Chapter 150 What Exactly Is Going On
Hearing those words, Sarah froze, her face going ghostly white.
She knew that voice—it was Lisa.
Did Lisa just call that night an accident?
Sarah's mind shot back to that night five years ago.
Even after all this time, she could still replay the convo between Antonio and Lisa in her head.
From what she saw and heard, that night was anything but an "accident."
What the heck was going on?
Was there something she missed back then?
The kids, noticing Sarah stop, looked up at her with big, curious eyes.
Was Mom sad again?
Sarah seemed lost in her thoughts, not catching the worried looks from her kids. Her face was a mix of emotions, and she felt a bit uneasy.
Like the air was suddenly too thick, Sarah said nothing, tightened her grip on the kids' hands, and hurried off.
Inside, Antonio turned away from Lisa, disgusted and annoyed, only to spot Sarah's figure passing by the door. His face changed instantly.
Did Sarah hear everything just now?
Lisa, clueless about Antonio's reaction, kept crying into her hands.
She looked super sad, but behind her hands, her eyes were scheming and resentful.
Ryan was her only card, and she couldn't let it flop.
Even if Antonio saw through her, she had to keep pushing.
Antonio's face grew colder, his lips a tight line.
Thinking of Lisa's words, his eyes filled with disdain and contempt, and he said coldly, "Accident or planned, you know the truth."
His words cut through Lisa's sobs like a knife, and her face went pale.
'What does he mean by that? Did he find out the truth? But I cover my tracks perfectly; he can't have found out.' she thought.
Lisa started trembling, panic rising in her chest. She didn't dare look at Antonio, afraid she'd crack under his intense gaze.
But she was overthinking it; Antonio didn't even glance at her. He grabbed his coat and stormed out.
Downstairs in the dining room, Sarah sat between the kids, holding a fork but not eating.
Her eyes were on her plate, but her mind was miles away, clearly distracted.
The words she overheard outside Antonio's room kept replaying in her head.
If Antonio had said those words to her face, she wouldn't be so torn.
But it was Lisa who said them, and they didn't know she'd be passing by.
So, those words had to be legit.
Realizing this, Sarah's brows furrowed.
Could it be that Antonio really didn't mean to be with Lisa back then, and Ryan was just a drunken mistake?
But then Sarah laughed at herself, her eyes dimming.
Even if it was an accident, so what? He chose to keep betraying their marriage because of that accident. Thinking this, Sarah lost her appetite even more and put down her fork.
Just then, a shadow fell across the table, and someone sat down in front of her.
Sarah looked up and saw it was Antonio, her delicate face instantly clouding over.
What was he doing here?
The kids also looked up from their breakfast at Antonio.
Ethan put down his fork, staring at Antonio warily.
Harper, on the other hand, gave a sweet smile and winked at Antonio.
Since Mom was upset, Antonio should hurry up and make her feel better.
Sarah didn't notice the kids' reactions and impatiently pursed her lips.
She was super annoyed and didn't want to deal with him.
Sarah wanted Antonio to leave, but just as she was about to speak, Antonio beat her to it, "Did you hear something just now?"
Impatience and anger flashed across Sarah's face. She looked away, pressing her lips together in silence.
Seeing her reluctance, Antonio got his answer.
It seemed she did hear and was sulking because of it.
Well, those things need to be explained sooner or later, so it might as well be today, he thought.
A complex expression crossed his chiseled face. He sighed almost inaudibly and patiently started, "What I meant by accident was actually..."
"Mr. Valencia, I'm not interested in your romantic past," Sarah cut him off coldly, her face full of distance.
She didn't want to hear it and didn't care to.
No matter how he explained, what happened couldn't be undone.
Sarah ignored Antonio and looked at the kids. "Ethan, Harper, are you full?"
Seeing them nod, Sarah immediately stood up, holding their hands and leaving without looking back.
Harper obediently followed Sarah but turned her head to give Antonio an encouraging look that seemed to say, "Don't get discouraged, keep trying! One day, you'll succeed!"
