Chapter 526 Taking Mrs. Valencia Home
James was frantic but powerless.
All he could do was anxiously watch Antonio, waiting for his decision.
Sarah's hatred for Serene had reached an unprecedented level. She shifted, motioning for Antonio to set her down. She couldn't just watch her father be killed.
Sarah really wished Serene would fall off that cliff at this very moment, to a death without a body to bury!
"Serene, what's the point of all this?!" Sarah pulled away from Antonio, her eyes ice-cold as she stared at Serene. "You're not even human! You're a beast!"
"Point?" Serene sneered. "Why do I need a point? Your misery is my joy!"
Antonio looked down at Sarah, whose face was pale with fear, moving further away from him. Reluctantly, he let go of her hand.
When he looked up again, his eyes were a cold abyss.
He longed to eliminate the wicked and cruel woman across from him.
But they were in a bind. They couldn't push Serene to despair, lest she'd drag them all down with her in a bid of mutual destruction.
Antonio exhaled heavily. "Serene, what do you really want? Just say it."
Serene didn't respond, her gaze fixed on him with a crazed adoration.
Even now, surrounded by the tension, he was the epitome of powerful pheromones, wild and utterly captivating.
She truly loved him…
It was a pity she had never had the chance to have him.
Serene absentmindedly licked her lips as if imagining some delicious treat, causing everyone to watch her mania with guarded eyes.
At that moment, Serene seemed to lose all control as she lunged at Sarah, heading straight for the edge of the cliff!
There was no escaping today!
If so, she was determined to drag Sarah down with her. How could she allow the woman who stole everything from her to live a life of love with Antonio?!
Time seemed to freeze, and no one could move quickly enough to intervene.
Only Antonio saw through Serene's intentions. He watched in horror as Serene ignited the bomb, its beeping syncing with the final countdown.
Antonio's mind went blank. Acting purely on instinct, he lunged towards Sarah and shoved her away with force. In the next moment, Serene pounced, gripping Antonio with a deathly hold.
It was too late...
All these actions unfolded in the blink of an eye; seemingly, less than a second had passed.
Sarah hit the ground hard. When she looked up, she saw Antonio and Serene tumbling over the cliff's edge!
Her scream was raw, tasting blood in her throat. "Antonio!"
In the second before his fall, Antonio turned his head, looking deeply into her eyes.
His eyes brimmed with tears, revealing a heart-wrenching deep longing and love.
As the explosion boomed through the valley, Sarah made out Antonio's words: "Sarah, I love you…"
The blast echoed throughout the valley. Serene and Antonio were gone, and dark clouds billowed from the sea below the cliffside.
Sarah felt as though her soul had departed her body, tears streaming down her numb face uncontrollably, her swollen eyes brimming with disbelief. Something within her shattered like glass into countless sharp fragments, causing an indescribable, excruciating pain.
Her lips trembled silently, trying to shout out his name, but only a soundless quiver remained.
James stood frozen behind her, grinding his teeth in anger and helplessness. He raised his hand and slapped himself sharply. After a long pause, he lowered his head and approached Sarah's slender figure. "Mrs. Valencia… Mr. Valencia, he—"
"It can't be!" Sarah interrupted him with a voice breaking from grief. She then ran wildly to the edge of the cliff, falling, staggering, and finally crying the name that pierced her heart, "Antonio! Antonio! Answer me… Where are you?! Antonio, come back!"
But the only answer was the churning blood-red sea below, spreading like a crimson bloom.
Sarah collapsed, her fingers clawing at the ground until they bled. She muttered hysterically, "It can't be... He can't be gone... He just promised to protect me forever…"
Despite her denial, tears flowed unchecked, a pool of salty water gathering on the ground.
How could this be...
"Just now... we talked about being together forever, about caring for our children... He was just fine..."
Sarah understood but couldn't bring herself to believe it.
She wanted to follow him in his descent!
But what about the children if she did? And her ailing father...
Finally, Sarah couldn't hold back anymore. She buried her face in her hands and sobbed uncontrollably.
Everyone fell into a somber silence. They were all stunned and grieved, recognizing the grim reality that Antonio's chances of survival were slim. After all, even the strongest of men were mortal in the end.
'Life is filled with dramatic joys and sorrows, twists of fate that mock us with their cruelty...'
Sarah didn't realize how long she had been crying until the darkness of night enveloped her, and she finally fainted from exhaustion.
James wiped away his tears, his gaze lifting from the horizon with heavy sorrow, his voice subdued as he ordered, "Take Mrs. Valencia... back home."
