brian swiped Antonio's hand away and sat down in the chair with a serious expression.
Antonio was taken aback.
Over the past few days, Ethan had been treating him a little better, so why did Ethan suddenly become cold again?
Sarah said, "Ethan, your dad even gave you a helicopter as a gift today. You can't act this way."
Brian inwardly sneered.
'Wow, he's really going all out to please my siblings. He even gave them a helicopter!'
"Hmph! What's so amazing about a helicopter? I... Michael also has a helicopter!" Brian almost let it slip.
Sarah felt that something was off. What happened to Ethan today? He was fine during the day, but why did he suddenly change like this at night?
"Ethan!"
Antonio quickly intervened, trying to defuse the situation. "Sarah, we shouldn't reprimand the children during a meal. Besides, Ethan did nothing wrong. Let's just enjoy the meal."
There were many things Antonio owed Sarah and the children, and they couldn't be compensated for with a birthday party or a helicopter.
There was still a lot he had to do.
Sarah sighed. "Ethan, Harper, Ryan, eat well and don't misbehave."
"Yes, Mommy!" Harper playfully blew a kiss and secretly kicked Brian under the table, signaling for him not to go too far.
But Brian, completely focused on monitoring Antonio, wasn't willing to give up.
"Mommy's cooking is really delicious. Look at you, just sitting here enjoying yourself while Mommy works hard. How can you be so shameless?"
Antonio almost spat out his soup. It seemed like Ethan was saying so many words to him for the first time.
But every word struck directly at his heart...
"Ethan, didn't you realize that Daddy made this late-night snack?" Sarah was finding it harder and harder to understand Ethan today. What was happening?
Brian was momentarily speechless. He had been so preoccupied with pushing Antonio's buttons that he hadn't even noticed that this late-night snack wasn't Sarah's culinary expertise. How annoying!
Brian had to admit that this meal suited his taste well.
In his mind, he quietly assessed Antonio's cooking skills, jotting down notes in his small notebook. Still, it was just a passable mark.
Unable to contain himself, Antonio chuckled. "Ethan, if you like it, have some more. You've been out all day today and seem to have tanned a bit more than before."
Brian "tearfully" finished two bowls of rice, pondering. "I'm thirsty!"
Just as Sarah was about to go pour some water, Brian stopped her. "Mommy is already tired—"
Before the words could fully leave his mouth, Antonio had already brought a cup of warm water. "I knew you'd be thirsty after dinner, so I prepared some for you in advance."
"I want to drink an ice-cold Coke!"
Brian deliberately acted like the mischievous child he had seen in the few TV dramas he had watched.
'Mommy rarely lets us have these drinks, especially after a meal. Let's see what he does this time. Is he trying to please Mommy or me?'
Little did they know that Antonio insisted on giving Brian plain water instead. "Ethan, if you want to drink a cold Coke, you can have it tomorrow during the day but not at night. It's not good for your health."
"What will you do if I still want to drink it?"
Antonio looked at Ethan. "Even if you insist, I won't give you an ice-cold Coke. However, I can give you a glass that hasn't been in the fridge. After all, Mommy got sick a couple of days ago. If you get sick because of drinking something cold, it will burden Mommy taking care of you."
Brian hesitated to speak further because it was true—it wouldn't be good for his mom if this matter caused any trouble.
'Well played! You've just shifted the problem onto me!'
